The Belt and Road Initiative is China's development strategy proposed by President Xi Jinping to boost connectivity and cooperation among Eurasian countries. It focuses on developing land-based Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. The initiative aims to coordinate infrastructure investment and manufacturing capacity among countries along six corridors to diversify China's transportation routes and productively use its capital reserves while taking on a larger global economic role.
