Back to the Future: A Review and Editorial Agenda of the International Journa...CSCJournals
In September 2020, in the tenth year of its life, a strong editorial turnaround happened within the International Journal of Business Research and Management (IJBRM). In this vein, editorial and review board members, together with the Journal’s current and future authors, should be made aware of the history of the Journal as well as its future agenda. Thus, this contribution aims to: i) identify the major research themes faced by the Journal’s articles in the past, and ii) define a research agenda for the Journal’s future development. All the 98 articles published in IJBRM up to August 2020 have been initially analyzed according to: i) number of papers published per year, ii) authors’ nationality, and iii) number of papers per research design. Thus, all papers have been thematically analyzed to identify the main research areas they represent. Results show that authors’ institutions are mainly based in Asian countries and the main areas addressed were “Marketing” and “Technology and Innovation Management”. Important implications for editors and future authors arise from the analysis. In particular, to exploit potentially fruitful collaborations in Europe and the Americas, editors and highly involved reviewers are asked to build their own sub-communities around the Journal, including the encouragement of Special Issues on all research areas within the management realm. In addition, authors are asked to explore unfulfilled research areas and to increase the scientific soundness of proposed works.

Relationship among Economic Growth, Internet Usage and Publication Productivity: Comparison among ASEAN and World’s Best Countries
Hossein Gholizadeh, Hadi Salehi, Mohamed Amin Embi, Mahmoud Danaee, Seyed Mohammad Motahar, Nader Ale Ebrahim, Farid Habibi Tanha, Noor Azuan Abu Osman
Abstract
Publication productivity, as measured by the number of papers, has been regarded as one of the main indicators of reputation of countries and institutions. Nevertheless, the relationship among research publications, economic growth and World Wide Web in ASEAN countries is still unclear. The main intention of this study was to identify publication productivity among ASEAN and the world’s top ten countries in the last 16 years (1996-2011). This study also aimed at finding the relationship among publication, gross domestic product (GDP) and internet usage. Furthermore, the publication trend in the 10 first Malaysian universities was evaluated for the same periods. Scopus database was used to find the overall documents, overall citations, citations per document and international collaboration from 1996 to 2011 for each country. The World Bank database (World Data Bank) was used to collect the data for GDP and the number of internet users. Moreover, to evaluate 10 top Malaysian universities, the number of published articles, conferences, reviews, and letters for the same periods was collected. The results of this study showed significant differences among ASEAN and top 10 countries regarding publication productivity. Moreover, a positive and significant relationship was observed between indices, GDP and internet usage for these countries. Surprisingly, international collaboration had a significant and negative relationship with economic growth. Malaysia had fewer citations per document (7.64) and international collaboration (36.9%) among ASEAN countries. In conclusion, international collaboration between academic institutes and researchers is influenced by economic growth and access to internet in the countries. Furthermore, publication trends in ASEAN countries are promising. However, policy makers and science managers should try to find different ways to increase the quality of the research publication and to raise citation per document.

Modified CiteScore metric for reducing the effect of self-citationsTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
Elsevier B.V. launched a scholarly metric called CiteScore (CS) on December 8, 2016. Up till
then, the journal impact factor (JIF) owned by Clarivate Analytics (Thomson Reuters) was the only trusted
metric for journal evaluation. As noted by Teixeira da Silva & Memon (2017), CS offers some observed
advantages over JIF. The potentials of CiteScore as a viable metric are still emerging. The paper briefly
introduces a variant of the CiteScore that can be used in quantifying the impact of researchers and their
institutions. The ultimate aim is to reduce the numerical effect of self-citations (SC) in academic publishing.
The reduction is designed to discourage SC but not diminishing it. The reasons for the adopted
methodology are discussed extensively. The proposed modified CiteScore metric is simple, transparent
and constructed to ensure integrity in academic publication. The result showed that the proposed modified
CiteScore is a better option than the traditional CiteScore and hence, can be applied in impact
determination, the ranking of authors and their institutions, and evaluation of scientists for a grant award.
The approach used in this paper is entirely new in two ways; first, a metric similar to journal ranking is
proposed for ranking authors and their institutions and secondly, disproportionate scores are awarded to
different sources of citations to reduce perceived dishonesty in academic publications. In conclusion, this
research is one of very few to report the effect of SC on CiteScore. Hitherto, the effect of SC has always
been on the journal impact factor (IF).

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2. The last few decades of the 20th century have witnessed a
growing awareness of not only the severity but also the
diversity of environmental problems.
Managing environmental responsibilities has become an
integral part of doing business in the global economy. Poor
environmental performance can damage a company’s
public image, prevent it from achieving its strategic goals
and diminish its financial performance.
In a developing country such as India, environmental reporting
is all the more essential as it will make the politicians,
economists, technologists, sociologists and company
managers aware of the limitations of growth as well as the
suitable course of growth without damaging the environment.
3. As a result of the growing attention and importance generated
by Environmental Reporting at academic level during the past
several decades, this study offers a Bibliometric analysis of
research in the area of environmental reporting. This will allow
us to answer the following questions:
What are the main countries, authors and universities in the
field of environmental reporting?
Which is the main subject area for the field environmental
reporting?
In which year there is maximum number of publications for
environmental reporting?
4. Environmental reporting is the communication
of environmental performance information by an organisation
to its stakeholders.
Information on environmental performance includes among
others:
Impacts on the environment,
Performance in managing those impacts, and
Contribution to ecological and sustainable development.
Nowadays, such information is becoming increasingly
important to satisfy the expectations of stakeholders groups
like: employees, shareholders, the public/ regulators,
contractors, suppliers and other interested parties who have
varying objectives and expectations.
5. Bibliometric Analysis is the statistical method
to analyse research literature such as books,
articles, journals or any other publications.
It is a statistical tool which shows
quantitatively the analysis of written
publications.
It helps to study the pattern and trends of
authorship, publications and literature use.
6. To select articles for this research paper the Scopus database is
applied.
The Sciverse Scopus was launched in November 2004 by Elsevier
and comprised over 69 million records from about 22000 peer-
reviewed journals.
It performs such features as search by documents, authors, affiliation,
advanced search and refine results by source type, year, language,
author, affiliation and more.
It uses various tools and quality measures such as tracking citations
over time for a set of authors or documents, viewing the H- Index for
specific authors, gaining insight into journal performance with
Citescore, SNIP and SJR, visualisation of data exporting MS Excel.
7. After the selection of database, searching step was
conducted.
In Scopus, the search was done by a query
“Environmental Reporting in India” in title, abstract or
keywords of articles.
Further, some limitations were set up, such as publication
year from 2009 to 2019, and language was set as –
‘English’ resulting in 156 articles.
