In June, the Nielsen work force voted 14 to 6 in favor of union representation by Jersey City, N.J., Local 164. Lead Organizer Marc Aisen worked with Region 1 Coordinator Steve Rockafellow and Local 164 Organizer Steve Clay on the campaign.
The Employer scheduled a meeting of bargaining unit employees to be conducted by CEO Edward Dinan on August 17th, at 9:00 A.M. in the boardroom located on the sixth floor of the Employer’s hospital. At approximately 8:45 A.M. there were 10-11 employees in the room, consuming coffee and food which were provided by the Employer. At that time, Marc Aisen, Organizer for the Petitioner entered the boardroom, accompanied by two other individuals. Aisen and the two individuals walked over to employee Nidal Marji. Aisen while standing about two feet away from him asked Marji, “are you Nicky Shoes?”3 Marji replied “yeah”. Aisen responded, “back off, leave my guys alone, let them make their own choice.” As he was talking, Aisen motioned with his hands towards the other side of the room, where several bargaining unit employees, including Jeffrey Traviss, and Peter Quinn were sitting.4 Marji replied “no problem” and the conversation ended.

Het gouwe, maar ouwe waarde disciplinemodel van Treacy en Wiersema (1996) biedt nog steeds houvast om na te denken over je eigen organisatie. Echter de laatste 20 jaar heeft de wereld niet stil gestaan. Is het nog steeds zaligmakend en is de wereld nog zo "zwart wit" als de heren eisen of zijn er andere alternatieven?

5. Toelichting:
In ons paradigma-denken waarderen we in het
algemeen het resultaat en niet de wijze waarop het
resultaat tot stand gekomen is.
Het antwoord op de vraag zou moeten zijn: Het is niet
zonder meer te zeggen wie de beste manager is. Het
hangt namelijk af van van de analyse en het
afweegproces dat hij heeft gemaakt. Wie weet had de
manager van case 2 een nog veel beter resultaat
kunnen halen en was case 1 al bij voorbaat tot mislukken
gedoemd.
