The group analyzed the video game Battlefield 2. They created a walkthrough summarizing the game's controls, menus, levels, objectives, and tactics. Group member Al analyzed aspects of the game like its lack of diversity and unrealistic health system. He noted how the game oversimplifies war and focuses only on violence rather than tactics.

2. The Work plan Our Decision was to play Battlefield 2, We decided to play this game because it is interesting and a fun game. Our Work plan was Video Games Unit Assignments and Presentation The people in my group are Josh, Terry, Graham, Aqil, and me, we are going to reverse-engineer a video game and examine what some of the major design elements are. In this process, we are going to take detailed notes of the interface (controls), the characters (possible characters), the environment, and the mission (goals) of the game. We will demonstrate a clear understanding of how the game is played, how you win the game, as well as how the game works – what are the tricks to getting through and what knowledge and skills you need to develop. The Blog On our blog we are trying to produce a walkthrough of the game we are studying and trying to figure out how the overall plan of the game is. Outline what will be accomplished at each meeting. • Next to each meeting list the materials you will need for each lesson. • Goal: Our Goal is to try to make a walkthrough of the Battlefield 2.

3. Game Description The Game we are going to study is Battlefield 2. This game is a modern warfare game. You get to pick who you want to be in the military Axis, Allies). In the game you can also switch from person to person and the type of infantry you want to be engineer, gunner, sniper, assault, and special forces). We The basics of the game is that there is a territory war breaking out in Kazakhstan and the Chinese and Americans are going at it to fight over land and oil. You get to play as both the sides and in this game you get to see both sides of the story so it is an interesting game I expect the game to be interesting because you get to switch from person to person. This I expect will be an interesting way to play a game and I hope it will be fun. I have played this game before and I am trying to break the game down and try to analyze the game.

Walkthrough- The Controls The game controls are as followed- left analog stick- Move up/down/left/right or Hit/but with gun right analog stick- Look around, and click to use scope on gun R1- Fire gun/ use weapon R2- Hold to look at weapons and use d-pad to select weapon L1- Get up from crouch, Jump when standing L2- Crouch/Lie down X-Interact, get in vehicle Square- Switch characters/People on your team Triangle- use parachute Circle-Reload Start-Pause game/Go to in game menu

5. Walkthrough- Menu The menu is the first thing you come to the things you do are as followed- Select difficulty Make profile for saving At the main menu you select campaign and you select play campaign to begin.

6. Walkthrough 3 You start at the debriefing screen where they fill you in on all the info and all the things that are happening. What they tell you is that “Kazakhstan is a warzone and the Americans and Chinese are in a territory war for the oil and land. Now you have to go in and liberate this area to free the Kazakhstani people.”

7. Walkthrough 4- The beginning In the beginning of this level you start in the air from a drop off point going in to a city to eliminate enemy forces. When you are first touch ground your first move will be to go through a gap in the buildings where you will see a jeep pass you. First try to take out the jeep as it passes you to gain some points

8. Walkthrough 5- 2 nd step Once you go through the gap your radar will indicate you to go right and you will see a bunch of guys in your way to where you need to get. You have 2 choices 1 is to walk and kill all the guys on the way there Or 2 which is to look at the engineer at the end of the way and zoom to him If it were me id chose this one.

Walkthrough 6- Tanks When you zoom/switch to the engineer you will see 2 enemy tanks Quickly change your weapon to a rocket launcher and take out the tank but be care full not to get shot or your dead. Once your done you will get 2 of your own tanks and you will be able to switch to them and make total and utter destruction on the enemy

10. Walkthrough 7- the Long hall The next step is going down a long line of buildings till your next point This is the easiest step because all you must do is point and shoot, just clear a way for yourself. At the end of this is a tank and all you got to do is take it out and shoot the doors behind it.

11. Walkthrough 8- final step The last objective is to outlast the enemies that keep coming at you. This will be another easy step if you don’t lose the tank because all you would have to do is shoot. But if you did lose the tank you should keep you r back to a wall to keep the enemy in front of you so you can see them. If you start getting shot at I would start running and stay running, just keep yourself in motion and shooting so it will make it harder for the enemy to hit you. After you take out the enemy forces you will have beat the first level.

12. Rubric-Point of View The first Category is Point of View- I give my game a 3 outta 4 because you got to learn as you go but there are some things it does not tell you. Like as to how to use some stationary weapons on the map like the lock-on rocket launcher and such.

