The #NoEstimates Movement - Ryan RipleyRyan Ripley
The #NoEstimates Movement explore the question of whether or not we need traditional estimates to make decisions about software development projects. By working in an agile way can we break down our work, inspect and adapt frequently, and deliver value to our customers. Your User Stories Are Too Big: Yes, They Are!TechWell
When a user story is too big, it is harder to understand, estimate, and implement successfully. Some teams break the “business story” into “technical stories” but this generally doesn’t help because most or all of the technical stories need to be completed before there is anything meaningful for the stakeholders. There is a better way. Chris Sims teaches four simple yet powerful techniques for breaking big stories into smaller stories that are meaningful to stakeholders and deliver incremental business value. For each of the four techniques, Chris models the technique and then gives delegates time to work in small groups to write and split stories. Chris concludes with a debriefing in which he answers questions and explores when each technique is most appropriate. In his years of agile coaching, Chris has never found a real-world story that could not be split using at least one of these techniques.

Estimation is difficult. It involved estimating the work, all of the things that stop us from doing our work, and the unforeseen. Instead, let's focus on the work at hand and reduce the complexity of software estimation.

Content Strategy for Slow Experiences at Generate NYC 2018Margot Bloomstein
Online experiences can be fast, efficient, easy, orderly—and sometimes, that's all wrong! Users click to confirm too soon, confuse important details, or miss key features in product descriptions. Efficient isn't always effective. Not all experiences need to be fast to be functional. In fact, some of the most memorable and profitable engagements are slow and messy... and that’s just right.
By designing for pace, we can intentionally help users focus on details and gain confidence in their choices. We can also encourage their sense of discovery and help them build stronger memories. Not all experiences need to be slower, but content strategy can help identify and support these outliers of user experience. Look to REI, Target, Fidelity, Patagonia, Disney, and others for lessons you can apply to aid learning, retention, and user satisfaction. Help your audience soak up the journey or just engage with more certainty, all by design.
Presented by Margot Bloomstein at Generate 2018, #generateconf, on April 27, 2018, in New York City.
Whether you’re an individual contributor, sales manager or VP of Sales, your primary job focus is to achieve an assigned revenue quota. The concept seems simple. Find quality opportunities. Engage them. Move them through the sales process. And close the business. The reality, however, is quite different given the multitude of challenges you must overcome along the entire buying cycle.
Accelerate or Incubate? Making the Right Choice: Danielle D'Agostaro, Alchemist Accelerator
The good news is entrepreneurs just starting out have more choice than ever when it comes to incubators and accelerators. The bad news relates to the good. With all those seeming options, how are you supposed to pick? What you can expect from accelerators and incubators. Questions to ask to narrow your choice down to the right programs. And how to get in.

How to Embrace Pace with Content Strategy for Slow ExperiencesMargot Bloomstein
Fast and efficient may rule the web, but efficient experiences aren’t always effective, for many reasons. Instead, try slowing down your customers to improve learning and advance their journey. Fast-to-publish and quick-to-sell can lead to low lifetime value, shopping cart abandonment, returned merchandise—and understandably unhappy reviews. Attend this session, and learn how to craft appropriately-paced customer experiences that allow the time and space for discovery, customer confidence, and insights that last long after the conversion. The secrets live in how you craft copy and prioritize content types to move customers forward wisely, to enjoy the journey mile after mile.

BA and Beyond 18 - Robin Smets - Putting why back into the BA's perspectivesBA and Beyond
Do companies overlook the long-term added value of having BA’s present in the strategical and tactical levels? The BA role should also be about exploring and recommending solutions, rather than only executing detailed analysis on (sometimes) sub-optimal decisions. In the Belgium market, people with the title ‘BA’ generally work as requirements engineers or functional analysts. How can we help to position the BA where they are able to generate better value?
By asking ‘Why’ on strategical, tactical and operational level, BA’s are able to focus on delivering the real value sought by stakeholders. When linking the ‘why’ across those levels, we can leverage affective organizational commitment and generate better outcome in a more efficient and durable way.
Learn how asking why can be a catalyst for demonstrating to organizations why BA’s are of value during the decision-making process.

To hold a competitive advantage in today’s marketplace, top companies and sales executives focus on driving more top-of-funnel activity. Find the right prospects. Capture their attention. Set meetings. Convert them to customers. The question then becomes: How do you best do this?
* What role do certifications play in us choosing the people we work with and trust?
* Especially when it comes to Agile Certifications - how do we evaluate alternatives to choose the most reliable Certifications in the market?
* How does the way in which we approach certifications in our professional life compare to the way in which we approach certifications in our personal life - for instance, the way in which we might choose a pediatrician for our child?
This presentation takes us on a guided inquiry through these questions.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.
