The document defines several AWS services:
EBS provides block level storage volumes for EC2 instances. Auto Scaling automatically launches or terminates instances based on user-defined policies. RDS makes it easier to set up, operate and scale a relational database in the cloud. Glacier is a low-cost archival storage service optimized for infrequent data retrievals. EC2 provides on-demand cloud computing resources that users pay for only when actively using. Console is a graphical interface to manage cloud resources. Elastic IP addresses are static IP addresses that can be remapped to different instances for high availability.
Introduction to Amazon CloudFront and AWS Lambda@Edge - CTD201 - re:Invent 2017Amazon Web Services
End users expect to be able to view static, dynamic, and streaming content anytime, anywhere, and on any device. Amazon CloudFront is a web service that accelerates delivery of your websites, APIs, video content, or other web assets to end users around the globe with low latency, high data transfer speeds, and no commitments. In this session, learn what a content delivery network (CDN) such as Amazon CloudFront is and how it works, the benefits it provides, common challenges and needs, performance, recently released features and examples of how customers are using CloudFront. You will also learn about recustomizing content delivery through AWS Lambda@Edge - a serverless compute service that lets you execute functions to customize the content delivered through CloudFront.
Learn about the new AWS Database Migration Service, which helps you migrate databases with minimal downtime from on-premises and Amazon EC2 environments to Amazon RDS, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Aurora and EC2 databases. We discuss homogeneous (e.g. Oracle-to-Oracle, PostgreSQL-to-PostgreSQL, etc.) and heterogeneous (e.g. Oracle to Aurora, SQL Server to MariaDB) database migrations. We also talk about the new AWS Schema Conversion Tool that saves you development time when migrating your Oracle and SQL Server database schemas, including PL/SQL and T-SQL procedural code, to their MySQL, MariaDB and Aurora equivalents.
As you begin to move out of your data center and develop a cloud-first strategy, you'll need support for large-scale migrations to AWS. In this session, CSC shares details about the journey to AWS by some of our largest enterprise customers. We provide best practices for planning your large-scale migrations and focus on business processes in addition to technology. We show how CSC used this approach to migrate to AWS as part of our separation last year into two publicly traded companies: CSC and CSRA. In less than six months, CSC took our 56-year-old company and broke it into two companies, one of which was brand new and without any infrastructure or enterprise applications. We explain how we leveraged the AWS Partner ecosystem to achieve this incredible IT challenge. Session sponsored by CSC.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) began offering IT infrastructure services to businesses in the form of web services -- now commonly known as cloud computing. One of the key benefits of cloud computing is the opportunity to replace up-front capital infrastructure expenses with low variable costs that scale with your business. With the Cloud, businesses no longer need to plan for and procure servers and other IT infrastructure weeks or months in advance. Instead, they can instantly spin up hundreds or thousands of servers in minutes and deliver results faster.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
