Anderson will discuss how to use themes and key assets to develop "trails" that connect communities and create rich experiences for visitors. The goal is to allow the theme to determine the geography rather than just connecting a group of contiguous counties. Collaboration is the key to successful trail building, so learn how it's done.
Historic Environment Staff Local Engagement Workshopsounddelivery
English Heritage, the IHBC and ALGAO: England, along with the digital media agency sounddelivery ran training workshops in Birmingham and York for Historic Environment professionals to look at ways in which they could engage local communities in the work they do and to see what role social media can play in achieving that goal. These workshops form part of the 5 year strategy to assist local authorities to develop their Heritage Environment Records (HERs). This presentation supported the day.
Empower Yourself: Negotiate For The User - UserFocus 2012Carol Smith
In this upbeat talk Carol will provide you with the most influential ideas in business and how you can use them to empower yourself and to better negotiate for the needs of the users. Being a User Experience professional requires great social skills for facilitation; working with team members, stakeholders and clients; and for making sometimes difficult recommendations. Negotiation is the most important social skill for a UX professional. We negotiate on behalf of users throughout the development life cycle. Unfortunately, many of us are not taught skills that will help us be good negotiators. This session will provide the audience with tools to become effective negotiators in their personal and professional lives.

Every start has a story. We started ours by clearing out where we can put our strongest skills and experiences to bring the greatest benefits to your business. Our accomplishments determined
our orientation towards B2B and B2C sectors. To make it a real success story, we do not consider being just a marketing solutions supplier, but our results-oriented professionals strive to create value for your business as if they were a part of
your own marketing team.
You’ve dipped your toes into social media: you’ve got a Facebook page, Twitter feed, YouTube channel, and CEO blog set up.
But now what?
Back up.
Social media is about free and open conversations online but your organization still needs to have a plan of action. Take a hold of your communications plan and start afresh.
This workshop is for organizations that dipped (or maybe dove headfirst) into social media, but are now wondering what the next steps are and how they can make their social media investment more focused and worthwhile.
Attendees Will Walk Away With:
- Knowledge of how social media is changing the way nonprofits operate and what it means to be a networked nonprofit
- Tips on how to determine which social networks your organization's key audiences are using and how to create a social media strategy
- Information on receiving buy-in from staff, management, and boards
