CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
On-the-job Training served as a tool in performing a task related to a
particular job career. Employees are designated with the corresponding
activities which associates with their chosen profession and to be guided by
their supervisors. OJT was provided by the Commission on Higher Education
or CHED as one of the college and universities curriculum with one (100)
hundred hours of training. This is a partial fulfillment as the requirements for all
the courses such as the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration.
This would be a great impact for the students to be more productive and
to be familiarize with the working environment. A way to socialize and have a
collaborative idea with their fellow workers. Developing the students to learn,
enhance their capabilities and obtain other experiences within the workplace.
OJT is a process of giving the students an opportunity to expose in a situation
where they can do their job responsibilities and obligations to perform an
excellent outcome.
Making some options for the undergraduate just to undergo this process
of training as well as to overcome and surpass the challenging workloads. Such
as doing work from home and going to campus some of the time to fulfill their
duties were the options.
At this point, they will measure their determination, the love and
commitment for their job obligations and responsibilities. A company will
definitely have its development because of its workers who strive hard and
really want to prove and improve their capabilities.
11. 2
Proper management of OJT gives the student-trainees a benefit in their
skills by preparing them for their future work. They will not just be academically
knowledgeable but also increase their socialization because they practice
themselves to effectively communicate which results in teamwork with other
people during work. Being good at communicating is a requirement to make a
work outstanding and a source to make good teamwork. Therefore, OJT allows
the trainees to be professionally friendly and ready for future work between
employees (either high or low positions) because they have already
experienced it during this training. Being good at this skill will help them adjust
themselves according to the different attitudes and personalities of the
employees.
Accommodating on-the-job trainees can truly be beneficial not only to
the trainees but also to the companies that provide opportunities to this type of
learning. They can fine-tune their lessons after seeing how they operate in
practice. With this, rest assured that the growth and development of each
student is still evident during the internship.
OJT is essential not only to give students additional knowledge about their
chosen job career but also to let them know the different techniques on how to
operate and manage machinery, specifically technology. The tasks in real work
help the students to work with limits but still bring the best output that they can.
Also, it enhances students’ critical thinking, decision making, and performing
self-discipline which is a major requirement in actual work rules. Indeed, this
will be a great help for the future of the student, not just as a worker but as a
person too.
12. 3
OBJECTIVES
1. To provide students with work experience relevant to their chosen field of
specialization.
2. To give students the opportunity to apply all the things they learned from
classroom instructions and discover new knowledge to facilitate improvement.
3. To provide trainees the opportunity to acquire more skills and techniques in
doing various tasks and responsibilities.
4. To enable students to develop a sense of professionalism, love of work, and
commitment to people they serve.
5. To experience positive interpersonal skills, thereby enhancing their ability to
interact successfully in a wider community.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ON-THE-JOB TRAINING
Everyone considers as a philosopher that continues to learn for their
every-day living. A student should know the importance of on-the-job
training to fulfill his/her duties as an employee. Unlocking a new chapter to
further understand a certain thing especially in the working environment.
Appropriate process of training so they could acquire a lot of skills and
information.
1. On-the-Job Training was implemented for the tertiary students as a process
to become more proficient and to familiarize with the current real working
situations.
2. They might encounter some trouble and difficulties if they don’t have any
ideas and information regarding to the working environment so OJT will
help us to develop our wisdom and capabilities.
13. 4
3. OJT has a significant benefit to the trainees where they can attain skills and
knowledge in all technical and managerial field that is needed in the
career.
4. An opportunity to collaborate with other professional sectors where we can
adopt knowledge and ideas on how to deal in public with different kinds
of human behavior.
5. Determining and criticizing the growth of the company as well as the
performance of both trainee and trainer.
However, this on-the-job training is not just providing several insights
and focusing on work experiences but also to realize the importance of
socializing, communicating at interacting with a wider community.
Developing unity, striving hard to meet the organization’s standards and
goals to conquer the better working environment.

COMPANY PROFILE
VISION
LSPU is a center of technology innovation that promotes interdisciplinary
learning, sustainable utilization of resources, collaboration, and partnership
with the community and stakeholders.
MISSION
LSPU, driven by progressive leadership, is a premier institution providing
technology-mediated agriculture, fisheries, and other related and emerging
disciplines significantly contributing to the growth and development of the
region and nation.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
This state institution (LSPU) started from its humble beginnings in 1952.
It was first established as a provincial high school known as Baybay Provincial
High School, the first public high school established in the shoreline (baybay)
district of Laguna de Bay, and the second in the whole Province of Laguna.
Then in 1957, by virtue of Republic Act No. 1807 in June 1957, the Baybay
Provincial High School was converted into Baybay National Agricultural and
Vocational School (BNAVS).
BNAVS became the PACD-BVE Training Center in rice production for
American Peace Corps Volunteers. This center produced 682 graduates. The
Manpower Training Center Started to operate in the school year 1968-1969.
