Behavioral science has made important contributions to diabetes care and self-management, including developing interventions to help patients manage their disease through diet, exercise, medication adherence, and glucose monitoring. However, more opportunities remain to apply behavioral science approaches to address the complex challenges of diabetes prevention and treatment. Effective management requires an integrated biopsychosocial model of care that considers both medical and behavioral factors.
