The document summarizes key findings from the Bentley University Millennial Preparedness Study, which surveyed over 3,000 individuals from various groups to understand perceptions of millennial workplace preparedness. The study found a preparedness gap between students, employers, and higher education. While most agree preparedness involves skills, experience, and traits, definitions varied between groups. Business leaders, recruiters, and parents generally gave recent grads low grades for preparedness. Solutions proposed closing the gap through collaboration between students, educators, parents, and businesses.

India primary education system is among the largest in the world with nearly 1.5 million schools and over 100 million students enrolled. This large size warrants significant investments to provide high quality education at primary levels. Over the years, the government has worked on strengthening its education system at the elementary level through various policies and schemes such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Mid-day meal scheme, Right to Education Act (RTE), among others. This has in turn resulted in a six times growth in number of schools offering primary education, thirteen times increase in number of teachers, and doubling of Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) from 1950 to 2016.

Challenge the Gap is a school improvement program aimed at breaking the link between poverty and poor educational outcomes. It focuses on a small "Target Cohort" of underperforming disadvantaged students and builds school leadership capacity to analyze student needs and implement evidence-based strategies. In the program's first year, Target Cohort students met or exceeded national progress targets. Schools then cascade effective practices school-wide, improving outcomes for all students and narrowing achievement gaps. Data shows Challenge the Gap schools outperformed national averages for disadvantaged students at both primary and secondary levels in 2015.
The document discusses trends and issues in early childhood education. Key trends include a growing awareness among parents of the benefits of early childhood programs, leading to increased enrollment. Programs are moving beyond basic daycare to offer stimulating learning environments and physical activities. Inquiry-based learning through student questions is also increasing. While early technology integration focuses on basic skills, students will need foundations for online learning. Major issues include shortages of trained teachers, lack of parental awareness, and insufficient facilities/funding. Solutions involve improving physical resources, increasing public awareness, hiring more female teachers, and providing additional teacher support.

This document discusses different types of prior art searches including patentability searches, validity searches, freedom-to-operate (FTO) searches, and state-of-the-art searches. It explains that a prior art search aims to identify any publicly available information, publications, or knowledge that existed before the filing date of a patent application. The document outlines when each type of search is typically conducted, the scope and focus of each search, and whether patent or non-patent literature is searched. It also provides a brief overview of how prior art searches can help inventors, companies, and patent holders by avoiding infringement, strengthening patent applications and defenses, and keeping up with competition and technology developments.

Falling Short? College Learning and Career SuccessRobert Kelly
Key findings from survey among 400 employers and 613 college students conducted in November and December 2014 for the Association of American Colleges and Universities by Hart Research Associates.
From November 3 to 11, 2014, Hart Research Associates conducted an online survey on behalf of the Association of American Colleges and Universities among 400 employers whose organizations have at least 25 employees and report that 25% or more of their new hires hold either an associate degree from a two-year college or a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college. Respondents are executives at private sector and nonprofit organizations, including owners, CEOs, presidents, C-suite level executives, and vice presidents. The objective of the survey is to understand which learning outcomes employers believe are most important to acquire to be able to succeed in today’s economy, how prepared they believe recent college graduates are in these areas, and employers’ feelings about the importance of applied and project-based learning in college.
In addition, from November 13 to December 3, 2014, Hart Research conducted an online survey among 613 college students. Respondents included 455 four-year college seniors (304 at public colleges and 151 at private colleges) and 158 community college students who plan to receive their associate degree or transfer to a four-year college within the next 12 months. This survey explored many of the same topics as the survey of employers in order to provide a comparative perspective among college students. This report highlights selected findings from both the research among employers and the survey of current college students.
The majority of employers continue to say that possessing both field-specific knowledge and a broad range of knowledge and skills is important for recent college graduates to achieve long-term career success. Very few indicate that acquiring knowledge and skills mainly for a specific field or position is the best path for long-term success. Notably, college students recognize the importance of having both breadth and depth of skills and knowledge for their workplace success.
Employers say that when hiring, they place the greatest value on demonstrated proficiency in skills and knowledge that cut across all majors. The learning outcomes they rate as most important include written and oral communication skills, teamwork skills, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and the ability to apply knowledge in real-world settings. Indeed, most employers say that these cross-cutting skills are more important to an individual’s success at their company than his or her undergraduate major.
However, employers feel that today’s college graduates are not particularly well prepared to achieve the learning outcomes that they view as important. This critique applies to all of the 17 learning outcomes tested, including the cross-cutting skills that employers highly value.

Universities place importance on extra-curricular experience in university applications, though academic grades remain the most important factor. Extra-curriculars are particularly important when grades of applicants are similar, for competitive courses, and those with interviews. The value of extra-curriculars varies between institutions, courses, and types of applicants. While universities recognize their importance, there is no consensus on whether the admissions process emphasizes them enough. Extra-curriculars can demonstrate skills and experiences that make applicants stand out from their peers.

