Gender stereotyping reflects the perceived psychological traits and characteristics of males and females, and the related roles that are thought to be appropriate for each gender in family, work, school, and society as a whole. Gender stereotyping impacts individuals in terms of how they view themselves and their place in society, as well as how society views the respective gender and the appropriate behavior and roles for each. The implications can be far reaching.
It is evident by studying history that gender stereotypes have changed over time. One obvious example is in the history of women's suffrage. It was believed in the U.S. that women were not sufficiently mentally astute to vote on the important issues impacting society. The belief was that a woman's place was in the home raising children and taking care of the domestic needs of the family. With women's suffrage in the early 20th century and the century that has followed, this stereotype has been changed. Not only do women vote but they hold every office at all levels including heads of state and presidencies across the globe. The 2016 presidential election even featured the first female nominee from a major political party.
As a foundation for the study of gender, this Application Assignment asks you to explore gender stereotypes in some depth, including a consideration of the numerous stereotypes for both men and women; how stereotypes differ by culture; and how stereotypes impact individuals of that gender, the opposite gender, and society as a whole.

1. I would be most interested in studying violence in society. While this topic is also quite broad, I would love to know more about violence in history across multiple cultures, as well as research on factors that feed into an individual's propensity toward it (or against it) and which mitigation efforts are most effective.
2. I am working toward medical school, with the end goal of being a forensic pathologist. Because my main motivation has been my background in social justice, it seems the most relevant chapter to me would be Chapter 12, Stratification and Inequality. Many of the consequences of marginalization (poverty, lack of access to adequate health care, isolation, mental health struggles, etc.) have clear links to untimely death. I think knowing more about why these inequalities happen is key to solving them.
3. Collins describes the experience of opening the “sociological eye” through experiencing a switch in our way of looking at things, as well as the path of social activism. I am more aligned with the latter (Collins 2013). Aside from issues relating to burnout, I imagine conflict can occur when critique of a group or individuals within it becomes necessary but is also seen as a detriment to the overall goal of the movement they support.
4. I most agree with Comte and the Law of Three Stages. It is very relevant to the present day. I do believe that the antidote to social chaos is the acceptance and application of the third (positive or scientific) stage, but I’m not confident that we’ll get there (McIntyre 2013). At the risk of outright pessimism, this is the same reason for my disagreement with Durkheim, who I feel may have idealized cooperation in premodern societies.
5. My Gemeinschaft relationships include those between myself and my friends, and between myself and my partner. My Gesellschaft relationships are with people such as my boss, or my academic advisor. I consider my Gemeinschaft relationships more important, as they are not contingent upon me being in a certain environment (working a specific job or being a current student). My personal bonds can and have transcended time, distance, and different stations in life.

1. I think what is meant by sociological imagination is being a very open minded person who looks at sociological interactions and what influences it. 2. I think what Mills was trying to say in this quote is that Society turns women into a "slave" for men. Men are described as "Chief Providers"(McIntyre pg16). Women are dependent on the men after they get married, and that in a marriage, no satisfactory solution can be made unless a 3rd party is at part. Basically saying that society is the reason why marriage is not satisfied for couples. Coontz would agree with this because society standards cause arguments in relationships. It says in her article that "Social differences limit how fair or equal a personal relationship between two individuals from the different groups..."(Coontz 12). Another thing she was saying was that "various groups... have unequal access to economic resources, political power, social status". 3. A person with an individualistic view looks at what a person does as an individual. They would examine what drives a person to commit crimes, and fix it from what they are driven from. However the sociologist view is a little different. It talks about how an individual learns from society, and influences them to commit crimes. Saying people who are criminals learn it from other people around them. Sociologist would try to reduce crimes by creating a better environment to where people are not influenced negatively.
4. Out of the three theoretical perspectives described from McIntyre, I thought the Functionalist perspective was the most interesting one. It talks about how a society works together in order to function. We pay tax to the state, and then the state funds school, where kids go to school. This perspective basically says that our society works as a circle, trying to reach equilibriu.

