This is a Quarterly Business Review Template to be used by Customer Success Management organizations.
One of the most important activities your Customer Success Managers (CSMs) will perform is the Quarterly Business Review (QBR).
QBRs are sometimes known by different names – Business Reviews or Executive Business Reviews – but no matter what they’re called, they’re incredibly important and the agenda and flow are largely going to fall on the CSM, so it’s critical to help them prepare for, and perform QBRs, the right way.
The most successful Enterprise SaaS companies know that growing revenue only through new customer acquisition is the less efficient way to scale. Rather, they understand that growing revenue within your existing customer base - through up-sells, cross-sells, and expanded use - is the most profitable way to scale.
In fact, Enterprise SaaS companies that grow revenue - and company valuation - by expanding revenue within their existing customer base also know the key to making this work is to focus on - and operationalize - Customer Success.
Customer Success Management is all about pro-actively making sure your customers get value from their relationship with you. You need to do this to reduce your risk of churn and maximize your profits.
But how will you do it? How do you make sure your CSM efforts are successful? And how do you do it in a way that is cost effective?
Forming alliances and coalitions with other groups can bolster and strengthen your campaigns in a number of ways. Change is the only constant. – Heraclictus, Greek Philosopher
Change is the only constant in the work environment
Whether you are shifting office to another location, adopting a new practice or process, implementing an IT system, or re-engineering the business processes for an organization, change happens to everyone all the time.
However, many change initiatives have been short-lived as a result of the failure to manage and sustain the change.
For change to be successful and enduring, do take note of the key factors impacting change below:
1. Commitment from the top
To manage a change initiative, e.g. Lean transformation, there has to be constant commitment from the top management.
Conduct regular management reviews of the change implementation progress versus the plan to ensure that the roadmap and scope of change is well-defined, timelines or key milestones are adhered to, and resources such as people, time and money are put in place where they are needed.
2. Future state vision
Define and rally around a compelling vision for the future state. What are the potential threats? How urgent is the change? What are the risks if the organization does not change? How will you know when we get there?
Present the facts and findings such as flat earnings, rising costs, decreasing market share, and other relevant key indicators where necessary to create awareness and convince employees to buy-in to the change initiative.
Identify the key resistance issues and stakeholders who are impacted by the change and address them. Be prepared to deal with emotional and political issues.
Create a compelling vision and an urgency for change so as to move people out from their comfort zones to a change in behavior and the way they value-add to the business and customers.

Pro Bono O.R. - Simplifying selection and improving allocation for CharityworksThe OR Society
Charityworks runs a one-year graduate development programme in the third sector.
The Problem
Charityworks wanted to learn how they could streamline their selection and matching processes to make them more efficient and effective as they scaled the programme up.
The Approach
Two Pro Bono O.R. volunteers analysed the contribution of selection components by analysing how the previous years’ results would have changed had they been omitted singly or in combination.
They used data on a selection of best- and worst-performing candidates to assess the predictive power of the different assessment activities
The volunteers recognised the matching candidates to posts as an example of the Assignment Problem and after reviewing the literature decided to approach it using the Hungarian Methgod.
They developed an Excel-based prototype using VBA to produce initial allocations.
The Solution
The volunteers analysed the components of the selection process to show which ones were contributing to whether candidates passed the selection
They also showed which ones were better predictors of performance in post
They developed a prototype spreadsheet-based model to allocate candidates to posts
The Benefits
Charityworks decided to dispense with their second stage assessment centre
Charityworks were able to make more data-driven decisions about the remaining assessment activities
The volunteers learnt about a classic O.R. problem in a different setting and did some fairly intensive coding
Charityworks are planning to take on a MSc student to carry the work on, so spreading awareness of O.R.
Charityworks commented: 'Dedicated volunteers committed to the project added great value for data/insight-driven decisions'

Bloodwise’s wealth of transactional data presented an opportunity to improve their knowledge about their supporters; they were to keen to understand how many different groups of supporters they had and what makes these groups different from each other.
Since the transactional data contained a mix of categorical and continuous variables a two stage approach was used to identify different segments of supporters.
Making a difference with Operational ResearchThe OR Society
An interactive workshop run by Felicity McLeister, Charlene Timewell and Ian Seath, from the professional organisation and registered charity, The Operational Research Society.
Operational Research (O.R.) uses scientific methods to improve an organisation’s effectiveness. It can address a wide range of organisational improvements – for example strategy, systems, processes, operations, decision-making etc. By using a mix of ‘soft’ techniques to understand the social and organisational context, and mathematical modelling to analyse complex situations, O.R. can help to make more effective decisions and build more productive systems based on: more complete data, consideration of all available options, careful predictions of outcomes and estimates of risk and the latest decision tools and techniques.
The workshop will includes:
· An introduction to O.R. and The OR Society.
· Career pathways into O.R. and how to gain experience, including getting involved with the O.R. in Schools initiative.
· An introduction to the Pro Bono O.R. scheme including some example case studies.
· A practical session based on a project Pro Bono O.R. carried out with RSPCA.

