Bauer started as a small family publishing business in 1875 and has since grown to become a major global publisher, distributing over 300 magazines across 15 countries. It became the third largest publisher in Britain and further expanded through acquisitions, including becoming the largest UK publisher after purchasing Emap in 2008. Most recently, Bauer acquired Australia's largest printing company in 2012, increasing its value to over €2 billion. While Bauer publishes various magazines targeting women and TV listings, it would be a suitable choice for a new music magazine to launch due to currently publishing fewer music titles, allowing the new magazine a chance to stand out from their competition.
