6. The kalyana mandapa
The mandapa which is used for the divine marriage, is called as the Kalyana Mandapa.
This one picture depicts the setup of According to Hindu wedding rituals ,the Mandapa
is setup in open under the sky.
Traditionally,the kalyana mandapa is a porch like structure through the Gopuram(A
gopuram or gopura is a monumental entrance tower, usually ornate, at the entrance
of a Hindu temple) inside temple but with change of time and style the kalyana
mandapas are vanishing from the newly built temples and peple prefer fancy banquet
halls and resorts instead of going to a temple.
The mandapa was originally surrounded by no. of pillars adorned with intricate carving,
to regenerate that same feel, the decorator or planner have used a six pillared
structure in the lawn, the intricate flower carving is replaced by flowers itself.
To let the guests have a view of the rituals being performed in the mandapa, a four
directional seating arrangement is done. Also, to avoid any huss, circulation space
is given and is directing the pathway through the use of the carpets.
In order to achieve aesthetics and to make it more impactful by playing with the
human psychology through use of colours like, pink,red and white .
The color pink is thought to be a calming color associated with love, kindness, and
femininity blends well with the colour white which is supposed to symbolizing a new
beginning or a fresh start. White is bright and can create a sense of space or add
highlights. We often use the color white to make rooms seem larger and more
spacious.