13. Voice Consistancy I give it a 3 outta 4 again because while your fighting it may be very hard for you to hear your caption and sometimes you get lost because you don't know where to go. But otherwise he speaks very clearly and you can understand what they say.

14. images I Give it a 3 outta 4 because it tried to show scenary which it did very well and it did create and atmosphere but it didn't do anything metaphorical or symbolism. The images in game of the ground and such is interesting its kinda rough rather than smooth. But the image as you switch from player to player is great as to when you switch it give the appearance that you are moving fast and gives you the impression that you are actually becoming the person you are playing. Also as you are watching the cutsceens with all the detail you see a definate differance from the ingame expirience its almost real.

15. Point of View awareness I give it a 4 outta 4 because it keeps the story on track and makes sence to what you are doing. They make it very clear to as what you are fighting for early on in the game. When you start the game they brief you about what you are fighting and you get the understanding right away and know what to fight.

16. Music Soundtrack I give it a 1 outta 4 because it has the same music through out the whole game and it doesn't do anything for you and it doesn't help the game. This music is pretty bad if i had to put music into it i'd add moe stuff to pump you up or get you going.

17. Economy I give it a 4 outta 4 for this because the story is good but it doesn't give you enough info to as how this war started or anything. The game in general just puts you in the middle of a war and tells you to fight. But i do give it a little leway because it kinda gives you the soldiers point of view because they don't know why we are fighting them or how it started they are just told to aim and shoot and thats why i give it4 outta 4.

18. Dramatic i give it a 3 outta 4 because your realization at the end does differ from the questions and does make you think but its not that different.

19. Engagement i give it a 3 outta 4 The game is very engaging and makes me want to keep playing. I say this because the game is very interactive and you can have fun with the game while trying to beat it also. The reason it is so interactive is because the way you can switch around to other players and get weapons but it doesn't take much thinking and is more shoot em' up rather than think before you shoot.

20. Complexity This game is not complex all you need to know in general is the controls and how to move otherwise you just shoot. The hardest thing about this game is probably when the enemies just surround you and unload on you while your trying to hide. Also the computers don't think that much like they don't seem to have a brain with some of the stuff they do more so they just look and shoot nothing else. For this i give it 2 outta 4.

21. Rules The rules in the game are pretty simple but you can find different ways to do different things or just improvise basically. Like as to when you face a tank you usually would blow it up with a rocket launcher but you could also use mines or other weapons to do it. But level wise there isn't much options to it you have to go wit what you are given and you can't complain. So i give it a 1 outta 4

22. Usability In the game you can go into it and just know how to shoot and switch and you can dominate. All you have to know is tha name ofthe game and your in the game. The only time it takes you time is with weapons on the map cause they don't let you know how to work it you have to figure it out for yourself. In the game i give it a 3 outta 4

23. Analyst- Al My Learning role is The Anylist- When I played the game i saw a couple of features which were mostly males were the roles alowd, you could get shot more than once and live let alone gain more health, and all you have to do to stop the war is blow stuff up while it usually takes more than just guns and explosives. These will be what i go over on my topic. The first topic i will go over is diversity or basically what gender or race you can play as. The people you could play as were all male which is an interesting thing because it kinda proposes the idea that men are the only people who should fightin wars. I think this shows people that men should be in wars and that they are the people not doing the killing or proposing that women cant fight. They have also given you the assumption that you can escape death in many ways like if you get shot you dont brake anything but you lose like a bar of health or so. This health system is good because it helps you live longer but if it were in real life you would be on the ground after one shot more than likely and would be bleeding. Even if you live through a shot you would get up and you would bleed out thats the differance. Im not saying its realistic because if you couldnt get shot once it would be a lame game if you bleed out but its also not realistic to the point that if you get shot youll start bleeding, but it is realistic enough that you will die. My last point is how the war is just solved with violence and there is no more aftermath after the fight. In war you see people dying and all sorts of things, its not just deserted areas with no civilians at all. In real war you see people mutilated, gunshot wounds, the dead and so on its not just you shooting its more tactical also. Like in the army they dont just send in a bunch of guys to get info, theyll send special teams, which are really good fighters to go in and infiltrate the scene without being noticed. no army just goes up and starts shooting right away. The other reason i got mad at it was because it was all a bunch of shooting and no hacking or, arguing, or anything really samrt like, its just shooting and destroying the enemy.

24. Reflections We all did well working together and learning how to work most of the stuff we had. We all worked very well together and didn’t have a problem with anyone. The best thing we did together was figuring out th problems in the game. If I could do it differently I would make it so we had more time and so we could make it work on the computer so we could all play on the computer.
