This study proposes to present a sample design of a flipped learning instructional model for teaching Islamic Studies course at an Indonesian higher education institution. A bottom-up flipped learning model was developed in this study, based on Bloom’s taxonomy of educational objectives. A Learning Management System (LMS), Schoology, was employed as a platform to share pre-class video lectures for student learning activities outside-of-class. Three main activities proposed by the researchers outside of the class activities, namely, Watching, Summarizing, and Notetaking (WSN), whereas give and take conversation is the main class activity. This study implies that the bottom-up flipped learning model could potentially be implemented for teaching Islamic studies course in Indonesian higher education institutions, with the aim of fostering students' highest level of cognitive domains and independent learning skills. This study has implications for the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia or policymakers to consider the flipped classroom as a contemporary teaching model for teaching Islamic studies course and other subjects at any in Indonesian higher education institutions.
Distance education provides flexible access to education for students who are unable to attend traditional in-person classes. It utilizes various technologies to deliver instruction either synchronously, with all participants attending at the same time, or asynchronously, allowing students to access materials on their own schedule. Distance education expands access to education, can be as effective as in-person learning when done well, and increases communication among students. It also has financial benefits by reducing transportation and textbook costs. Studies show that high student satisfaction with distance education courses is correlated with improved performance, as motivated students learn more effectively. When implemented thoughtfully, technology can extend educational opportunities and support learning for both students and teachers.
This document discusses distance education and the history of associated technologies. It defines distance education as a system for delivering educational content to learners who are not physically present in a classroom, using an interactive combination of technologies. Early distance education relied on printed materials delivered by post. Through the 1970s-80s, computer-assisted training and coursework required using computers on-site. Modern distance education utilizes video conferencing, e-learning websites accessible via the Internet, and smartphone apps, allowing more flexible online learning. The number of students using distance education technologies has dramatically increased each year.
Distance education is education that takes place when the source of information and the learners are separated by physical distance, typically using the internet. It allows students to learn at their own pace without attending traditional in-person classes. There are three main models of distance education: correspondence which involves limited collaboration, multimedia which uses television and radio networks, and flexible learning which allows students worldwide to access materials at the same time through various technologies. Distance education has advantages like lower costs, flexibility, and the ability to learn from anywhere in the world, but also disadvantages such as lack of immediate feedback and social interaction compared to traditional classrooms.
Distance education provides flexible access to education for students who are unable to attend traditional in-person classes. It can be delivered synchronously, with all participants attending online classes simultaneously, or asynchronously through self-paced learning materials. Distance education offers several benefits, including expanding access to education, being as effective as face-to-face learning when instructors are skilled, and increasing communication among students. It can also save students significant costs on transportation and textbooks compared to traditional education. When designed and implemented well to meet students' needs, distance education can lead to high student satisfaction and improved learning outcomes.

Modern technologies that have increased distance education include video conferencing, e-learning websites, smartphones, and online classes, with the latter seeing dramatic growth since the 1960s as the Internet has expanded opportunities for education.
The document discusses the past, present and future of education. In the past, education involved chalkboards and group studies. Currently, powerpoint and internet are widely used. In the future, education may become more accessible through distance learning and the use of social media and mobile technologies. Challenges will include keeping students focused without direct supervision and ensuring all students can benefit from new technologies.

Flexible Learning Environment and Online Resources, Educational Sites and Portals
What is Distance Learning Environment?
Flexible learning is a method of learning where students are given freedom in how, what, when and where they learn. Flexible learning environments address how physical space is used, how students are grouped during learning and how time is used throughout teaching. With space, students may be given dedicated breakout rooms to work collaboratively. Schools may restructure traditional schedules to provide students with time for collaboration and other activities such as guest speakers or performances to assist their understanding of a topic.
Flexible learning refers to the ability to customize one’s pace, place and mode of learning. With pace, for example, students may take accelerated programs or engage in part-time learning to ensure they have time to work on the side. Learning can take place in a variety of settings, including in the classroom, at home via the Internet, while commuting or as part of a work-study program. Mode refers to the way that content is delivered by technology, typically through blended learning, fully online courses or technology-enhanced experiences.
The document discusses virtual schooling and the role of technology, distant collaboration, and local facilitation. It notes that technology allows for self-paced instruction, worldwide access, and high levels of interactivity. Distant collaboration provides students with flexibility and more personalized interaction. How The Internet And Technology Have Improved EducationRita Lee
Technology is a powerful tool that can take education to a completely new level. Today students can show their preferences and interests to focus on as they have access to endless sources of information that can be useful for them. Of course, some new technologies and devices haven’t reached classrooms yet but their educational value has already been estimated and soon they will find their place in modern educational institutions.
Online education has several advantages and disadvantages according to the document. The key advantages are efficiency of delivery, accessibility of time and place, affordability, and improved student attendance. However, the main disadvantages include the inability to focus on screens for long periods, technology issues with internet connectivity, a sense of isolation without physical interaction, lack of teacher training, and concerns about increased student screen time. Understanding these pros and cons can help institutions develop strategies for effective online learning.

LEARNING?
S) Defines online learning as” education
that takes place over the Internet. It is often
referred to as e-learning among other terms.
However, online learning is just one type of distance

3. HOW HAS THE LOCKDOWN INTRODUCED
AND EXPANDED ONLINE LEARNING.
Most tertiary institutions and schools were aware of the
technological resources at their disposal before the Covid19 mandated
shutdown, but had never utilized them. Schools and tertiary institutions
were then compelled to implement and make use of teaching and
learning techniques like online learning during the lockdown, For the sake of
academic progress. Efficiency, accessibility in terms of time and location,
and the ability to accommodate different learning styles are all advantages
of the introduction and growth of online learning that were experienced
during the lockdown.
4. EFFICIENCY
During lockdown teachers had the
ability to effectively give
lessons through online learning
systems. Those teachers that
could, used most of the resources
that were available. Resources
such as podcasts, PDFs, videos
and platforms such as WhatsApp,
