Bamboo called "Beema" is a fast growing, high biomass plant that is thornless with thick walls and does not flower. It is recommended for large scale plantation, farms with labor shortages, and absent landlords under assured irrigation and fertilization. "Beema" bamboo absorbs 80 tonnes of carbon dioxide per acre per year and requires 2000mm of water including rainfall similar to sugarcane. Under good management practices with irrigation and fertilizer, "Beema" bamboo can yield 25-30 tonnes per acre starting in the 3rd year increasing up to 65 tonnes or more per acre from the 7th year onward for over 100 years.
