BA and B.Com. programs at Gyan Vihar University aim to provide career-oriented education. The BA (Honors in Economics) program prepares students for careers in economics, business, banking, research, and civil services. Gyan Vihar University launched innovative BA and B.Com. programs that enable students to have better careers after graduation. BA (Honors in Economics) is a very useful programme to prepare students for a career in economics,
business and related sectors. This course enables students to acquire skills and competencies that can
take them to be successful economists, analysts, bankers, researchers or scholars. BA programme can
also help students in preparing for civil services or other similar examinations.
Gyan Vihar University is known for innovations. It has launched BA and B.Com. Programmes, which are
career oriented and enable students to a better career after graduation. There is free coaching of Civil
Services with BA programme. Similarly there is preparation for a career of Corporate Secretary or that of
Management Accountant with B.Com.
Suresh Gyan Vihar University, which has been known for its engineering programmes till date, tried to
B.A. and B.Com. in the following manner : -
a. An accounting and statistics lab was set up where students could get hands on experience of working
on accounting and statistical softwares
b. A survey was carried out to find the skills that the industry was looking for among the commerce
graduates and economics graduates
c. a language lab was set up, where students were groomed in soft skills and communication skills
d. Faculty members who were earlier training students of MBA and corporate executives, were asked to
prepare curriculum and detailed course plan for B.Com. programme.
e. Interactions were made with institutions like CIMA to get the latest trends, latest courses and latest
curriculum
f. Survey of existing BA programmes was carried out
g. Discussions with eminent experts, industry leaders and academicians was carried out

i. Flexibility to do CS of ICSI or CMA of CIMA (the student gets an opportunity to do one additional
professional course along with regular B.Com (Hons). )
EXPERIENCES OF THE FIRST BATCH OF B.COM (Corporate Secretaryship)
Students from Suresh Gyan Vihar University have had a great experience of working with
Chartered Accountants and business professionals. Although the students of the first batch have
gone for projects for the first time, they have experienced a great response from the industry.
They have found that mentors from the corporate world give them the required skills and
competencies.
The companies have found that B.Com. students are very useful to them as summer interns and
contribute a great deal in their accounting and finance systems. The University is getting positive