BNAVS also became the pilot school for the 2-year Agricultural Technician
15. 6
Curriculum, Associate in Agriculture. This started in December 1969 with 8
enrollee.
With the passage/approval of HB 269 into law in June 1971: Republic
Act No. 6321, it converted BNAVS into Baybay National College of Agriculture
and Technology (BNCAT). BNCAT then was offering the following courses:
1) Secondary Agriculture Curriculum;
2) Two-year Associate in Agriculture (technical course);
3) degree courses leading to Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (2nd Semester
1975-76), and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education (First Semester
1977-78).
The College was also one of the Experimental Agricultural High Schools
(EAHS) selected by the Educational Development Projects Implementing Task
Force (EDPITAF) under Presidential Decree No. 6-A, to receive World Bank
Aid in terms of infrastructure, equipment, and staff development.
This state institution was a grantee of the Agricultural Education
Outreach Project (AEOP) from 1980 to 1983. AEOP was a research project of
the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Research
programs became more prioritized and government extension programs
became more aggressive.
On June 10, 1983, by virtue of Batas Pambansa No. 482, BNCAT was
further converted into a state college, known as the Laguna State Polytechnic
College. From then on the Laguna State Polytechnic College grew bigger and
better, with the incumbency of Dr. Ricardo A. Wagan as the first College
16. 7
President in 1986, several projects and infrastructure developments poured
into LSPC. Among the remarkable accomplishments then were as follows:
In 1993, this state institution was designated by the Department of
Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) as one of the seven (7) Provincial
Technical Institutes of Agriculture (PTIAs) in Region IV under the Aus-
AID-AGRITECH Project aimed at improving the curriculum, instructional
programs and the development of practical and applied researches.
It opened four (4) satellite campuses through Memoranda of Agreements with
the local governments; and It integrated the following three (3) CHED-

CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED
On-the-job training (OJT) is a valuable experience for new employees, as
it allows them to apply the skills and knowledge they have learned in the
classroom to a real-world setting. However, OJT can also be challenging, as it is
a time of learning and adjustment. Every trainee encountered challenges while
working, but there are also equivalent solutions they can use to address these
faults or shortcomings.
There are many challenges the trainee encountered, the first thing is time
management. Due to my status as a student and must fulfill my academic
obligations. To complete an assignment over the course, time management is
necessary. Meeting new colleague is also a challenge for me because not all
people have the same attitude especially in the actual workplace, you will meet
different people and you have to get along with those you meet. There are times
that my supervisor doesn’t gave me any tasks because he finished that when he
has a free time, as a result, I go or I assigned to different supervisors and gives
different task, the capacity to work under pressure became a struggle .
CORRECTIVE MEASURES
Every trainee had their difficulties during their working time but take note
that there are also corresponding solutions. The trainee has learned many things
in coping with the challenges she encountered. Having an effective time
management the trainee should learn of setting realistic goals in every tasks.
Prioritize every given task and should be established based on the importance
and urgency of each task. Concentrate on one task at a time. In handling different
26. 17
people the trainee must have a clear understanding of roles, responsibilities, and
performance expectations. Clear communication helps prevent
misunderstandings and aligns goals.
Regardless in such difficulties, it is natural to face them because it will
enable the trainee to advance and strengthen his/her working abilities.
Additionally, it will enhance her readiness for the realities of the workplace
because not all individuals learn the same way. All of these challenges and
difficulties will teach the trainee something, since it will prepare the trainee in real
workplace.
27. 18
CHAPTER 4
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
SUMMARY
On-the-Job Training is important for the students to experience because
it improves their skills and develops their capacity to work based on what they
have learned from school. It serves as a practice before they graduate for them
to realize what experiences and processes they will expect when they are
already working in a modern or legal office. Nowadays, it is necessary because
improvement or innovation of working materials is happening, and if the student
is knowledgeable enough on how to operate or explore such materials, it can be
his/her advantage.
The trainee's journey was challenging because the Area she belongs to (Faculty
Office), prioritized the outcome rather than the time requirement. It may sound
strict and terrifying but it enhances their abilities and strengthens their ability to
work based on what they have learn in school. It serves as a practice before
students graduate, allowing them to anticipate the experiences and processes
they would encounter when working in a contemporary or legal office. The
trainee encountered a very disciplined and inspiring OJT instructor, and other
instructor that acts very professionally. The trainee discovered how to exhibit
effort and patience in order to complete the full assignment entrusted to them.
Every In the workplace, the hours, minutes, and seconds are critical. As a trainee
I have learned so many skills but its not enough for me to strive more learning.
On-the-Job Training is a great way to improve skills and acquire new ones.
RECOMMENDATIONS
28. 19
Potential of the Company as Training Ground
The trainee would like to recommend LSPU-SCC College of Business,
Administration, and Accountancy – Faculty Office to other and future trainees
as a training ground because it offers an OJT program that is truly exceptional
in its commitment to providing students with an enriching, transformative
experience and healthy training. The trainee would like to suggest it to other
and future trainees as a place to improve their abilities.
