Purpose: This assignment requires you to propose an activism project (a) designed to address a social
justice issue and (b) that relates to a significant issue or topic addressed during the semester. You will
select a social justice issue and develop a proposal that addresses your goals for social transformation
related to the specific issue you’ve selected. Unless your instructor indicates otherwise, you have two
options: (1) you may propose a personal act of activism involving only yourself; (2) or you may

Each submitted proposal should include the following:
1. Need Statement: Use the following questions to guide the creation of your statement of need.
• What is the need for the project? Is it a serious problem or issue, or a lack of a needed service?
• What are the facts and the sources that back up the need for your project?
• Who will benefit from the project and how? Define the audience by age, gender, location,
ethnic background, country of origin, or a combination of these factors.
Considering the answers to the above questions, you can begin to craft the statement of need.
Remember that your final statement of need will:
• describe the status quo that exists before the solution to the problem
• target a population group(s) and a geographic location
• present the solution to the problem
• describe the benefits to the target audience(s) and possibly to society at large.
2. Mission Statement: A mission statement is a philosophical statement about the student,
University, or faculty development that your project addresses. It should include:

Purpose:
This assignment requires you to propose an activism project (a) designed to address a social justice issue and (b) that relates to a significant issue or topic addressed during the semester. You will select a social justice issue and develop a proposal that addresses your goals for social transformation related to the specific issue you’ve selected. Unless your instructor indicates otherwise, you have two options: (1) you may propose a personal act of activism involving only yourself; (2) or you may propose a collective act that involves more people than just yourself. (See the next paragraph for examples of each type.) Regardless of your choice, the action you propose should be narrow and must be designed to address and/or bring awareness to the issue. You will produce a proposal that provides your rationale for the project, based on concepts discussed in required course readings. Personal Action Social-Justice projects can also focus on a creative product, an activist organization, or an activist event; examples include creating an information/resource sheet that can be shared on social media, giving a short presentation at an organization you are a member of (or have access to), creating a YouTube video regarding your social justice issue, or volunteering at a local organization that addresses your social justice issue.
The proposals must address a specific issue explored during the semester in our course. For example, a creative project proposal might propose to develop a series of murals for Denton or another local city, or a proposal for an organization might involve starting a nonprofit birthing center in a local city for low-income mothers. Our CLC group has selected the innovative idea to outfit gas stations with an automated machine that will give state and local tax credit for commonly recycled items such as plastic bottles, cans, and glass bottles. This tax credit in turn will be transferred to a reloadable card with credits for purchase of gasoline or diesel fuels at participating gas stations.
The Lean Startup Method
We evaluated the Lean Startup method for the recycling gas credit program. The utilization of the Lean Startup method is primarily evident for this project plan because as described in an article from 33 voices they indicate the method chooses the tasks the organization with identifying the variable within the project that needs to be accomplished for the project to be a success.
The project launch will be coordinated in a smaller scale in a more localized area with the most potential for growth, use, and success. The smaller scale coincides with the Lean Startup method or LSM in deriving the true usage rate for a smaller customer base and either confirming or debunking the initial idea that the customer desires to trade in a product which has little value to them in turn for a credit to purchase a highly necessary commodity.
The LSM allows for variances in several different areas for different customer bases throughout the state. The variances will be based upon user preferences, feedback via verbal, online, and written correspondence from the consumer using the machines and tax credit systems. The feedback from the consumer will be used to identify potential problems and correct them at the current location and provide a future action plan for new stations.

Writing the Detailed Budget:
The detailed budget for your proposal should be clear, well organized and easy to understand. Consider

Direct Costs
Direct costs for your grant are perhaps the most important component in your grant’s budget. They
represent the funds you are seeking from the funding source. The costs described below are considered
direct costs:
Personnel: Show the breakdown of hours and weeks. Such as: $10.00 per hour X 40 hours per week X
52 weeks = $20,800.
Travel: Make sure to provide clear formulas and documentation for why travel is necessary. Include the

