Paragraph 5
- Delivers me an idea of the minute structure of the pot
- Understanding on how to use the pot adequately
The idea of producing kitchen utensil sketch comes about due to my first
cooking experience. The acknowledgement of the applications and methods on
kitchen utensils undeniably brought me to a conclusion of using a pot rather than a
pan. Technically, boiling is easier than frying. In the illustration, water is added into
the pot; then, put the fresh ingredients and seasonings respectively when the water
is boiled. Yet frying is very practical, because cooking skills need to be applied
especially when frying fish. This theoretically is similar to producing a sketch.
Subsequently, when drawing a pan a greater oval shape must be expected on the
paper. This requires more drawing skills as compared to illustrating a pot.
Imagine the pot as a hummingbird. It is small, as compared to other big pots
in my house’s kitchen. The handle is at one end, at this point, this looks like short tail
of the bird. It is silver in colour and made out of stainless steel. Because of that, it is
easy to clean, especially after deep-frying a particular dish. The transparency of lid
make the process of cooking invisible to cooker; they can observe food in process,
and this increases their appetite, and makes them did not feel tired through the
process. The pot has enormous ring-like patterns on its metal at the bottom of the
base. It also has a vent hole on the lid, and it gives them the attracting scent of food.
The metal of inner pot is filled with aged scratches during cooking. The pot is hard in
sense of touch, and with a kind of metallic smell when sniffing in the pot. It also has
metallic taste, and produces a high-pitched sound when being hit.
As the sketch goes on, the prior concern holds on the position of pot. So, tilt
the pot in a good view of drawing. Use Faber-Castell colour pencils as a tool to
sketch, as it has more preferences such as gold and silver colour. First, use silver
colour pencil to lightly delineate the initial sketch which is the mere structure of the
pot. On the process, barely measure each size of the component of the pot to make
an adequate portion of section drawing. After that, start to use black colour pencil to
draw the outline of the handle. Then, limn the structure of the handle by light and
dark techniques, applied it because of the lighting. Continue the focus on the lid, use
light blue colour pencil to fill up colour on the part of the lid that involved only glass
texture, provides with the shadowing of reflection on the lid’s glass. Tilt the colour
pencil when filling it to reach the equilibrium of colour for the covering of the whole
texture. Depicted the pot on the paper gently instead of completing it in a harsh way
which makes the colour spread unevenly. The lid’s metallic seal and top as well as
the vent holes of lid, is limned darker than the outline, using the silver colour pencil
according to the light and dark techniques. Later, shade the rest of the pot according
to the texture under lighting. Finally, use the black colour pencil to darken the outline
of the pot sketch.
The pot can be used to cook family favourite’s noodles soup. This can be
made with some spices-filling and fresh vegetables, and moderate degree of fire.
The pot can also be used to fry nuggets, fish ball and meatball, especially when
there is occasions like birthday parties, relatives-and-family-gathering day et cetera.
The pot could give refreshment for the early birds, as such half-boiled egg and fast-
cooked side-vegetables are on the plate. Moreover, the pot is also a good utensil for
instant noodles cooking, especially for those who wanted to have quick lunch in the
afternoon before rushing to the office. Furthermore, the pot could serve as a utensil
for electrical cooking due to its physical properties when there happens to be no gas
in the coal stove. This provide ease to family members during dinner because there’s
no gas service during this moment.
In a nutshell, sketching the pot delivers me an idea of the minute structure of
the pot. It gives me more understanding on how to use the pot adequately.
Subsequently, the first sketch is like a framework that reflected on the glass itself.
The magnitude of work is similar to a second identity rather than exhibiting the
outstanding properties. However, the second sketch illustrates the value of originality
and presenting the pot in good perspective and lively appearances. The second
sketch vividly portrayed the complexity of visual world in eyesight of artists. There’s a
saying: ‘Sketching is everything, sketches are nothing.’ Herein I realised the
importance of processing rather than valuing the sketch itself.
