An integrated enterprise platform is needed to deploy and use big data effectively alongside existing business processes and information tools. Big data should be introduced incrementally for maximum benefit.
The document discusses how exponential data growth is straining centralized cloud infrastructure and driving up costs due to lack of economies of scale. It argues that a more distributed and decentralized approach is needed to better manage and leverage the vast amount of unused capacity at the edge. This includes distributing data across devices, networks, and data centers instead of concentrating it within massive centralized data centers. A hybrid model is proposed that keeps some functions like policy centralized while pushing processing and storage out closer to where the data is created and used.

Fred Reichheld argues that customer loyalty is key to business growth and profitability. His research found that most companies lose half their customers every 5 years, employees every 4 years, and investors within a year. This disloyalty stunts company growth by 25-50%. Reichheld's loyalty-based management strategy focuses on building superior customer value, finding the right customers and employees, and earning their loyalty through quality products and service. When implemented successfully, this approach leads to increased revenues and market share, sustainable growth, and a cost advantage through higher productivity.
Business Ethics - Whistleblowing and Employee LoyaltyRetno Nindya
The document discusses the concept of whistleblowing and employee loyalty. It explores the debate around whether employees owe a duty of loyalty to their employer or if whistleblowing is permissible when misconduct threatens public interest. While some view loyalty as devotion to an organization, others argue loyalty is only owed to individuals, not abstract entities like companies. The document also examines how companies prioritize profit over individuals and whether whistleblowing is expected when harm is done to society.

Data2030 Summit Data Megatrends Turner Sept 2022.pptxMatt Turner
The next challenge in data is rapidly becoming clear: how can we scale data value and bring data driven decision making to everyone? We’ve made tremendous progress in bringing data together. The megatrends in data - data mesh, data fabric, modern data stack - are all about crossing the last mile to get data to everyone, not just the data experts. How can we empower everyone to better use data? Are the megatrends the road to actually scaling data value? And what does that mean for the data teams and data engineers creating systems and delivering dataops?

Big Data Means Big Business
Big data has the potential to disrupt existing businesses and help create new ones by extracting useful information from huge volumes of structured and unstructured data. To realize this promise, organizations need cheap storage, faster processing, smarter software, and access to larger and more diverse data sets. Big data can unlock new business value by enabling better-informed decisions, discovering hidden insights, and automating business processes. While the technology is available, organizations must also invest in skills, cultural change, and using information as a corporate asset to fully leverage big data.
The white paper discusses how enterprises are facing exponentially growing amounts of data that is breaking down traditional storage architectures. It outlines NetApp's approach to addressing big data challenges through what it calls the "Big Data ABCs" - analytics, bandwidth, and content. This allows customers to gain insights from massive data sets, move data quickly for high-performance applications, and store large amounts of content for long periods without increasing complexity. NetApp provides solutions to help enterprises take advantage of big data and turn it into business value.
This document discusses the value and risks of big data. It begins with defining big data as large and complex data sets that require new technologies to manage and analyze. The document then discusses how big data is used for marketing, recommendations, analytics, and other purposes. It notes both the benefits but also risks of poor data quality and limited governance of big data projects. The document also provides overviews of technologies like Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, and NoSQL that support big data. It questions whether social data should be considered a corporate asset and discusses the complexity of understanding big data risks. Overall, the document aims to highlight both the opportunities and governance challenges presented by big data.
Big data offers significant opportunities but few companies effectively exploit it due to challenges of scale and management. An integrated platform is needed to deploy big data effectively alongside existing systems. Big data must be embedded in business processes and introduced incrementally for maximum benefit.