Chegg is publishing a brand new data report detailing the growing skills gap and a culture of complacency – educators, employers and students acknowledge the gap exists, but they each believe other parties are responsible. The report comes from a new study of university educators, college students, and hiring managers and brings a new, important perspective to Chegg’s findings from last year’s “Bridge That Gap” study.
The document summarizes key findings from a survey of 302 employers on their views of college learning and student preparation. Nearly half of employers had layoffs in the past year due to the economic downturn. While most employers plan to keep staff levels steady, 38% plan to increase hiring. Employers expect to place more emphasis on hiring bachelor's degree holders. They also believe higher levels of learning are now needed for success and that colleges can improve preparation for today's challenges. Employers value both broad and specific skills for career advancement. High-impact educational practices like internships and projects are seen as highly valuable for student preparation.
This document discusses findings from a survey of 1,300 prospective graduate students conducted by Chegg in 2014. Some key findings include:
- Most students (66%) start researching graduate schools by their junior year of undergrad.
- Finances are the top influencing factor for students when deciding where to apply, far outweighing other considerations like program reputation.
- Students primarily use online search engines rather than graduate fairs to research schools.
- Social media has limited influence on where students apply or attend.
The document recommends ways for graduate programs to partner with Chegg to increase awareness, engage students during the research process, and ultimately drive more applications through targeted digital outreach and content.
The document discusses critical issues facing higher education leaders in 2014. It identifies five key areas of focus: continued scrutiny of higher education; prioritization of outcomes; retention culture; blended learning opportunities; and regionalization of online education. It provides data and analysis on each issue, noting the importance of clearly communicating value to stakeholders given concerns over cost and debt. Career preparation is outpacing other factors in attracting students, so institutions must ensure their career training meets expectations.

The document discusses the need for colleges and universities to reinvent their career services in order to better support students and improve job placement outcomes. It notes that traditional career services models are outdated and institutions must now dedicate more resources to help students connect with employers and secure jobs. Specifically, schools need systems to track student career outcomes, integrate student data, facilitate connections between students and employers, and measure the impact of career services programs. The white paper outlines recommendations for how schools can strengthen career services through strategic planning, enhanced advising, and use of technology.
The document discusses a survey of students regarding career preparation and the future of work. Some key findings include:
1) Most students see taking ownership of their learning and developing skills like problem solving and critical thinking as their responsibility, with some support from education providers.
2) Students are more likely than current workers to prefer a hybrid work model that combines working from home and the office.
3) The top opportunities students see are career mobility, productivity from technology, and entrepreneurship rather than just traditional employment.
4) While many students have an idea of their ideal career path, some remain unsure or have not chosen one yet as they finish their studies.
These are the summary results of a survey of over 40 college of business Deans. In it we explore what curricula and services they are offering to support student career development
The document discusses a six-point plan to increase academic rigor in schools by committing to rigor for all students, conducting an inventory of advanced course offerings, supporting teacher professional development, aligning curricula between middle and high school, using data to inform decisions and identify prospective students, and offering a fully aligned college readiness system with AP courses. The plan is presented as a treatment to address concerns about student preparation for college.
This document provides information for parents about post-sixth form options for students at WHS. It summarizes that there are now more options than just university, jobs, or a gap year. It also outlines the university application process, emphasizing the importance of researching options, predicting grades accurately, writing a strong personal statement, and meeting deadlines. Financial considerations and the competitive landscape for university and jobs are also addressed.
This annual report summarizes the activities and accomplishments of BizWorld.org for the 2013-2014 school year. Key highlights include:

- The organization expanded its global reach by opening new international offices in Denmark, Mexico, Italy, and the UK.
- Evaluations found that 98% of teachers agreed the program effectively teaches business concepts and 21st century skills. Student assessments showed large gains in financial literacy and entrepreneurship knowledge.
- Innovations included launching BizMovie 2.0, an animated movie-making STEM program.
- Events were held to recognize leaders
The document is ACT's annual report on college and career readiness among US high school graduates. Some key findings:
- 59% of the 2015 graduating class took the ACT, up from 57% in 2014.
- 40% met 3 or 4 ACT college readiness benchmarks, though 31% met none.
- Opportunities for improvement exist in reading and science where 10% scored within 2 points of the benchmark.
- 86% of students aspired to postsecondary education but only 69% enrolled in 2014, leaving room to close the aspirational gap.

2. OVERVIEW
Millennials are expected to compose
the largest work force in U.S. history.
But are they prepared?
In October 2013, Bentley University
commissioned KRC Research to conduct
the Millennial Preparedness Study to define
the preparedness gap that millennials face
in today’s workplace.
Insights from the study—which represents the
single-most comprehensive survey on millennial
preparedness in the workplace—are helping
inform the PreparedU Project, a collaborative,
dialogue-driven initiative that seeks solutions
to the preparedness gap.

3. THE RESEARCH
Do millennials feel prepared for their first job and career? Is the higher education
model successfully preparing graduates with the skills and experience they
need to be workforce-ready? What is the business community’s role in shaping
millennials’ success?
There’s an apparent preparedness gap between students, employers, and higher
education. That’s why we launched the PreparedU Project and partnered with
KRC Research to develop this groundbreaking study, which included:
KRC Research conducted 3,149 interviews among nine unique audiences. Fieldwork took place between October 17 and October 25, 2013.
The survey was conducted online and took an average of twenty-nine minutes to complete. The margin of sampling error for the total sample is +/- 1.75 percent.
at the 95 percent confidence level, and is larger for the 9 audience sub-groups.
