First pillar of Islam
Ashhadu Alla Ilaha Illa Allah Wa Ashhadu
Anna Muhammad Rasul Allah
"There is no God but Allah, and
Muhammad is his messenger."
When a Muslim recites this they
accept:
• That Allah is the only God, and that
Muhammad is his prophet
• That you will obey all the
commitments of Islam in your life
5. 2. Salaat
Second pillar of Islam
Allah ordered Muslims to pray five
times a day:
1. Fajr: dawn, before sunrise
2. Zuhr: midday, after the sun passes
its highest
3 Asr: the late part of the afternoon
4 Maghrib: just after sunset
5 Isha: between sunset and midnight
Muslim prayer unites the mind, soul,
and body in worship.
6. 3. Zakat (charity)
Third pillar of Islam
Pay charity to the poor and the needy
To give 2.5% of our wealth each year to
poor.
The benefits of giving Zakat:
• To Obey Allah
• Helping a person and know that
everything comes from Allah
• And since we cannot take anything with
us when we die we should help others
• Accept that whether we are rich or poor is
Allah's choice
• So we should help those he has chosen
to make poor
• Helps us Learn self-discipline
• Helps us Free ourself from love of money
• Helps us Behave honestly
7. 4. Sawm Fasting
Fourth Pillar of Islam
Muslims fast during the
month of Ramadan
We cannot eat Food or drink during the day
There are many good reasons for this
fasting:
• To Obey Allah
• Learn self-discipline
• Becoming spiritually stronger
• Appreciating Allah's gifts to us
• Share the sufferings of the poor and
develop sympathy for them
• Realise the value of charity and generosity
• Giving thanks for the Holy Qur'an, which
was first revealed in the month of Ramadan
• Sharing fellowship with other Muslims
Ramadan ends with the festival of Eid ul-
Fitr.
8. 5. Hajj
Fifth pillar of
Islam
Pilgrimage to
Mecca
The Hajj makes Muslims feel the real
importance of life on earth, and the
afterlife
Hajj is in the month of Dhul Hijjah which
is the twelfth month of the Islamic
calendar.
It is the journey that every Muslim must
make at least once in their life.
Hajj helps the bond of Islamic
brotherhood and sisterhood by showing
that everyone is equal in the eyes of
Allah.
No one is rich or poor in the house of
Allah. Everybody is equal.
