Famous Cuisine
○ Andhra Pradesh – The Andhra Thali
includes rice as its staple food, gongura,
avakaya, Pappu, Rasam, Several pickles,
Pootharekulu, Ariselu, Perugu, Bobbatlu,
Chakodilu, Garelu, Dondakaya vepudu,
Majjiga, etc.
○ Punjab – The punjabi thali includes Roti,
Phulka, Matar paneer, Palak paneer,
Makhi di roti, Sarson da saag, Chole, Jeera
rice, Gajar halwa, Lassi, pindi chole,
Amritsari aloo kulcha, etc.

Clothing
○ Andhra Pradesh – Andhra Pradesh is
regarded as Kohinoor of India which is
famous for its weaving and dying
industry.Women generally wear Saree
with a blouse.
○ Punjab – The Salwar Kameez is the
traditional dress of women in the
Punjab region. In some parts of the
Punjab, men also wear Kurta Pyjama.

Language
○ Andhra Pradesh – Telugu is the official
language of the Indian state of Andhra
Pradesh and Telangana. It is one of the
22 languages under schedule 8 of the
constitution of India. It is one of the
official languages of the union
territories of Puducherry. Telugu is a
protected language in South Africa.

Dance forms
○ Kuchipudi is one of the most famous
dance forms in Andhra Pradesh. Other
dance forms like Andhra Natyam,
Vilasya Natyam, Badakatha,
Burrakatha, Veeranatyam, Dappu, Buta
Bommalu, Tholu Bommalu, etc.
○ There are many dances, performed at
various celebrations. The overall style
can range from the high-energy
“bhangra” men’s dance to the more
reserved “jhumar,” the “gidha”
women’s dance.

Music forms
○ The ubiquitous Telugu language of
Andhra makes the true essence and
spirit of Carnatic music.
Annamacharya, Kshetrayya, and
Bhadrachala Ramadasa are some of the
great composers of Carnatic music.
The divine Carnatic music is said to
have instigated from the Gods.
○ The main Punjabi musical art is
Bhangra and Punjabi celebration of any
kind is incomplete without the sound of
dhol. Punjabis, in any part of the world,
have to have dhol players on every
happy occasion to have a wholesome
Punjabi-style celebration.

○ The state is leading in wood and stone
carving. Kalamkari, Bidri, Nirmal
Paintings have made their name
around the world. Srikalahasti
technique and Masulipatnam are used
during the printing of saris and
costume material.
○ Basketry is a longstanding handicraft
followed in most parts of Punjab.
Women folk of the villages of Punjab
used to make baskets for storage
purpose. The weaving of baskets is a
traditional practice among various
parts of Punjab which has gained
popularity.
