This document provides encouragement to pursue one's passions and empower one's personal growth by seeing beyond current borders or limitations. It suggests taking action to step into success by empowering one's persona and pursuing what inspires passion.
Stacy Marks, an English major at Spelman College, created a poster for her advertising class that urges students to "pursue your passion" and "step into your success" rather than conforming to stereotypical images of womanhood. The poster aims to empower students to define womanhood for themselves instead of following expectations of their mothers or grandmothers. It prompts viewers to question where their ideas of womanhood come from and if this notion is different for each generation. Stacy will present the poster on April 24th and hopes it creates discussion around embracing one's own sense of self and definition of womanhood.
The event was an evening gala held to raise money for a local charity. Guests enjoyed a three course meal followed by dancing and live music well into the night. The fundraiser was a success in gathering donations that will help support the charity's efforts in the community.
