INTRODUCTION
A teaching method is nothing but a way of imparting method is
nothing but a scientific way of presenting the subject keeping in mind the
psychological and physical requirements of children. There may be more than one
method of teaching, as there are more than one road for going to a destination with
the development of the subject matter and knowledge of social studies. Various

The methods of teaching should expand the range of students interest.
“we would arrange all schools to provide in the time – table at least one free period
everyday in which students may pursue their favourite hobbies and creative
activities individually or in groups preferably under the guidance of some teacher.
The secondary education commission recommended corresponding to these major
aims of teaching, there are two ways of learning social studies. Learning through
the subject of matter and learning through organized situation and experiences for
former. The text book method the lecture method and the discussion method are
considered to be most suitable for the latter, the project method, the problem
method the unit method, the source method and the socialized recitation method

method, the unit method, the source method and socialized recitation method are
thought to be most effective and beneficial.
After considering the merits and limitations it may be conducted that
too much reliance and emphasis of the text book should not be placed because text
book method is not a complete method in itself. Teacher should use this method in
combination with other methods of teaching. Teacher should give assignment
which should be challenging so as to motivate the pupils for self activity learning
and self study.
As in the case of all other methods we should not think that socialized
recitation is a solutions to all class room problems. It is only a procedure which
may frequently be used by the teacher to much advantages.
“If the teaching is to reach it’s highest degree of efficiency. Teacher
must possess a broad understanding of all faces of is essential to good teaching.
