3. Definition of Quality
Quality is difficult to define, it's an abstract term, and it requires continuous and dynamic
adaptation of products and services to fulfill or exceed the requirements or expectations
of all parties in the organization and the community as a whole.
'Quality means conformance to requirements' (Philip Crosby, 'Quality Is Free'). It does
not matter whether or not the requirements are articulated or specified; if a product does
not fully satisfy, it lacks quality in some respect. ('Quality is binary -- you've either got it,
or you haven't' -- ibid. Note that both these quotes are 'top-of-the-head' and therefore
approximate.)
The starting-point for a 'quality product', therefore, is precise determination of the
requirements of its users. This may not be possible in practice, but should still be
attempted as best possible.
Note that the 'quality' of a product is the sum of multiple separate Quality Attributes.
Quality relates to the characteristics by which customers or stakeholders judge an
organization, product or service. Assessment of quality involves use of information
gathered from interested parties to identify differences between users' expectations and
experiences.
QUALITY POLICY
At the process level, the company is fully dedicated to total integration of Tata Business
Excellence Model practices (modeled on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award)
in all its day-to-day operations.
BVQi stands for Bureau Vertas Quality institution

capability to meet the present and future demands of a large segment of the automotive
industry. The company has three large-sized manufacturing plants in Western India with
a total capability to supply nearly 30,000 tones of components and assemblies a year.
With a range of presses - hydraulic and mechanical, single acting and double action - and
other required equipment of international standard, the plants have complete capabilities
for making complex sheet metal components of different sizes.
11. Press
Press working may be defined as chip less manufacturing process by which various
components are made from sheet metal. This process is also termed as cold stamping.
The machine is used for a press working is called s press.
Press operations are as follows which are usually carried out-BLANKING,

WELDINGS
Welding is defined as a localized coalescence of metal, where in coalesance is
obtained by heating to suitable temperature with or without the application of
pressure and with or without the use of filler metal. The filler metal has a melting
point approx. same as base metal
The welding process is used to metallurgical join together two metal pieces, to
produce essentially a single piece of metal. The process results in what is known as
Permanent Joint
A good welded joint is as strong as the parent metals the product known as
Weldment
