EurEau represents water utilities across Europe and engages with EU policymakers. A survey of its members found most sludge is currently used in agriculture, though there is a trend towards other options like incineration due to risk concerns. Regulatory frameworks are also pushing for phosphorus recovery. Examples from Greece show large wastewater plants applying thousands of tons of sludge annually to farmland under permits that regulate the process. Overall, sludge destination will continue to evolve with new routes required to recover phosphorus as regulations change.
This document provides an overview of integrated crop-livestock-forest systems and soil organic matter dynamics research in Brazil. It discusses:
1) The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and its research on low-carbon agriculture practices like no-till farming and integrated crop-livestock-forest systems.
2) Embrapa's research networks studying greenhouse gas emissions and carbon sequestration in grains, pastureland, and forest systems.
3) Preliminary results on soil organic matter dynamics in integrated crop-livestock-forest experimental fields using spectroscopic and laser-based techniques.

SFRI is a research institute in Vietnam that works on soil, fertilizer, and microbiology issues. It uses soil information for several agricultural applications: land evaluation to assess suitability for different crops; land use planning using optimization modeling; fertilizer recommendation maps; and an online soil database. Case studies demonstrate how SFRI creates land unit maps and land sustainability maps for provinces. It also details land use planning scenarios for a district using its LUPAS system, and a fertilizer recommendation map for the Red River Delta region. SFRI further determines geographic indicators for traditional Vietnamese crops based on their specific natural conditions and quality characteristics.

Commercial fertilizers provide precise amounts of nutrients but can be costly and have a higher risk of runoff. Manures add organic matter but have variable nutrient content and risks of pathogens. Composting manure stabilizes nutrients and kills pathogens, but making compost requires equipment and time. http://www.extension.org/67702 Land application of manure in regions with intense confined livestock and poultry production is an environmental concern when land is limiting because it promotes soil phosphorus (P) surplus and potential pollution of water resources. A net accumulation of soil P results from the disproportion between lower nitrogen (N) and P ratio (N:P) in animal manure and the higher N:P ratio in harvested crops. Although manure can be moved off the farm, its transportation becomes less economical with increasing distances from the source. Thus, management alternatives to land application are needed to resolve agronomic P imbalances for more effective recycling of manure P.

It describes how the economy can be viewed as a set of bathtubs with money flowing between citizens, enterprises, government and municipalities. Various types of market incentives are discussed, including subsidies, taxes, fees and trading schemes. The document emphasizes that instruments work best when implemented holistically to address market failures and incentivize circular products and services while ensuring a just transition. Upstream levies on extraction and imports are recommended, and research is needed on indicators to measure the effects of these market-based approaches to circularity.
This document discusses the need to shift from a "culture of fear" to a "culture of safety and sufficiency" in order to address issues like climate change and economic instability. It proposes focusing on local economies through the "Five P's" - Place, People, Products, Projects, and Payment systems. This approach aims to change the underlying narratives that fuel negative cultures based on scarcity, competition, and powerlessness. Local initiatives bringing people together around food, skills sharing, and celebration can help combine aspects of a "danger culture" focused on risk with a "peace culture" focused on community and positivity.

Presentation at the 3rd European Sustainable Phosphorus Conference (ESPC3), Helsinki, 11 - 13 June 2018, co-organised by the Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG) and the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform (ESPP), brought together nearly 300 participants from 30 countries talking about nutrient recycling and stewardship.

http://www.extension.org/67702 Land application of manure in regions with intense confined livestock and poultry production is an environmental concern when land is limiting because it promotes soil phosphorus (P) surplus and potential pollution of water resources. A net accumulation of soil P results from the disproportion between lower nitrogen (N) and P ratio (N:P) in animal manure and the higher N:P ratio in harvested crops. Although manure can be moved off the farm, its transportation becomes less economical with increasing distances from the source. Thus, management alternatives to land application are needed to resolve agronomic P imbalances for more effective recycling of manure P.

Em consonância com os ODS – Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável e a Estratégia Global para a Saúde das Mulheres, Crianças e Adolescentes, e aplicando uma abordagem baseada nos direitos humanos, os esforços de cuidados pós-natais devem expandir-se para além da cobertura e da simples sobrevivência, de modo a incluir cuidados de qualidade.
Estas diretrizes visam melhorar a qualidade dos cuidados pós-natais essenciais e de rotina prestados às mulheres e aos recém-nascidos, com o objetivo final de melhorar a saúde e o bem-estar materno e neonatal.
Uma “experiência pós-natal positiva” é um resultado importante para todas as mulheres que dão à luz e para os seus recém-nascidos, estabelecendo as bases para a melhoria da saúde e do bem-estar a curto e longo prazo. Uma experiência pós-natal positiva é definida como aquela em que as mulheres, pessoas que gestam, os recém-nascidos, os casais, os pais, os cuidadores e as famílias recebem informação consistente, garantia e apoio de profissionais de saúde motivados; e onde um sistema de saúde flexível e com recursos reconheça as necessidades das mulheres e dos bebês e respeite o seu contexto cultural.
Estas diretrizes consolidadas apresentam algumas recomendações novas e já bem fundamentadas sobre cuidados pós-natais de rotina para mulheres e neonatos que recebem cuidados no pós-parto em unidades de saúde ou na comunidade, independentemente dos recursos disponíveis.
É fornecido um conjunto abrangente de recomendações para cuidados durante o período puerperal, com ênfase nos cuidados essenciais que todas as mulheres e recém-nascidos devem receber, e com a devida atenção à qualidade dos cuidados; isto é, a entrega e a experiência do cuidado recebido. Estas diretrizes atualizam e ampliam as recomendações da OMS de 2014 sobre cuidados pós-natais da mãe e do recém-nascido e complementam as atuais diretrizes da OMS sobre a gestão de complicações pós-natais.