Constructive Criticism: Be careful to simple typos. There were some small mechanical errors throughout the paper that needs to be fixed. Make sure not to repeat the same descriptive words in the same sentence. I’ve noticed throughout the paper “it should be noted” has been used a lot. Also, make sure the transition between sections flow well. Even though sections are broken into different parts, it still needs to be one concise paper. By aware of run on sentences as well. I saw a couple throughout the paper.
Grade: 80/100 – I found that there were multiple mechanical errors throughout the paper. The paper was clear, however I think if you were to talk about a specific group of people it would strengthen the paper. As of right now, the paper of too broad. Make it more specific and you will be good to go. Also, try not to use the exact same wording Dr. Peterson used for your section titles.

1. I would be most interested in studying violence in society. While this topic is also quite broad, I would love to know more about violence in history across multiple cultures, as well as research on factors that feed into an individual's propensity toward it (or against it) and which mitigation efforts are most effective.
2. I am working toward medical school, with the end goal of being a forensic pathologist. Because my main motivation has been my background in social justice, it seems the most relevant chapter to me would be Chapter 12, Stratification and Inequality. Many of the consequences of marginalization (poverty, lack of access to adequate health care, isolation, mental health struggles, etc.) have clear links to untimely death. I think knowing more about why these inequalities happen is key to solving them.
3. Collins describes the experience of opening the “sociological eye” through experiencing a switch in our way of looking at things, as well as the path of social activism. I am more aligned with the latter (Collins 2013). Aside from issues relating to burnout, I imagine conflict can occur when critique of a group or individuals within it becomes necessary but is also seen as a detriment to the overall goal of the movement they support.
4. I most agree with Comte and the Law of Three Stages. It is very relevant to the present day. I do believe that the antidote to social chaos is the acceptance and application of the third (positive or scientific) stage, but I’m not confident that we’ll get there (McIntyre 2013). At the risk of outright pessimism, this is the same reason for my disagreement with Durkheim, who I feel may have idealized cooperation in premodern societies.
5. My Gemeinschaft relationships include those between myself and my friends, and between myself and my partner. My Gesellschaft relationships are with people such as my boss, or my academic advisor. I consider my Gemeinschaft relationships more important, as they are not contingent upon me being in a certain environment (working a specific job or being a current student). 1. I think what is meant by sociological imagination is being a very open minded person who looks at sociological interactions and what influences it. A person who is able to look at a situation, and pull away from what they know and look at it at a different lens. A benefit of developing a sociological eye is that it will look at problem in different ways and come up with with different solutions. Some other benefits is that it gives an individual more knowledge and insight for a community, a society and as a whole.
2. I think what Mills was trying to say in this quote is that Society turns women into a "slave" for men. Men are described as "Chief Providers"(McIntyre pg16). Women are dependent on the men after they get married, and that in a marriage, no satisfactory solution can be made unless a 3rd party is at part. Basically saying that society is the reason why marriage is not satisfied for couples. Coontz would agree with this because society standards cause arguments in relationships. It says in her article that "Social differences limit how fair or equal a personal relationship between two individuals from the different groups..."(Coontz 12). Saying that two individuals in a relationhip will always be affected since they come from various groups in society. Another thing she was saying was that "various groups... have unequal access to economic resources, political power, social status". These differences causes problems in marriages, just like what Mills was saying in his quote. Saying that Marriages are affected by a 3rd party, or affected by something else like inequality, and differences.
3. A person with an individualistic view looks at what a person does as an individual. They would examine what drives a person to commit crimes, and fix it from what they are driven from. However the sociologist view is a little different. It talks about how an individual learns from society, and influences them to commit crimes. Saying people who are criminals learn it from other people around them. Sociologist would try to reduce crimes by creating a better environment to where people are not influenced negatively.
4. Out of the three theoretical perspectives described from McIntyre, I thought the Functionalist perspective was the most interesting one. It talks about how a society works together in order to function. We pay tax to the state, and then the state funds school, where kids go to school. This perspective basically says that our society works as a circle, trying to reach equilibriu.

Tell us who the discriminators are and who the discriminated are.
Constructive Criticism: Be careful to simple typos. There were some small mechanical errors throughout the paper that needs to be fixed. Make sure not to repeat the same descriptive words in the same sentence. I’ve noticed throughout the paper “it should be noted” has been used a lot. Also, make sure the transition between sections flow well. Even though sections are broken into different parts, it still needs to be one concise paper. By aware of run on sentences as well. I saw a couple throughout the paper.
Grade: 80/100 – I found that there were multiple mechanical errors throughout the paper. The paper was clear, however I think if you were to talk about a specific group of people it would strengthen the paper. As of right now, the paper of too broad. Make it more specific and you will be good to go. Also, try not to use the exact same wording Dr. Peterson used for your section titles.

