Customer Story:
South Australian DCP
The South Australian Department of Child Protection works
in partnership with vulnerable families, other government and
non-government organizations, foster carers and the community
to keep children and young people safe and give them the same
opportunities as other young South Australians.
As a new department, formed in response to a recommendation
made by a Royal Commission, the South Australian Department
of Child protection need to quickly establish a digital environment
for over 2,000 staff. They turned to LiveTiles to simplify the
SharePoint experience build an engaging corporate intranet
in just a few months.

The Challenge
With varying stakeholders and different
requirements across the business, an intranet
project posed a significant challenge.
“We had very few foundation systems an
organization requires to operate,” explained
Hamish Cameron, DCP’s Chief Information Officer.
“I knew we needed to get this going quickly if we
were to succeed. That’s when I started looking at
tools to help build on top of SharePoint, make it
look nicer, but importantly, reduce the build time”.
The Solution
LiveTiles partner and local IT services firm Chamonix
worked with DCP to simplify the SharePoint
experience and build an intranet for over 2,000 staff
in just a couple of months.
The usability coupled with the improved search has
been really welcomed by staff.
Hamish and his team collaborated with stakeholders
to design and build a new intranet using LiveTiles’
library of ‘drag and drop’, incorporating modern
and mobile-friendly interface, intuitive document
management and search functionality.
“Chamonix really helped us set the scene, crystalize
the look and feel and just run with it. They exceeded
our expectations,” Hamish said.
“We got a great sense of where it could take us,
and in an iterative way, rather than this 18-month
project that delivers something that people asked
for but not necessarily what they wanted.”

THE RESULT
With its new intranet, DCP SA has an
engaging and mobile-friendly digital
environment to support its important work.
“Our staff now have a functional, usable
intranet that they haven’t had before with
great search capabilities,” Hamish said.
“I can’t understate how important that it is,
when a department that is trying to focus
on protecting vulnerable children and young
people, that they are able to find what
they’re looking for.”
Chamonix and LiveTiles took the hassle out
of DCP SA’s intranet project, which has been
a major win for the IT department.
“This has easily been the fastest intranet
build and migration that I’ve been involved
in. And one I can actually say has been
successful,” Hamish said.
“I’ve got good support from Chamonix, I’ve
got good support from LiveTiles, and great
internal buy-in. From a Chief Information
Officer’s perspective, it’s about getting
information to staff, and we have a great
platform to do that.”

Moorabool Shire Council
Background
As part of a broader strategic plan, Moorabool
Council wanted to provide a centralised,
Intelligent Intranet to empower their employees
to be connected to the latest information
across the organisation. The Intranet enabled
employees to get the latest news, launch
and interact with core applications and
be the central hub for collaboration and
knowledge management. It was recognised
that a transformation of Moorabool Councils’
information management practices and
employee experience would be necessary
with the enormous growth of the council.
Leveraging the power of Microsoft SharePoint
and LiveTiles Intelligent Design, the project
delivered a beautifully designed intranet within
3.5 weeks from inception, leveraging design
thinking and rapid intranet template creation.

THE CHALLENGE
Moorabool Council information management
systems lacked consistency and centralised
controls of data, with documents and
information originating out of multiple
source systems, resulting in a mix of
manual intensive business processes,
complimented by multiple sources
of truth for the employee experience.
A determination was made to

Intranet to centralise information and

THE SOLUTION
Moorabool Council engaged SXiQ, one

developed via a design thinking workshop
into a intranet implementation, within 3

The Challenge
Using a solution that required heavy custom
development, NBH Bank wasn’t making a lot of
progress with its new intranet.
With limited time and resources, they needed a
rapid design solution to implement an engaging
mobile-friendly intranet for over 1,000 associates
across 100 banking centers in Colorado, Kansas,
Missouri, New Mexico and Texas.

‘place to go’ for company news, information
and resources with 800 unique visitors per
day since it was rolled out.
With an integrated Yammer feed, world map,
people directory, news items and quick links,
NBH Bank has created an engaging
UX that has brought its people together.

A Global communications hub
With LiveTiles and its library of ‘drag
and drop’ features, Michael Hill utilized
SharePoint and built a communication
platform called HO Documents.
Now, Michael Hill’s 300 stores access
company updates, expense forms, policies
and Yammer feeds on a single dashboard.
Instead of files taking days to reach their
stores across the world, communication is
instant and resources are easy to find.
“HO Documents has become a central hub
for our retail stores and the place to come
if you want to know anything about the
business,” Daniel said.

With HO Documents, Michael Hill has
brought its global business together and
made the most of limited IT resources.
“Our challenge was how were going to utilize
the advantages of SharePoint, but deliver an
engaging front end. With LiveTiles we found
the solution,” Daniel said.
“We’ve transformed files and folders into a
communication platform that has changed
the way we access resources, company news
and business applications,” he said.
LiveTiles simplifies the SharePoint

Struggling with Sharepoint
Michael Hill wanted SharePoint’s document
management functionality, but not its user
experience.

help the company finally utilize SharePoint
and deliver an engaging platform to circulate
news and resources from head office to its
300 stores around the world.
“We had several attempts at a SharePoint
strategy, but it was difficult to push over the
line and get our stores to engage with it,”
he said.
“It wasn’t until I saw LiveTiles that we really
had the missing piece in the jigsaw.”

Customer Story: South Australian DCP The South Australian Department of Child Protection works in partnership with vulnerable families, other government and non-government organizations, foster carers and the community to keep children and young people safe and give them the same opportunities as other young South Australians. As a new department, formed in response to a recommendation made by a Royal Commission, the South Australian Department of Child protection need to quickly establish a digital environment for over 2,000 staff.
