Agile teams operate in the context of an organization, whether it's a small start-up or a global corporation. Organizations that are clear about why they are in business will have a mission identified that expresses what they're all about. A great mission can provide the spice that transforms a team from one that delivers features and projects, to one that passionately delivers business value with fire-breathing intensity. This session will explore how you can utilize the mission of an organization to spice up a team's work, and how a team with a great mission behind it can influence agility throughout an organization.

Andrew Carnegie wrote himself a memo in 1868 questioning his career in business and contemplating alternative paths focused on education, public speaking, and managing a newspaper. He realized the "amassing of wealth is one of the worst species of idolatry" and wanted to use his wealth and time for more elevating pursuits by age 35. However, it took Carnegie 20 years after founding Carnegie Steel, the largest industrial company of its time, to make and give away his fortune of over $350 million, focusing on philanthropy like public libraries and world peace. The document discusses entrepreneurship versus corporate careers and highlights principles and values like clarity of goals and means, and sincerity, openness, and team

Service design is about all the invisible aspects of a brand or product experience, but designers are frequently tasked with only the superficial parts of a customer problem. How do we break out of a pixel-perfect box?
This talk focuses on the role of storytelling, and new ways to enroll stakeholders into that process as a way of helping them understand that the most important consideration in design is context, and how the most important design decisions are usually invisible and hard to detect.

Venture capital is a major driver of Israel's startup economy. Some key points:
1) Israel has over 4,000 high-tech companies and receives around $2 billion in venture investments and $2.5 billion in mergers and acquisitions annually.
2) Successful venture capital funds in Israel can generate returns of 30x on their investments by backing startups that go on to IPOs or acquisitions worth over $300 million.
3) For a startup to attract venture capital, it needs a viable business model, a solution to a real problem, and a capable founding team with a realistic plan for scaling.
The document discusses strategies for using social media and building relationships online. It provides tips for publishers to share their ideas and creations with the world through channels like websites, blogs, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. It also discusses the importance of engaging in two-way conversations rather than one-way broadcasts, and establishing trust and transparency with connections as the new culture is more open and participatory. Some specific relationship building strategies mentioned include becoming a helpful connector, adding value to others, focusing social efforts to a central hub, giving to receive, building social capital before needing it, personal branding, and being an interesting person with unique experiences and content to share.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