Social Justice Action Project Proposal
Purpose:
This assignment requires you to propose an activism project (a) designed to address a social justice issue and (b) that relates to a significant issue or topic addressed during the semester. You will select a social justice issue and develop a proposal that addresses your goals for social transformation related to the specific issue you’ve selected. Unless your instructor indicates otherwise, you have two options: (1) you may propose a personal act of activism involving only yourself; (2) or you may propose a collective act that involves more people than just yourself. (See the next paragraph for examples of each type.) Regardless of your choice, the action you propose should be narrow and must be designed to address and/or bring awareness to the issue. Our CLC group has selected the innovative idea to outfit gas stations with an automated machine that will give state and local tax credit for commonly recycled items such as plastic bottles, cans, and glass bottles. This tax credit in turn will be transferred to a reloadable card with credits for purchase of gasoline or diesel fuels at participating gas stations.
The Lean Startup Method
We evaluated the Lean Startup method for the recycling gas credit program. The utilization of the Lean Startup method is primarily evident for this project plan because as described in an article from 33 voices they indicate the method chooses the tasks the organization with identifying the variable within the project that needs to be accomplished for the project to be a success.
The project launch will be coordinated in a smaller scale in a more localized area with the most potential for growth, use, and success. The smaller scale coincides with the Lean Startup method or LSM in deriving the true usage rate for a smaller customer base and either confirming or debunking the initial idea that the customer desires to trade in a product which has little value to them in turn for a credit to purchase a highly necessary commodity.
The LSM allows for variances in several different areas for different customer bases throughout the state. The variances will be based upon user preferences, feedback via verbal, online, and written correspondence from the consumer using the machines and tax credit systems. The feedback from the consumer will be used to identify potential problems and correct them at the current location and provide a future action plan for new stations.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

This discussion is an opportunity to compare and contrast policies and resources
that support homeless children and families from two different cities, New York and
Chicago. The information you analyze will either support a recommendation you
make to either city or an idea for potential application of supports elsewhere.
Additionally, the graphic will be included as part of your Week Six Final Project
Prepare for this discussion by reviewing the required resources listed below for
each city and by reviewing the Week Three Instructor Guidance.
• Chicago Resources: Review the All Chicago website, the Chicago Coalition for the
Homelesswebsite, and the newspaper articles from Hirst (2013) and Steinberg
(2012) about homelessness in Chicago.
2. • New York Resources: Review the Covenant House website, the Safe Horizon
(2014) homeless youth facts page, and the Saulny (2012) newspaper article about
homeless youth in New York.
Initial Post: Review the resources provided above. Create an initial post that includes
the two parts described below.
Visual: Use a visual graphic of your choice such as a Venn diagram or chart using
PowerPoint, SmartArt features in Microsoft Word, or Thinking maps® to compare
and contrast the following five factors pertaining to homelessness:
a. Statistical data about the prevalence of youth homelessness in New York and
Chicago.
b. Statistical data regarding populations of homeless, including youth.
c. Types/levels of supports available including, but not limited to, shelters,
community and school-based supports, etc.
d. The policies supporting homelessness in each state.
e. At least one other interesting statistic or learned information of your choice
about homelessness.
Description: Along with the attachment of your graphic, describe in one to two
paragraphs the information about homelessness in New York and Chicago that
interested or surprised you. Discuss how the information enhanced what you
already knew about homelessness. Additionally, describe your viewpoint about the
programs, policies, supports, or resources explored in terms of their overall
effectiveness or potential for effectiveness. Finally, either suggest one
recommendation for the cities of New York and Chicago about how they can serve
groups and individuals, including homeless youth, or discuss how one policy or
resource you discovered could potentially benefit another city such as one you
reside in or that is familiar to you.
Guided Response: Respond to a minimum of two peers. In your responses, discuss
how the information in your peer’s visual comparison varies from your own. Did
your conclusions about the policies in these states vary? If yes, discuss what might
account for those variations. Respond to those areas your peers found surprising as
well as their recommendation for improvement. You are encouraged to ask a
question for clarification or to stimulate further thinking about their idea. Though
two replies is the basic expectation, for deeper engagement and learning you are
encouraged to provide responses to any comments or questions others have given to
you to further the conversation while also giving you opportunities to demonstrate
your content expertise, critical thinking, and real-world experiences with the topic of
homelessness.
