Mamta Agarwal is an Indian poet, writer and teacher. She has a Masters in English Literature and has taught at several colleges. She has published several books of poetry as well as books on business writing and essays. Her poems have been published in numerous journals and anthologies in India and abroad. She is involved with several literary organizations and has participated in international poetry festivals. She enjoys various interests including art, architecture, history and working with children.
Susan Nalugwa Kiguli (PhD) is a Ugandan poet, literary scholar and critic whose fame is continuously growing from great to greater heights. She is currently a Senior Lecturer of Literature at Makerere University (with an observably strong passion and delight in teaching poetry), where she is the Head of Department.

Location: School/ House and the jungle. – jungle is a way of escape can emphasise the fact that the boy is grown up and he is independent.
Lighting: The lighting in the school is high key in order to show the destruction more clearly. The jungle the lighting is low key.
Props: guns are symbolic - they ‘fire’ similarly the society fire ‘words’ which are hurtful . These words will affect a child’s psychological state.
Costume: The boy wears casual clothes – jeans./ coat and a hat – the weather seems windy and cold so the boy is dressed appropriate to the weather.

Indian writing in English: A Brief Study of some Indian Female English Writersijtsrd
English Language was introduced in India during British rule. Indians learned this colonial language and some Indian writers started writing in English. The first book written by an Indian in English was by Sake Dean Mahomet titled " Travels of Dean Mahomet " published in 1793. and journalsforthe last25 years.Her diverse interests,inart,architecture,historyledhertopursue
a course conductedby Govt.of India,Departmentof Tourism.She workedasacultural ambassador

two years from 1980- 82. Subsequently, on moving to New Delhi, she taught ‘Traveland Tourism’ at
International Polytechnic, New Delhi for two academic sessions and went on to publish a book on
Tourism and Hotel Management.
In 1987, she decided she wanted to work with children and enrolled for B. Ed. Later, instead of
joining a mainstream school, she chose to join an experimental school, Mirambika, in New Delhi,
run on Shri Aurobindo and Mother’s teachings and again did a teacher’s training course.
She has written a book on essays on Contemporary issues. She was commissioned to write books on
‘Art of Precise writing’ and Buisness letters. These books were published by Dhillon Publishers in
NAEW Delhi. Her first anthology of poems titled ‘Rhythms of Life’ was published in 2008. Her
second book, titled ‘Voices of autumn and other short poems’ came out in August 2010.’ An
anthology of Contemporary women poets from India’, published by Roots and Wings, selected 10 of
her poems for the anthology. It was released in September, 2011. Her poetry has been published in
major journals in India and abroad-Poets International, Rock Pebbles, Contemporary Vibes, Replica,
Poets International, SAARC Journal of Literature, Delhi Poetree,Journal of Literature and Aesthetics,

Two poems were selected for the event “Peace Rain Poetry” at Nicosia, Cyprus, May 2012.
A poem titled ‘Long last, Indian summer comes to an end’ was selected in a competition and included
in the anthology ‘Mind and Heart’ by Forward Poetry UK IN 2011. Many of her poems have been
published in anthologies of Forward Poetry, Faber and Faber subsequently. Many other poems were
published by Forward Poetry, UK, later in the annual antholgies.
She was interviewed by Editor Moon Golden for an online Journal from USA- Prose and Poetry
Magazine In September 2013. , Axlepin Publishing, Philippines brought out an Anthology-
SPELLBOUND- THE DISTINCTIVE POETRYBOOKEXTRAORDINAIRE- WORKS OF SIX
POETS FROM EUROPE AND ASIA.
Mamta Agarwalis the only Indian poet in the anthology. It was published in 2012.

Untold Story of a Pebble.

Eminent critic, poet, Novelist, Translator - VVB Rama Rao recently published an overview of her
poetry in his book- Sensitivity and Cultural Multiplexity in RECENT INDIAN ENGLISH POETRY,
PUBLISHED- 2014
She was invited for the Mihai Eminescu, Second Edition, World Poetry Festival in Craiova, Romania,
in September, 2014. She attended the festival, where an anthology – Antologia- poeziei universal de
astazi- was released. It has nine poems written by her, 8 translated in Romanian language, and one in
English.
She was the designated organizer of the event- 100 Thousand Poets for change in Noida , India,
September 2012, 2013, an event that was organized all over the world, Headquarters in California,
USA- A peace initiative through Poetry and other arts.
She was the captain of her school Basketball team, played Table Tennis, and excelled in athletics.
She was awarded a silver medal for record grades in English Honours Course at graduation studies
She has been invited to judge Poetry contest organized by Museindia
She was given Editor’s choice award 2009, for creative/ critical writing by THE HOME OF
LETTERS, HOLI,BHUBANESHWAR,Odhisha, INDIA
She was awarded the World Poetry Empowered Poet award,at World Poetry Festival in Vancouver,
Canada,October, 2014.
Her areas of interest are Children’s Literature, World Literature, Literary Criticism, Study of all
genres of Poetry, Essays on Literature, philosophy.
She has worked with visually challenged for more than two decades. She recorded lessons for them in
the studio and worked with students In the Blind Relief Association of India, New Delhi
she has worked with street children, as a volunteer for NGO- Butterflies.
She has two children and two granddaughters.
