They were Bible students who knew the English Bible and some were at home with original languages.
They were thoroughly orthodox on major doctrines and for the most part were moderate Calvinists,
intensely evangelistic, premillennial in eschatology, godly and devout, and willing to stand against
liberalism. They were creators of Bible institutes, seminaries, mission boards, journals and papers. But
they were NOT exclusively Baptist.
