Measurement Engineer, UL India Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru (2015 – Present)
I have hands on experience in Wind Turbine Measurement (mainly Power Performance
Measurements). The responsibilities I take in the execution of Wind Turbine Power
Performance Project includes
• Understanding the customer request, basically the requirement of Purchase agreement
signed between the manufacturer and the Wind farm owner.
• Working with sales team for estimating the project cost after assessing the engineering
challenges involved.
• Coordinating with customer in freezing the meteorological mast position satisfying the
requirements of IEC and the purchase agreement.
• Selection of Sensors and validation of meteorological mast for quality measurement.
• Supporting customer in the selection of calibration lab to ensure less uncertainty in the
measurement.
• Inspection of Test site during the installation of measurement system to ensure the safe
installation of each sensor.
• Communicating with customer to get the required inputs and update about progress of
the project.
• Periodic data storage and analysis.
• Preparing short report on the observation of data check on a weekly/monthly basis and
discussing with customer if any symptoms of sensor malfunction/damage observed.
• Evaluation of the contractual warranty condition in order to assess the Performance of
the turbine against the warranted level defined in the purchase agreement.
• Finding possible root causes for Turbine under performance and suggest customer for
correction to improve the performance.
• Preparation of Final Report. It is a detailed report capturing each event from the
beginning of project, Evaluations, Results and informative plots.
• Addressing to customer queries if any.
• Designing new tools and upgrading existing tools for better performance, interactive
results maintaining the accuracy. Automating word documents for reducing the report
preparation time and maintain consistency in the report.
Based on the requirement I do support the team in performing other Wind Turbine Measurements
like Tower Frequency Measurement, Gearbox vibration measurement, LVRT measurement, etc.
• Understanding the customer request, the objective of test.
• Working closely with the German counterpart for allocating man power and measurement
system required for the test.
• Safe installation of measurement system following the guidelines and ensuring
uninterrupted data transmission.
• Addressing to customer queries in support of the expert team.
Measurement Engineer, Enercon India Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru (2012 – 2015)
I was trained to do Wind Turbine Power Performance Measurement as per IEC. The
responsibilities I was taking care of includes
• Working with the sales team in preparing the Purchase agreements for customers
• Identifying Turbine Locations for Power Performance Test from the customer owned
Wind Farm.
• Working closely with the Land Team to procure the land for Meteorological mast on the
customer selected location.
• Making corporate reports and client reports. Presentations if required.
• Leading multiple teams for Measurement System Installation. Troubleshooting faulty
system if any.
• Performing site visits to understand the site specific challenges.
• Sharing Wind Data collected from different sites with customer and consultants.
• Addressing the queries raised by customer and consultant.
• Regular Analysis of wind Data and sharing the results with customer
• Final Report preparation: This report gives light mainly on the methodology adapted for
the measurement and measurement Results.
• Designing new tools and upgrading the existing tools to improve the efficiency
maintaining the accuracy.
Wind Resource Assessment
Based on the requirement I was supporting Wind Resource Assessment team on various task
which includes
• Wind data monitoring, data conversion, Data Cleaning.
• Wind data validation check: Correlation check (self-correlation & cross correlation) of
anemometers, Tower Shading effect on sensor readings, Boom mountings, etc.
• Wind Analysis: Finding data coverage for each sensor, Splicing of data, Finding Speed
Ups (SUP) in anemometer readings, finding offset in Wind direction sensors, etc.
• Deriving Frequency distributions from the time series data.
• Roughness calculation: Marks Buildings, dense trees, villages, coconut farms, cities,
ponds, lakes, etc coming in the selected area and assigns different roughness values.
• Creating Wind Resource Grid: Using WAsP for this.
• Calculating Wakes in Windfarmer.
• Long Term Energy Calculation: Using WindFarmer for long term energy calculation of
the wind farm.
• Uncertainty calculation for the estimated energy.
• Loss calculation: loss due to transmission, array loss, machine availability, grid
availability, etc.
• Making corporate reports which helps in making decisions about the Wind Farm.
• Tool Design: Designs tools in excel which does the calculation faster and accurate.
• Good understanding of IEC 61400-12-1 and MEASNET which generally referred for the
Wind Turbine Power Performance Measurement. Also have good understanding on
purchase agreement followed by the leading organizations.
• Can work at Heights, both at Mast and Wind Turbine.
• Good hands on experience in Handling GPS, Compass, Range Finder, etc.
• Can lead or work in a team. Lead many teams during Project Execution.
• Good hands on experience in Project Management and building/maintaining healthy
relationship with customer.
• Handling tough customers and their queries in a smoother way.
• Willing to learn new things. Adding newness to the process with time.
• Designed many tools using Excel functions and VBA which were highly appreciated
with in the team and adopted globally.
• Designed database for the department which is helping the team for better project
management and access to data.

• Completed my +2(Science) at Om Herambalaya Residential College (HRC), Berhampur
in 2008 Under “Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha” in First class
having 69.5% of marks.
