Count the number of cheque leaves immediately after receiving
the cheque book from the bank.
Check for the correct serial order of the cheques.
Write the cheques in handwriting using ball point pen.
Write the amount in the cheque in words and figures and do mark
with a line any space that remains after writing the words and
figures.
Alteration if any in the cheque should be authenticated with full
signature.
Do not keep signed blank cheque; preserve the cheque book
safely.
Do not give blank cheque with signature to anyone.
9. Bearer cheque : This cheque can be encashed
by anyone
Order cheque : Bearer cheque can be converted
into order cheque by striking word ‘Bearer’. This
cheque can be encashed only by the person
named in the cheque .
Crossed cheque : If the cheque is crossed by
two parallel lines and ‘A/C payee only ’ is written
between them then it is crossed cheque.
