The Baili DuJuan Scenic Area is located in Bijie City, Guizhou Province. It is a national AAAAA level scenic spot known for its Midi River Waterfall and Baili Du Fu Lake. The scenic area contains forests, prairies, rivers, and historical sites and is home to diverse plant and animal life. It first became a provincial scenic spot in 1987 and was upgraded to a national forest park in 1993 and AAAAA level in 2013.

Bijie City Baili Dufu Scenic Area is located in the northwest of
Guizhou Province and in the middle of Bijie City. It is affiliated to the
Baili Dufu Management District of Bijie City. It is a national AAAAA
level scenic spot and the top ten tourist scenic spots in Guizhou
Province.
The main tourist attractions of Baili Dufu Scenic Spot in Bijie City
include Dufu Forest Belt, Baili Du Fu Prairie, Midi River, Azalea King,
Millennium Kiss, and Huangjiaba Blocking War Site. It is the largest
native azalea forest that China has identified so far, and is known as
the “Cuckoo Kingdom” and “World Natural Garden”.
Historical evolution
In April 1987, the Guizhou Provincial People’s Government listed Baili
Du Fu as a provincial-level scenic spot.
In May 1993, the former State Forestry Department approved the
establishment of the Baili Dufu National Forest Park, and Baili Du Fu
was listed as one of the “Top Ten Scenic Spots” in Guizhou Province.
In 2001, the Bijie Dufu National Forest Park Management Office was
established in Bijie Prefecture, responsible for the management,
construction, development and utilization of the Baili Dufu National
Forest Park.
In September 2007, the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and the
Provincial Government approved the establishment of the Guizhou
Baili Dufu Scenic Area Management Committee, which is a county-
level institution sent by the Bijie District Committee and the
Administrative Office. It administers 54 villages (residential)

Geographical environment
Location horizon
Bijie City, Bijie City, is located in Bijie City, Guizhou Province. The
geographical coordinates are between 105°50′16′′ to 106°04′57′′ east
longitude and 27°10′07′′ to 27°17′55′′ north latitude. It is located in
Guizhou Province. The junction of Dafang County and Luxi County in
Bijie City is 150 kilometers away from Guiyang, the provincial capital.

4. Topography
The Baili Dufu Scenic Area in Bijie City is located in the slope of the
transition from the Western Yunnan Plateau to the Qiongshan Hill. It
is a type of plateau and hilly landform. The surface of the territory
still maintains a relatively primitive stripping state. The hills are
undulating and stretch into pieces, and the relative height difference
of the mountains is about 500 meters. The bedrock in the territory is
mainly carbonate rock, and its distribution area accounts for about
70%. It is mainly distributed with the Lower Permian-bearing
limestone and Cambrian Middle-upper Dolomite. The main types of
soil are: gravel heavy soil thick layer strength graying yellow soil,
less gravel heavy soil, gravel heavy soil thick layer ordinary yellow
soil. The pH of the soil surface is 4.5 to 6.5, and the pH of the lower
layer is about 5.0.
Climate characteristics
The Baili Dufu Scenic Area in Bijie City is located at low latitude and
high altitude, and the climate type belongs to the warm and humid
monsoon climate in the mid-subtropical zone. The annual average
temperature is 11.8 ° C, the average temperature of the coldest month
(January) is 1.6 ° C, the average temperature of the hottest month
(July) is 20.7 ° C, the extreme maximum temperature is 31.5 ° C, and
the extreme minimum temperature is -9.3 ° C. After 33.1 days of rain,
the freezing time is longer. The annual precipitation is 1180.8 mm, of
which 2/3 is concentrated in the summer, the rainy season is from
May to October, and the dry season is from November to April. The

sunny days. The annual sunshine hours are only 1335.5 hours. The
annual average relative humidity is 84%. The average relative
humidity in April is the smallest, only 79%. The average relative
humidity in December is the largest, reaching 89%, showing winter
wet and dry. The climate is relatively cool and suitable for the growth
of rhododendrons.
Resource situation
Biological resources
The Baili Dufu Scenic Area in Bijie City is not only rich in
rhododendron resources, but also a virgin forest tourism scenic spot
with many animals and plants. As of 2014, there are 104 species of
birds and 31 species of mammals. Among them, the national first-
class protected animals include clouded leopard and Lin Biao, and the
second-level protected animals include pangolin, leopard cat, small
civet cat, golden pheasant, white-bellied golden pheasant and white-
crowned long-tailed pheasant. National first-grade protected plants
include ginkgo and yew. The secondary protected plants are camphor,
magnolia, and hi-tree. There are 131 species of fungi. Ancient and
famous trees include Millennium Giant Sang, Azalea King, Royal
Ginkgo and Shajiang Ancient Hedgehog.

6. Mineral resources
As of 2011, the main minerals in the Baili Dufu Scenic Area in Bijie
City include anthracite, pyrite, marble and kaolin. In particular, the
anthracite coal is excellent in quality, reserves and distribution, and
the initial exploration reserves are 450 million tons. The mining
areas are mainly distributed in Renhe Township (6 pairs), Jinpo
Township (10 pairs), Pudi Township (20 pairs) and Dashui Township
(1 pair).

7. Main Attractions
Du Fulin belt
The Baili Rhododendron belt is distributed in a ring shape, extending
over 50 kilometers and a width of 1 to 5 kilometers, with a total area
of 125.8 square kilometers. All of the six subgenus of azaleas are
grown. It is open every year from March to May.
Baili Rhododendron
The total area of the Baili Rhododendron is nearly 60,000 mu, which
is distributed in a ring and ladder shape. The plants are mostly dwarf
rhododendrons and native shrubs. Due to the high altitude climate
and wind, the vegetation grows strangely and is a natural bonsai
garden.

8. Midi River
The Midi River is a tributary of the Wujiang River system. The river
flows from the mountains into the deep valley. Among them, the
Sandie Waterfall on the 60-meter section has a drop of 40 meters,
forming a high-stone dam, a stone pig trough, a natural bridge, and a
flower bed rock. Karst wonders.
Rhododendron
Du Fuhua Wang is located in Dufu Village, Renhe Township. It has a
tree age of 260 years, a breast diameter of 70.7cm, a crown width of
68m2 and flowering nearly 10,000. A few thick roots are bare, the
branches are distorted and vigorous, and the form is magnificent. Du
Fu’s “Kao” was named after it.

9. Millennium kiss
The millennial kiss consists of two mountain rocks, the left rock is tall
and the right rock is short, and the deep rocks under the two rocks
form the name because of the lovers who kiss each other.
Huangjiaba Blocking War Site
In February 1936, the Red 2nd and 6th Army regiments fought in
northwestern Yunnan, forced the Dianchi River, Kexixi, won the
Dading (now Dafang County), Bijie, and established a revolutionary
regime to carry out the “Red Expansion” campaign. The Kuomintang
invaded the enemy with a number of times of enemies, in an attempt
to annihilate the Red Second and Sixth Army. In February of that
year, the Red Army blocked the wolf enemies in the Huangjiaba area.
One of the enemy leaders, three battalion commanders, and more
than 100 officers and men, seized more than 60 light machine guns
and more than 60 long and short guns. This is the last glimpse of the
Second Army and the Sixth Army of the Chinese Workers and
Peasants’ Red Army before the North against Japan. Zhou Qiyuan, a

began a long march with the Red Army. Therefore, Huangjiaba still
retains the site of the heroic battle of the Red Army.
