This document discusses a research project called "Screens in the Wild" that aims to integrate public screens into urban spaces in a way that regenerates communities. - Going beyond local interaction, Urban Screens are becoming networked (and increasingly connected through audio and video technologies), allowing new possibilities for social interactions and emergent encounters to arise [5]. Some projects have suggested using these screens to augment the connectivity of remote communities using videoconferencing technologies

- Our research takes a targeted and longitudinal approach in order to understand a complex range of social, technical and interactional issues. In five work packages, we will address the following project objectives with the overall aim to shorten the adoption of technology life-cycle: OBJECTIVES Public experience: how the public interact around and through the connected screens; how different social groups appropriate technology under different spatial conditions. Technical aspects and design of interaction space: explore the impact that various interaction modes have on the public experience. Editorial input and management: how screen managers can perform management of access, and filtering of content that will promote community empowerment and engagement.
