Pomegranates are mentioned in the Quran and hadith as growing in paradise. They provide many health benefits including being rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Prophet Muhammad recommended eating pomegranates and their rinds to strengthen digestion. Modern research has found pomegranates support heart, immune, and joint health and can inhibit cancer growth. They were used in traditional Islamic medicine as remedies for various ailments.

3. Sahih International: And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and
We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery
from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees -
of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of
grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each
of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a
people who believe.

Nutritionally, pomegranate fruit is rich in Vitamin C and contain 65 calories and it
is a good source of sodium, riboflavin and calcium. A handful of grains
for suhoor (pre-dawn meal) are ideal for balanced health over the Ramadan
fasting period.

 Prophet Muhammad of Islam, peace be upon him, told his companions that
each pomegranate potentially held a heavenly grain,
 “There is not a pomegranate which does not have a pip from one of the
pomegranate of the Garden (Jannah) in it.” (Abu Nu’aim)
 And these pips, along with the outer skin, are rich with antioxidant and
antibacterial properties, testimony to its benefits for cleansing the palate.
The prophet therefore also said, “Pomegranate and its rind strengthen
digestion (stomach).” (Abu Nuaim, narrated by `Ali)

 Recent studies state that pomegranate is significant for the treatment of
many diseases. Among the latest researches is what has been revealed by
American and European scientists concerning the benefits of pomegranate for
pregnant women for it is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and easily absorbed
salts. Besides, researchers confirm that having one pomegranate for a period
of month, for instance, or even more helps in curing anemia, arthritis, and
rheumatism. In addition, it has other benefits for the heart and arteries.
Pomegranate is also beneficial for children, nursing women, young and old
people. This helps us realize why Allah, the Great, mentioned pomegranate in
the holy Qur’an.

bad LDL cholesterol from. In addition, pomegranate can help keep blood
platelets from clumping together to form unwanted clots. Also they found
that pomegranate improves the amount of oxygen getting to the heart muscle
of patients with coronary heart and other researchers report that long-term
consumption of pomegranate juice may help combat erectile dysfunction and
might prevent prostate cancer or slow its growth. Allah Almighty describes
what is in heaven for believers: (In them (both) will be fruits, and date- palms
and pomegranates){ Sûrat Ar-Rahmân - The Most Gracious -verse68

We believe that people in heaven will not eat Pomegranates as a treatment for
diseases but He Almighty created that fruit for people to eat and to benefit from
it in life and as a source of pleasure and enjoyment in heaven.

 Islam Reveals Pomegranates Are Growing In Paradise
 Islam reveals that pomegranates are among the fruits found in Paradise. Not
only that, but according to a statement of the Prophet Muhammad, “There is
not a pomegranate which does not have a pip from one of the pomegranates
of the Garden (of Heaven) in it.” These lyrical verses from the Holy Quran
testify that pomegranates are growing in Heaven, in the Gardens of Paradise:
 “…And besides these two, there are two other Gardens… …In them will be
Fruits, and dates and pomegranates, Then which of the favours of your Lord
will ye deny?” [Quran 55:62-69]

12. Usage in Traditional Islamic Remedies
 Pomegranates are used as remedies in traditional Islamic medicine, based on
the recorded saying of the Prophet Muhammad, God’s peace and blessings be
upon him, “Pomegranate and its rind strengthen digestion.” In Egypt, still
today, the pomegranate rind is dried and saved for later reconstitution as a
tea to cure dysentery, diarrhea, intestinal parasites, and the symptoms of E.
Coli bacteria. It is also commonly believed that eating pomegranates prevents
ophthalmia, an inflammation of the eye.

13. Usage in Traditional Islamic Remedies
 Modern research has linked the pomegranate with the following health
benefits:
 Supports cardiovascular health; a study published in the American Journal of
Cardiology found that patients who drank pomegranate juice daily had
improved heart function.
 Help support a healthy immune system;
 Help support normal blood pressure levels;
 Help maintain healthy joint function;
 Assist in maintaining oral/dental health;
 Can inhibit cancer cell growth
