1. Assessment Task #1. Explain and draw the observed changes in temperatures from
1951-2015?
The Philippines' annual mean temperature has increased by 0.68°C during the past 65
years (1951-2015), which equates to an average rate of growth of roughly
0.1°C/decade (Fig. 1a). Contrarily, the country's average annual temperature has risen
at a somewhat slower pace of about 0.05°C/decade (Fig. 1b & 1c, respectively).
2. In the Philippines, the annual mean surface air temperature is predicted to rise from
0.9°C to 1.9°C under the moderate emission scenario (RCP4.5) and from 1.2°C to
2.3°C under the high emission scenario (RCP 8.5), and from 1.3°C to 2.5°C (RCP4.5)
to as warm as 2.5°C to 4.1°C (RCP8.5) by the end of the 21st century (2070-2099)
(Fig. 2).