This is a setting where the organization as a whole, the coordinator, the
teacher, and the supervisor make a great effort to highlight and accentuate the
trainees strengths. These mentors have practical industry experience and
expertise to provide students with valuable insights, supervision, and support.
The students benefit from this on-the-job training by behave in a professional
manner and carry out their obligations as workers.
Recommending the faculty as a training ground for OJT offers numerous
advantages for the future trainees. By leveraging the faculty's expertise, students
can develop practical skills, gain valuable experience, and establish connections
that will benefit them in their future careers. Integrating practical training within
the educational setting not only enhances the overall learning experience but
also equips students with the necessary tools to succeed in their chosen fields.
Therefore, it is imperative for educational institutions to recognize the faculty's
potential as a training ground for OJT and implement programs that maximize
this opportunity.
29. 20
Duration of Training
The duration of training in LSPU-SCC College of Business,
Administration, and Accountancy – Faculty Office is one hundred (100) hours
is neither long nor short. It was good enough to teach and acquire all the
knowledge that the trainee should learn. It helps the trainee to be competent in
the work environment by providing a good output for each task. It made the
trainee know the purpose of working with values and ethics, which is necessary
for any work. It has enough time to learn and understand the different office
procedures that will be needed in the trainee’s future work journey.
Proposed Revisions for the Improvement of the Program
To begin, the trainee suggest that it is essential to establish clear objectives
and goals for the OJT program. By defining these, both the trainee and the
organization can align their efforts and understand what needs to be achieved during
the training period. Clear objectives provide a sense of direction and purpose,
helping trainees focus their efforts and track their progress effectively. .Next,
developing a structured training plan is crucial for the success of the OJT program.
This plan should outline the tasks, skills, and knowledge that trainees need to
acquire during their training period. A comprehensive and well-organized training
plan ensures that trainees experience various aspects of the job and gain a broad
understanding of their role within the organization.
Encouraging trainees to continue their learning and development even
after completing the OJT program is crucial for their professional growth.
Providing resources such as workshops, seminars, or online courses allows
30. 21
trainees to further expand their knowledge and skills in their chosen field. By
fostering a culture of continuous learning, organizations promote lifelong learning
and empower their employees to stay abreast of industry trends and
advancements. Lastly, assigning experienced mentors to guide and support
trainees throughout the OJT program is paramount. Mentors play a vital role in
providing regular feedback, addressing trainee questions and concerns, and
helping trainees develop their skills. Regular mentoring sessions allow for open
communication, enabling trainees to learn from their mentors' expertise and
experience. These revisions will empower trainees to develop their skills, gain
practical experience, and seamlessly transition into the workforce, ultimately
contributing to their success and the growth of the organization.
Advise to the Future Trainee
On-the-job training (OJT) programs offer an invaluable opportunity for students
to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience. It's a
chance to immerse oneself in the real-world work environment, gain hands-on
experience, and develop essential skills for their chosen career path.
To ensure you make the most of your OJT experience, here's an advice or guide
with practical advice and insights:
Embrace a Learning Mindset: Approach your training with a genuine desire to
learn and grow. Be open to new ideas, challenges, and perspectives. View every
task, no matter how mundane, as an opportunity to gain knowledge and hone
your skills. Ask questions, seek clarifications, and actively participate in
discussions. Remember, on the job training is not just about completing tasks
but about absorbing knowledge and developing competencies.
Cultivate a Positive Attitude: A positive attitude is essential for a successful
31. 22
OJT experience. Approach your work with enthusiasm, dedication, and a
willingness to learn. Be proactive, take initiative, and show genuine interest in
the tasks assigned to you. Your positive attitude will not only enhance your
learning but also foster a positive working relationship with your supervisors and
colleagues.
Be Adaptable and Flexible: The workplace is a dynamic environment, and OJT
trainees must be adaptable and flexible. Be prepared to adjust to new situations,
learn new skills, and adapt to different work styles. Embrace the unexpected and
view challenges as opportunities to showcase your problem-solving abilities.
Build Strong Relationships: Interpersonal skills are crucial for success in any
professional field. During your duty, make an effort to build positive relationships
with your supervisors, colleagues, and other staff members. Show respect, be
courteous, and actively participate in team activities.
Enjoy the Journey: On the Job Training is a valuable learning experience that
should be enjoyed. Embrace the opportunity to explore your chosen field,
network with professionals, and discover your true potential. Approach each day
with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Make the most of your OJT
journey, and you'll be well-equipped to launch a successful career. Even if it may
be challenging at first, perseverance always pays off. Keep in mind that the
rewards for your hard work are what will provide you the most happiness.
Therefore, the trainee would want to offer some straightforward advise to the
incoming student or intern.
