Forum Economique Mondial: Rapport Global sur la Competitivite 2012-13Stanley Lucas
The Global Competitiveness and Benchmarking Network, with its annual Global Competitiveness Reports, and other topical and regional reports, offers a structured, systematic and comprehensive approach to identifying and measuring the drivers of economic performance of more than 140 economies. The Network’s portfolio of reports provides unique insight and data to inform strategies and constructive discussions among policy-makers, business leaders and civil society, while also providing material for independent academic research.
The Global Competitiveness and Benchmarking Network works with leading academics to ensure that the latest thinking and research on competitiveness are incorporated into its work. It collaborates with its network of more than 160 Partner Institutes to disseminate the findings of its research at national and regional levels.
1) The document is the Global Competitiveness Report 2011-2012 published by the World Economic Forum.
2) It was edited by Klaus Schwab, the executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, and its chief advisor was Xavier Sala-i-Martin of Columbia University.
3) The report assesses the competitiveness of nations and provides analysis to help countries improve their economic prosperity and social well-being.
This document discusses innovation, exponential change, and disruption. Some key points:
1) Progress is exponential and accelerating, doubling every decade, meaning the next 100 years will see 20,000 years of progress at today's rate.
2) Exponential growth is deceptive as its effects are small at first but explode over time. Disruptive innovation often arises unexpectedly.
3) The world is transitioning from an industrial to a knowledge-based economy, deeply affecting how we use time, organize space/wealth, and create/share knowledge. Knowledge is increasingly the key source of wealth but is unlike previous forms of wealth.
4) Many institutions are becoming unstable and being disrupted due to
The Global Competitiveness Report 2012–2013FUSADES
The Global Competitiveness Report 2012–2013 is being
released amid a long period of economic uncertainty.
The tentative recovery that seemed to be gaining ground
during 2010 and the first half of 2011 has given way
to renewed concerns. The global economy faces a
number of significant and interrelated challenges that
could hamper a genuine upturn after an economic crisis
half a decade long in much of the world, especially
in the most advanced economies. The persisting
financial difficulties in the periphery of the euro zone
have led to a long-lasting and unresolved sovereign
debt crisis that has now reached the boiling point. The
possibility of Greece and perhaps other countries leaving
the euro is now a distinct prospect, with potentially
devastating consequences for the region and beyond.
This development is coupled with the risk of a weak
recovery in several other advanced economies outside
of Europe—notably in the United States, where political
gridlock on fiscal tightening could dampen the growth
outlook. Furthermore, given the expected slowdown in
economic growth in China, India, and other emerging markets, reinforced by a potential decline in global trade
and volatile capital flows, it is not clear which regions
can drive growth and employment creation in the short
to medium term.

Swimming with the Salmon: Lessons in Moving Quality UpstreamTechWell
Having difficulties getting your organization to recognize the value of QA? Is your “salmon team” losing to currents that impede continuous improvement and strategic planning? Colleen Kirtland and Harish Krishnankutty share their two-year uphill struggle to elevate QA to the position of trusted business partner. Move QA upstream before testing begins by aligning requirements to a business capability model (BCM). Translate the BCM model into key implementation assets with story maps. Before delivering test execution, swim like salmon to frame testing services by connecting day-to-day operational metrics to higher level business value metrics. Partner with your product and/or development teams to inject measurable quality gates upstream in the delivery lifecycle. Learn about the evolution of merging service level management (e.g., ITIL processes) with upstream QA, test, and solution delivery. Create a fun, vibrant team culture of uphill swimmers who advocate formal quality standards. Fight to fund and sustain a multi-year quality strategy while still meeting customer demands.

This was the first conference of its type to take place in Wisconsin, bringing together economic development, governmental professionals with sustainable business, educators, not-for-profits leaders to address issues related to job creation, sustainable business strategies and partnerships around economic development.

Yet, in coping with the demands of day-to-day life we often don’t find the time or create the space to fulfil this important leadership responsibility.

It also stresses the strategic importance of human resource management for multinational companies to prevent such misconduct issues.

The document discusses maximizing the value of relationships between third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and their customers. It notes that most 3PL-customer relationships are transaction-based and not structured to be strategic. However, there is an opportunity to strengthen relationships that have potential for further improvement. Critical factors for developing strategic relationships include having CEOs champion the relationship, developing trust, creating shared goals focused on customers, contracts that incentivize innovation, and governance through insight rather than just oversight. Moving relationships up the value curve requires both 3PLs and customers to change their mindsets and embrace new approaches like vested outsourcing.

in any way to be a trade show - but instead it is an information gathering and
networking event with senior level presentations, panel debates, interactive
roundtable discussions and a tailored, intimate exhibition space.
Benefits of Exhibiting:
The show will provide you with the perfect opportunity for your sales team to
communicate your message, strengthen your brand, generate valuable new
leads and close more deals. Every time we have a coffee break, your products and
services are on display to the conference audience - you will be able to meet with
and demonstrate your solutions to interested executives with real buying power.
At the Summit there will be dedicated exhibition time when no competing
sessions are taking place - this is your chance to meet the delegates and speakers.