PIP (Pursuing Independent Paths) is a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities to achieve their potential.
PiP had begun to collect lots data on the effectiveness of training & development interventions, however they did not have an easy way to aggregate and analyse the data to understand trends and overall effectiveness.
This was necessary to provide assurance internally, for external funding bodies and to provide feedback to students.
Helping the 3rd Sector be more efficient and effectiveThe OR Society
Pro Bono O.R. provides volunteer analysts to third sector organisations in the UK to help leaders make more effective decisions and build more productive systems
Wondering what Pro Bono O.R. is? Would you like to use your skills to hep third sector organisations? Are you are third sector organisation that could benefit from Pro Bono support?
The OR Society’s Third Sector initiative has two main components: a Special Interest Group, and a Pro Bono scheme, matching O.R. volunteers with third sector organisations needing their input. But is there really any difference between doing OR in the third sector and doing it with a government or private sector organisation? Is “it’s for charity” really a good enough reason to work for free? This talk explores these challenges, taking charities as an example of third sector organisations.
The event is open to all and with a free buffet of sandwiches available afterwards.

Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.
Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.

Enhanced Enterprise Intelligence with your personal AI Data Copilot.pdfGetInData
Recently we have observed the rise of open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) that are community-driven or developed by the AI market leaders, such as Meta (Llama3), Databricks (DBRX) and Snowflake (Arctic). On the other hand, there is a growth in interest in specialized, carefully fine-tuned yet relatively small models that can efficiently assist programmers in day-to-day tasks. Finally, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures have gained a lot of traction as the preferred approach for LLMs context and prompt augmentation for building conversational SQL data copilots, code copilots and chatbots.
In this presentation, we will show how we built upon these three concepts a robust Data Copilot that can help to democratize access to company data assets and boost performance of everyone working with data platforms.
Why do we need yet another (open-source ) Copilot?
How can we build one?

Adjusting OpenMP PageRank : SHORT REPORT / NOTESSubhajit Sahu
For massive graphs that fit in RAM, but not in GPU memory, it is possible to take
advantage of a shared memory system with multiple CPUs, each with multiple cores, to
accelerate pagerank computation. If the NUMA architecture of the system is properly taken
into account with good vertex partitioning, the speedup can be significant. To take steps in
this direction, experiments are conducted to implement pagerank in OpenMP using two
different approaches, uniform and hybrid. The uniform approach runs all primitives required
for pagerank in OpenMP mode (with multiple threads). On the other hand, the hybrid
approach runs certain primitives in sequential mode (i.e., sumAt, multiply).

Association of Young people with ME (AYME): strategic review by Pro Bono O.R.
1. Facilitating the revision of AYME’s strategy
The client:
AYME is a charity which supports young people with Myalgic
Encephalopathy (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)
The client’s problem:
AYME needed to revise its 3-5 year strategy in the light of
changing circumstances and several new trustees. An external
facilitator for a half day strategic planning workshop was required.
The solution:
• Feedback was obtained from trustees and managers about
what the key areas for improvement are and ideas for making
these improvements.
• A list of actions prioritised by trustees and CEO, together with
a causal map identifying key priorities, was used as the basis
for the revised strategic plan.
The approach:
Sue Merchant worked with AYME’s Chair and Vice Chair of trustees to agree an
approach for the workshop. A questionnaire was then distributed to an agreed list of
trustees and managers to establish their views on what services (client facing and
internal) most needed improvement. The suggested actions obtained from the
questionnaire, sorted into key improvement areas, provided the basis for the workshop.
Using a set of simple symbols trustees quickly sorted ideas for action into quick wins,
things requiring more thought, things which were currently unaffordable, and things
which were impractical. They then prioritised the actions from the first three of these
lists. The agreed priorities were incorporated in a draft strategy paper prepared by the
client and taken forward to a trustees meeting for agreement. Following the trustees
meeting Sue advised the client on how to turn the strategy into a practical action plan,
showing responsibilities and timescales for completion.
The benefits:
• Trustees gained a good up to date understanding of the needs of AYME and its clients
and of the enthusiasm of its employees and volunteers
• Trustees gained a shared understanding of the most important priorities of the charity
and will be implementing the revised strategy to the benefit of clients, volunteers and
staff.
• The volunteer gained additional experience in using these techniques and was able to
share these at The OR Society conference.
Thank you for a very helpful and enlightening session
which was exactly the kind of help we needed to help
us focus on the future.
