Editor's Notes

  • #7 Quizlet live brings a competitive dimension Teachers create ‘sets’ of key terms by topic When they select ‘Live’, 12 terms are chosen at random for students to study Students sign up using a join code just like kahoot Students are assigned teams at random (by clicking shuffle…) Answers are shown to all team members as a group, but not every team member will have the correct answer The objective is for each team to identify 12 correct answers in a row During the ‘race’, progress is shown If a team member answers incorrectly, they are shown the correct answer & start back at zero Using repetition, students are engaging in purposeful practice Our weaker students are able to access the revision as answers are shown & team mates are quick to help At the end of each ‘round’, the teacher can use the Review to focus on misconceptions
  • #8 BitPaper An online collaborative whiteboard Teachers can use in lessons, then download as a PDF OR share with students in a lesson OR allow absent students to log in & listen OR create online revision sessions with audio & shared whiteboards Here, I have pasted past paper questions onto the screen with students adding in answers Improvements are then added by another student Sharing with students is as simple as opening a ‘Paper’ & sharing the URL. Papers can be saved, downloaded, and added to later. If you wanted to save all whiteboards from a topic, this is a perfect solution. What about revision? Students can create their own whiteboards with mindmaps, notes, or questions These can be shared with friends to allow them to revise together from home Why? We know that collaboration improves motivation Accessing online tools helps with time management No meeting friends No travel Just switch on the computer & go
