This document presents information about a group project on optical fiber communication. It discusses the group members, defines optical fiber and its key elements. It then classifies optical fibers as single mode or multi-mode, describing each type. It also discusses fiber optic losses and coupling losses. The document focuses on coupling losses between waveguides and VCSEL light sources. It describes an experimental procedure using the cut-back method to measure coupling losses and determine the optimum core size for lowest coupling loss.
This document discusses buffer sizing to reduce delay uncertainty caused by process variations. It shows that increasing buffer size reduces uncertainty from variations in both the buffer and interconnect. Variations in device parameters introduce delay uncertainty in CMOS inverters. Increasing buffer size reduces this uncertainty by increasing the current sourced by the buffer. Variations in interconnect parameters also affect delay, but buffer sizing can decrease this uncertainty as well.
The document discusses EnvirAnode, an environmentally-focused cathodic protection system. It describes EnvirAnode as using robust anodes embedded in a conductive backfill material that forms a molecularly bonded tertiary system, shifting the ionic reaction boundary and reducing carbon consumption. This results in significantly longer anode life. EnvirAnode also efficiently manages gas byproducts, improving efficiency over traditional systems and allowing the exclusion of vent pipes. Overall, EnvirAnode provides more reliable protection over a longer lifespan at lower total cost of ownership compared to other cathodic protection solutions.
NOVEL SLEEP TRANSISTOR TECHNIQUES FOR LOW LEAKAGE POWER PERIPHERAL CIRCUITSVLSICS Design
Static power consumption is a major concern in nanometre technologies. Along with technology scaling down and higher operating speeds of CMOS VLSI circuits, the leakage power is getting enhanced. As process geometries are becoming smaller, device density increases and threshold voltage as well as oxide thickness decrease to keep pace with performance. Two novel circuit techniques for leakage current reduction in inverters with and without state retention property are presented in this work. The power dissipation during inactive (standby) mode of operation can be significantly reduced compared to traditional power gating methods by these circuit techniques. The proposed circuit techniques are applied to inverters and the results are compared with earlier inverter leakage minimization techniques. Inverter
buffer chains are designed using new state retention low leakage technique and found to be dissipating lower power with state retention. All low leakage inverters are designed and simulated in cadence design environment using 90 nm technology files. The leakage power during sleep mode is found to be better by X 63 times for novel method. The total power dissipation has also reduced by a factor of X 3.5, compared to earlier sleepy keeper technique. The state retention feature is also good compared to earlier leakage power reduction methodologies.

An efficient design of 45-nm CMOS low-noise charge sensitive amplifier for wi...IJECEIAES
Amplifiers are widely used in signal receiving circuits, such as antennas, medical imaging, wireless devices and many other applications. However, one of the most challenging problems when building an amplifier circuit is the noise, since it affects the quality of the intended received signal in most wireless applications. Therefore, a preamplifier is usually placed close to the main sensor to reduce the effects of interferences and to amplify the received signal without degrading the signal-to-noise ratio. Although different designs have been optimized and tested in the literature, all of them are using larger than 100 nm technologies which have led to a modest performance in terms of equivalent noise charge (ENC), gain, power consumption, and response time. In contrast, we consider in this paper a new amplifier design technology trend and move towards sub 100 nm to enhance its performance. In this work, we use a pre-well-known design of a preamplifier circuit and rebuild it using 45 nm CMOS technology, which is made for the first time in such circuits. Performance evaluation shows that our proposed scaling technology, compared with other scaling technology, extremely reduces ENC of the circuit by more than 95%. The noise spectral density and time resolution are also reduced by 25% and 95% respectively. In addition, power consumption is decreased due to the reduced channel length by 90%. As a result, all of those enhancements make our proposed circuit more suitable for medical and wireless devices.
This document summarizes research into designing a piezoelectric-actuated mirror mount with a servo bandwidth greater than 380kHz. Four different mount designs were tested: a cylindrical control mount and three designs intended to dampen mechanical resonances - a solid center of mass design, a design with a 0.125" tungsten-carbide core, and a design with a 0.25" tungsten-carbide core. Testing showed the thickness of the adhesive layer and mount material most affected resonance frequency. The optimal design was found to be a 0.25" tungsten-carbide filled brass mount, achieving a 392kHz servo bandwidth.
This document summarizes a research paper on back-contacted perovskite solar cells with quasi-interdigitated electrodes (QIDEs). Key findings include:

2) Photocurrent collection was found to be inhomogeneous and most efficient near the interface between charge selective layers, suggesting smaller QIDE gaps could improve collection.
3) The maximum power conversion efficiency achieved was over 6.0%.

Design of Memory Cell for Low Power ApplicationsIJERA Editor
Aggressive CMOS scaling results in lower threshold voltage and thin oxide thickness for transistors manufactured in nano regime. As a result, reducing the sub-threshold and tunneling gate leakage currents has become crucial in the design of ICs. This paper presents a new method to reduce the total leakage power dissipation of static random access memories (SRAMs) while maintaining their performance.
This document summarizes research on creating highly sensitive and flexible strain gauges using carbon nanotube doped silver nano-ink printed on a flexible polyimide substrate with surrounding layers of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomer. Testing showed that surrounding the strain gauge circuit with PDMS dramatically increased its sensitivity, with average gauge factors of 406.2 under tension and -232.6 under compression. Higher concentrations of carbon nanotubes in the silver nano-ink also improved sensitivity. The flexible and scalable manufacturing process has potential for applications requiring large-scale strain sensing like structural health monitoring.

integrated into a welding system ensures the requirements are implemented in se-