Gender stereotyping reflects the perceived psychological traits and characteristics of males and females, and the related roles that are thought to be appropriate for each gender in family, work, school, and society as a whole. Gender stereotyping impacts individuals in terms of how they view themselves and their place in society, as well as how society views the respective gender and the appropriate behavior and roles for each. The implications can be far reaching.
It is evident by studying history that gender stereotypes have changed over time. One obvious example is in the history of women's suffrage. It was believed in the U.S. that women were not sufficiently mentally astute to vote on the important issues impacting society. The belief was that a woman's place was in the home raising children and taking care of the domestic needs of the family. With women's suffrage in the early 20th century and the century that has followed, this stereotype has been changed. Not only do women vote but they hold every office at all levels including heads of state and presidencies across the globe. The 2016 presidential election even featured the first female nominee from a major political party.
As a foundation for the study of gender, this Application Assignment asks you to explore gender stereotypes in some depth, including a consideration of the numerous stereotypes for both men and women; how stereotypes differ by culture; and how stereotypes impact individuals of that gender, the opposite gender, and society as a whole.
To prepare for this assignment:

Biological evolution involves genetic changes in a group of organisms. These changes occur on two levels:

Every person has a worldview whether he realizes it or not. What is a worldview? James W. Sire defines a worldview as:
[A] commitment, a fundamental orientation of the heart, that can be expressed as a story or in a set of presuppositions (assumptions which may be true, partially true or entirely false) that we hold (consciously or subconsciously, consistently or inconsistently) about the basic constitution of reality, and that provides the foundation on which we live and move and have our being.

Stated more succinctly, "…[A] worldview is simply the total set of beliefs that a person has about the biggest questions in life." F. Leroy Forlines describes such questions as the "inescapable questions of life." Life's inescapable questions include the following: "Is there a God? If so, what is He like? How can I know Him? Who am I? Where am I? How can I tell right from wrong? Is there life after death? What should I and what can I do about guilt? How can I deal with my inner pain?" Life's biggest, inescapable questions relate to whether there is a God, human origins, identity, purpose, and the hereafter, just to mention a few.
Satisfying answers to the "inescapable questions of life" are provided by the Holy Scriptures. The Holy Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, form the starting point and foundation for the biblical worldview. More specifically related to our purposes, the apostle Paul reflects several components of the biblical worldview in his letter to the Romans.
The apostle Paul authored Romans toward the end of his third missionary journey, about 57 A.D. He addressed this letter specifically to the Christians in Rome. At the time the church in Rome consisted of Jewish and Gentile believers, with Gentile Christians in the majority. Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome in order to address specific concerns and challenges they were facing. While Romans was an occasional letter (not a systematic theology), Paul presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a very systematic fashion. The Gospel is actually the overarching theme of Romans as Paul spells this out in his programmatic statement in 1:16–17. As the systematic presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Romans is foundational to the biblical/Christian worldview.

Motivation is the psychological forces that determine the direction of a person’s behavior in an organization, a person level of effort and a person level of persistence in the face of obstacles. Managers should be concerned with motivation because it explains why people behave the way they do. It can explain why a waiter is mean or nice, or why the customer service representative you are dealing with is helpful and understanding or rude and unhelpful.
Leadership is the process by which a person exerts influence over other people and inspires, motivates, and directs their activities, to help achieve group or organizational goal. Leaders are affective when they can unite a group to achieve a common goal. There are five types of power that a leader must balance. Legitimate power: the authority that a manager has by virtue of their position in an organizations hierarch. Reward power: the ability of a manager to give or withhold tangible and intangible rewards. Coercive power: the ability of a manager to punish others. Expert power: power that is based on the special knowledge, skills, and expertise that a leader possesses. Referent power: power that comes from subordinates’ and coworkers’ respect, admiration, and loyalty.
There are five key elements of group dynamics. Group size: the number of members in a group can be an important determinant of members’ motivation, commitment and group performance. Group roles: a set of behaviors and task that a member of a group is expected to perform because of his or her position in the group.
