This document summarizes a presentation on autonomic computing given by Prachi Shah and Dhiren Shah at the APGI2018 conference. It defines autonomic computing as computing systems that can independently manage their own operations and maintenance tasks, similar to the autonomic nervous system. The presentation outlines key characteristics of autonomic systems including self-configuration, self-optimization, self-healing, and self-protection. It also describes the basic architecture of autonomic computing with managed resources, sensors, effectors, and autonomic managers that implement control loops. Examples are given of how autonomic systems can automatically configure, optimize, recover from failures, and protect themselves.
