- The representation of reality and/or the technical qualities cannot be the central question. We cannot care about the fact that the artist worked hard, spent a long time on his piece, or represented best or not the reality. (standards change !) During the middle ages, no one cares about perspective. It has been considered as a lower form of art.

- Pose ( patiently waiting for a client ?), the flat colors (contrast with the opalescent colors of Venus, the way she shyly looks at the viewer, not facing him). The painting was considered as the most vulgar !

- In the past, paintings and statues were like architecture today : they served a specific purpose. Images were closely linked to reality If we take an image of our favorite movie star, we don’t want to pole needles in their eyes. Somewhere remains the feeling that we do it to the person. Very tiny difference between the image and the reality. It’s always been like this.
- It’s no decoration (they were found in caves where people didn’t live)
- There is no order, the images are found one on top of another. Showing movement ? Try to imagine watching these only with a candle (we ruin everything today!)
- They are probably the oldest relics of the power of picture making. Maybe these pictures would help them to hunt ?
