Abstract:
• Every livebody emits some infrared energy. This energy is sensed by
a PIR sensor from a good distance. This signal is then processed and
door is opened and closed based on this data. When a living being
arrives with in the sensor range, it detects the presence and sends out a
command that opens the door.

Introduction:
• Our projectPuts forward an automatic and precise door opening
system based on human movement sensing near the door. Well
opening a door in places like hotels, Shopping complexes, and offices
can be a tedious task and sometimes requires hiring a person just for
the sake of opening door whenever a person arrives near the door.
Arduino Uno:
• ArduinoUno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P
(datasheet). It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used
as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a USB connection and a reset
button.
7.
PIR Sensor:
• Apassive infrared sensor (PIR sensor) is an electronic sensor that
measures infrared (IR) light radiating from objects in its field of view.
They are most often used in PIR-based motion detectors.
8.
Servo motor:
• Servomotors or “servos”, as they are known, are electronic devices
and rotary or linear actuators that rotate and push parts of a machine
with precision. Servos are mailny used on angular or linear position
and for specific velocity, and acceleration.
9.
Jumper wires:
• Ajump wire is an electrical wire,or group of them in a cable, with a
connector or pin at each end , which is normally used to interconnect
the components of a breadboard or other prototype or test circuit,
internally or with other equipment or components, without soldering.
Block diagram
Every livingbody emits some infrared energy. In this project we have
used PIR sensor which senses the infrared rays emitted from the living
body from a good distance .
• The signal sensed is then processed and the door is opened and closed
based on this data .
• When a living being arrives with in the sensor range, it detects the
presence and sends out the signal to the Arduino Uno which is the
control system of this project.
• The Arduino process the signals received from the PIR sensor and
sends out a command to servo motor that opens the door.
Circuit diagram:
When thePIR Sensor detects any motion of a person, its Data OUT Pin
will become HIGH. As this pin is connected to the Arduino, it will
detect this HIGH Signal and understands that there is person
approaching the door.
• Arduino then immediately activates the micro servo motor to open the
door. After some time (about 2 to 5 seconds in this project), the
Arduino will once again activate the Motor Drive to close the door.

Advantages:
1. Easy tomanufacture, no specialized machinery is required.
2. Minimal no:of parts.
3. Simple to design.
4. Doors open only when activated and automatically close so to
eliminate the doors being left open.
5. They prevent air conditioning from escaping and outside air and dust
from entering.

Disadvantages:
Cleaning:
• Automatic doorsare more difficult to clean as you need to and oil internal parts like
springs and bolts to avoid them from rusting.
• Pricing:
• Automatic doors are definitely more pricey as compared to their manual
counterparts. Due to the presence of many automatic features, automatic doors can
be expensive to procure and mandates a high budget.
• Installation and Maintenance:
• The installation process of automatic doors mandates the need for a professional
technician in order for it to be accurate and efficient. They also require regular
maintenance and check-ups to guarantee proper functioning which also can be
expensive.
Conclusion:
The working ofthe Automatic Door Opener System using Arduino and
PIR Sensor is very simple. It enables you to understand the concept of
such automatic door opener systems and how they work.Well this
project proposes a system that allows for automatic door opening
solution by sensing human presence near it. Our system achieves this
functionality with the help of PIR sensor , Arduino Uno and servo
motor.
