Opportunities that the Cloud Brings for Carriers @ Carriers World 2014Ian Massingham
In this presentation from Total Telecom's Carriers World Conference in 2014 I discussed the opportunities that cloud computing presents for Telecommunications Carriers.
AWS Summit London 2014 - JUST EAT - High Availability and Rapid Changedaniel-richardson
Nearly 1,000 takeaways ordered a minute from hungry consumers, with near real time confirmation from restaurants and delivery of their food just 45 minutes later is a hard technical challenge.
AWS allows the many small engineering teams at JUST EAT to take responsibility to meet that challenge, as they build and operate a platform that delivers a takeaway experience for consumers to love.
Learn how we migrated our e-commerce platform to AWS and organise both our platform and teams around the the twin goals of rapid change and high availability. During the session we break things live in production, and watch how the JUST EAT platform is designed around AWS to recover quickly and automatically.

Day 1 - Introduction to Cloud Computing with Amazon Web ServicesAmazon Web Services
Whether you are running applications that share photos or support critical operations of your business, you need rapid access to flexible and low cost IT resources. The term "cloud computing" refers to the on-demand delivery of IT resources via the Internet with pay-as-you-go pricing. Whether you are a startup who wants to accelerate growth without a big upfront investment in cash or time for technology or an Enterprise looking for IT innovation, agility and resiliency while reducing costs, the AWS Cloud provides a complete set of infrastructure services at zero upfront costs which are available with a few clicks and within minutes. Join this webinar to learn more about the benefits of Cloud Computing.
Reasons to attend:
- Learn the concepts of utility computing and elasticity and why these are important to a cost-effective, scalable and reliable IT architecture.
- Hear about the AWS service portfolio and the global footprint on which it is delivered and the value proposition of the AWS Cloud.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides on-demand computing resources and services in the cloud, with pay-as-you-go pricing. This session provides an overview and describes how using AWS resources instead of your own is like purchasing electricity from a power company instead of running your own generator. Using AWS resources provides many of the same benefits as a public utility: Capacity exactly matches your need, you pay only for what you use, economies of scale result in lower costs, and the service is provided by a vendor experienced in running large-scale networks. A high-level overview of AWS infrastructure (such as AWS Regions and Availability Zones) and AWS services is provided as part of this session.

Your Basic Building Blocks - AWS Compute - AWS Summit Tel Aviv 2017Amazon Web Services
AWS offers multiple compute products allowing you to deploy, run, and scale your applications as virtual servers, containers, or code. This session will cover the main service starting with Amazon EC2 - Resizable cloud-based compute capacity, Amazon Lightsail - The easiest way to launch and manage a virtual private server, Amazon EC2 Container Service (ECS) - highly scalable, high performance container management service that supports Docker containers and AWS Lambda which allows you to run code without provisioning or managing servers.
A new generation of sophisticated geospatial mobile apps are being developed, which are serverless and can scale to virtually unlimited users without any infrastructure or servers to manage. This session will take a practical approach to developing lean and cost-effective real-world location-based mobile apps through live demonstrations and code walkthroughs. It will showcase how cloud services can be used to authenticate users, store and synchronize data, understand behavior, react upon location and state changes, test apps and send notifications to nearby app users.
Amazon Web Services provides a way to acquire and use infrastructure on-demand, so that you pay only for what you consume. This session is an introduction to best practices how you can take advantage of options like Reserved Instances, Scheduled Instances, Spot Instances and Spot Blocks to continuously optimize your cost of running your infrastructure services even further.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
