BBB Accreditation Ranks Highly with
Buyers Says Nielsen Survey
In October, 2014, Nielsen surveyed 1,024 consumers in the U.S. to determine
what factors influence their decisions to buy and where they go to gather reliable
information. BBB was shown to be a highly
trusted source. Buyers also said they found
the BBB Accredited Business seal to carry a lot
of weight when choosing a supplier.
As the charts depict, consumers responding to
the survey found BBB more trustworthy than
other well known sources, including Angie’s
List and Yelp. Even better for you - of those
consumers who are familiar with BBB (which accounted for 73% of respondents),
82.7% were more likely to purchase products or services from a business that
displays the BBB Accredited Business seal.

2. Consumers Unload about Problems with
Local Moving Service
A moving service that operates from a virtual office space in Beachwood has recently been ground to
a halt by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. That hasn’t seemed to stop it, however, from
continuing to quote moving services.
Classic Moving Services (Classic) which does business as Matrix Movers, has been the subject of a
steady stream of complaints in recent weeks. Consumers tell BBB the company greatly increases the
price of their services, holds their goods hostage until fees are paid, does not deliver belongings on
dates promised, and damages items.
“These are some of the worst complaints we have seen about a moving service at this BBB,” said BBB
president, Sue McConnell. “The company has an ‘F’ rating with us at this time.” BBB referred this
matter to the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA). On July 6, 2015, the FMCSA
issued an “Out-of-Service” order against Classic for refusing a safety audit. Classic had 30 days
to reapply for the audit, but that time has lapsed. Classic is not allowed to operate at this time;
however, their website is still active and the 866-573-8662 line still answers.
A woman who used Classic to move from New Jersey to Texas claims the company lost many of
her items, did damage to her former and new home, and broke an antique stained glass window
that she valued at $3600. She also told BBB that Classic nearly doubled the original estimate and
would not release her belongings until she paid.
Classic uses a Beachwood address which is a “virtual office.” The company has not responded
to BBB’s request for its physical location. Classic responds to most complaints with a
standard form letter that requests documents about the move. It handles its claims through
a Florida company, MovingClaims.net. Classic’s contract contains language prohibiting
customers from contacting “...any state, city, government, insurance, and consumer group
such as the BBB, public, media organization, internet website or credit card agency..” until
after MovingClaims.net addresses their complaints.” To date, almost all complaints are
either unanswered or unresolved.
On Our Radar
BG Boards - BBB has received nine complaints about this
Strongsville based online retailer that sells cornhole boards
and accessories. Consumers report long delays in receiving
ordered items and no response to their calls and emails. BG
Boards has also not responded to BBB complaints. BBB has
alerted Postal authorities.
Five Eleven Photography & Design - Consumers report this
photographer has not provided photos, cancels sessions, doesn’t respond to calls,
emails or texts, and is unprofessional. The business specializes in family photos.
BBB has received eight complaints in the past several months. One was resolved, the
others were left unanswered by the company. We have referred these consumers to
the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.
American Asphalt Sealcoating - 16 unanswered complaints about shoddy
workmanship, failure to begin work after deposits are paid, and incomplete sealcoating
has landed this business a spot in “On Our Radar”. The business has an “F” rating. BBB
has alerted the Ohio Attorney General.

Email Extortion Campaigns Threatening
Distributed Denial of Service
The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) recently received an increasing number
of complaints from businesses reporting extortion campaigns via email. In a typical
complaint, the victim business receives an email threatening a Distributed Denial of
Service (DDoS) attack to its Website unless it pays a ransom. A DDoS can prevent
customers from connecting to your online services. Ransoms vary in price and are
usually demanded in Bitcoin.
Victims that do not pay the ransom receive a subsequent threatening email claiming
that the ransom will significantly increase if the victim fails to pay within the time
frame given.
Based on information received at the IC3, the FBI suspects multiple individuals are
involved in these extortion campaigns. The attacks are likely to expand to online
industries and other targeted sectors, especially those susceptible to suffering financial
losses if taken offline.
If you believe you have been a victim of this scam, you should reach out to your local FBI
field office, and file a complaint with the IC3 at www.IC3.gov. Please provide any relevant
information in your complaint, including the extortion e-mail with header information.
Tips to protect yourself:
• Do not open e-mail or attachments from unknown individuals.
• Do not communicate with the subject.
• If an attack occurs, utilize DDoS mitigation services.
