Between Creation and Consumption: The Muddle in the MiddleOnFrame Ltd
But until recently, there’s really
only been one channel available
for delivering it: broadcast TV.
For brand marketers, that meant expensive TV ads. For media and content owners, it meant a tightly
managed channel to market controlled by a few power players. However, recent advances in consumer
devices and ubiquitous broadband have changed this. Today, there are numerous ways to get content in
front of viewers and a large number of business models to play with.
At one end, content creators have increasingly powerful and sophisticated tools at their fi ngertips and
at the other end, consumers are hungry for more and more high quality entertainment. The range of
outlets through which audiences consume content has also grown and diversifi ed with new technologies
and devices allowing them to watch and listen anytime, anywhere. This recent explosion of new channels
and business models has led to an equally dramatic infl ux of innovators, disruptors and challengers – all
competing for a fi nite resource: the time and attention of consumers.
On the surface, everything seems fi ne, however many content owners, distributors and marketers
responsible for getting their content to market are unable to make the most of what should be a golden
age. The tools and systems currently being used to manage and distribute content belong to the past.
They are expensive to run, often add unnecessary bureaucracy to everyday processes, limit commercial
and creative agility and usually rely on third parties to execute requests.
Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be like this. If, that is, the industry recognises that its traditional ways of
managing and distributing fi lm and TV content are no longer sustainable in today’s multi-platform world.
If content owners are to regain control of their own destiny, they need to embrace new technologies and
platforms to eliminate the friction and infl exibility imposed by the old ways of managing media. Consumers
are demanding ever more fl exibility in the ways in which they consume and control content, shifting
constantly between different screens and devices.

An overview over Enterprise 2.0, its definition, principles and basic impacts plus some international cases used at the Community Management event in Milan, Italy
Now the ppt can be downloaded
1) The document discusses how Web 2.0 technologies like blogs, wikis, and social networks can improve knowledge sharing and collaboration in businesses compared to traditional knowledge management systems.
2) It notes many employees find existing systems inefficient and time-consuming to use, wasting up to 24% of time on information searching and analysis.
3) Web 2.0 allows for easier authoring, tagging, linking and notification of content which can increase productivity and engagement by breaking down barriers to information consumption and collaboration.
The document discusses content mapping, which involves separating content, structure, and presentation to allow for reuse. It defines key concepts like content objects, which are chunks of information organized by topic. Content objects can have different levels of granularity. Information typing specifies the purpose of content independent of format. Common types include procedures, topics, and facts. The methodology aims to increase formality in corporate information without undue investment.
The document provides an overview of content management (CM) systems for publishers. It defines CM and discusses how it emerged from publishing systems for print and then web content. The document outlines common CM functions, reviews various CM vendor solutions and technologies, and discusses challenges in implementing CM systems. It also examines how CM benefits scholarly/STM publishers specifically, noting drivers to increase efficiency and time to market. Most STM publishers see CM encompassing both print and web with a preference for selecting integrated components over custom builds.
This document discusses modern project management trends, including:
1. Projects are increasingly global with dispersed teams across different time zones and cultures, challenging project managers. New communication tools help facilitate collaboration.
2. Projects are becoming smaller in size due to cloud computing and shadow IT. This increases the total number of projects to manage while integrating diverse technologies.
3. Cloud-based project management tools provide a centralized place for tracking progress, enabling collaboration between dispersed teams. This facilitates management of distributed global projects.
4. Outsourcing project management services is increasing but brings challenges around responsibilities and commercial negotiations that sometimes require the client to intervene.
Evolution of the Paperless Accounts Payable Department - BancTecJone Smith
The document discusses the evolution towards a paperless accounts payable (AP) department through the implementation of a paperless invoice processing hub. It recommends establishing a shared services center as the hub and implementing multiple technologies as spokes, including electronic data interchange, scanning and data capture, electronic invoicing networks, and evaluated receipt settlement to streamline the purchase-to-pay process and reduce paper transactions and manual processing. Workflow software is identified as a key foundational technology to route electronic transactions and exceptions. The Big Three tech trends—mobility, cloud computing and the
Internet of Things—show that the world is truly going digital. As a
result, organizations need to begin operating at the speed of digital, especially if the business is to take advantage of real-time, alwayson connections within a data-rich environment.
Mobility in particular is at the heart of the digital customer
experience, with users increasingly spending more time with their
devices. And the mobile theme of always-on, always-available further increases the need for organizations to embrace truly agile approaches to development, expanding the definition of becoming quicker and more adaptive. Mobility also relies on an ecosystem of applications and systems to deliver desired, compelling customer experiences. It requires that front-end mobile apps as well as other applications in the ecosystem move at lightning speed.

Introduction of Cybersecurity with OSS at Code Europe 2024Hiroshi SHIBATA
I develop the Ruby programming language, RubyGems, and Bundler, which are package managers for Ruby. Today, I will introduce how to enhance the security of your application using open-source software (OSS) examples from Ruby and RubyGems.
The first topic is CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). I have published CVEs many times. But what exactly is a CVE? I'll provide a basic understanding of CVEs and explain how to detect and handle vulnerabilities in OSS.
Next, let's discuss package managers. Package managers play a critical role in the OSS ecosystem. I'll explain how to manage library dependencies in your application.
I'll share insights into how the Ruby and RubyGems core team works to keep our ecosystem safe. By the end of this talk, you'll have a better understanding of how to safeguard your code.
From Natural Language to Structured Solr Queries using LLMsSease
This talk draws on experimentation to enable AI applications with Solr. One important use case is to use AI for better accessibility and discoverability of the data: while User eXperience techniques, lexical search improvements, and data harmonization can take organizations to a good level of accessibility, a structural (or “cognitive” gap) remains between the data user needs and the data producer constraints.
That is where AI – and most importantly, Natural Language Processing and Large Language Model techniques – could make a difference. This natural language, conversational engine could facilitate access and usage of the data leveraging the semantics of any data source.
The objective of the presentation is to propose a technical approach and a way forward to achieve this goal.
The key concept is to enable users to express their search queries in natural language, which the LLM then enriches, interprets, and translates into structured queries based on the Solr index’s metadata.
This approach leverages the LLM’s ability to understand the nuances of natural language and the structure of documents within Apache Solr.
The LLM acts as an intermediary agent, offering a transparent experience to users automatically and potentially uncovering relevant documents that conventional search methods might overlook. The presentation will include the results of this experimental work, lessons learned, best practices, and the scope of future work that should improve the approach and make it production-ready.
