The musk duck inhabits dense swamps, large lakes, tidal inlets, and bays. It mainly eats small aquatic animals like insects, snails, crayfish, and frogs, but also consumes some aquatic plant seeds. Over the course of 7 weeks, a baby musk duck grows from a small hatchling to nearly the size of its mother as it learns to swim and explores its habitat.
