God sent an evangelist, Egwuonwu, to warn Nigeria's military rulers in 1986 that registering Nigeria as a member of the Organization of Islamic Countries could lead to religious conflict. Egwuonwu demonstrated God's power at a meeting with rulers, causing three men who tried to use charms against him to fall down screaming. He relayed God's message that Nigeria should remain secular.
