This document is Mark Zuckerberg's 2004 PhD thesis from Columbia University titled "A Set Theoretic Approach to Lifting Procedures for 0, 1 Integer Programming". The thesis introduces a new lifting procedure for 0,1 integer programming problems that appends variables corresponding to logical statements about vectors in the feasible region. It is shown that this lifting generalizes previous approaches and provides a broader framework. The thesis suggests several polynomial time algorithms that exploit structure in the feasible set by tailoring new variable choices. Notable is producing in polynomial time a linear system whose solutions satisfy constraints on the feasible set with coefficients in {0,1,...,k}.

Editor's Notes
For talking points refer to about us from website.
Talking Points: Our Socio-Economic Environment and Technology can greatly impacts the design solutions delivered by A R K. Moreover, we ensure to strike a balance between ‘the way people work’ and functionality of the structure. Sustainability is one of cornerstones; therefore we ensure that we include designs that promote reuse and recycling. Complex engineering services are delivered without compromising on aesthetics. We strive to ensure that every building we design is a unique architectural landmark and that it symbolizes the corporate identity of the organization.
At A R K, we have designed many offices buildings for public and private sector clients. Some of our benchmark projects are as follows:
Talking Points: Our Challenge: ‘Zero Compromise on usable footprint’
Our Solution: Create circular meeting rooms in frontal and atrium region.
Façade clad with grey coloured transparent glass
Sustainable Architecture achieved using green building standards
Here, we created increased usable space by introducing structural steel girders and creating a column-less useable area.
The service cores were created on either sides of the structure to create a unified glass-cladded workspace.
Talking Points: Challenges facing us were a corner plot with 3 open sides, requirement of a neat, economic and sustainable plan.
Our Solution: A Subtle and Classy design that creates a statement with it’s simplicity and functionality. A Double Height Entrance, Massive Lobby, Terrace Garden, Sculptured Glass Façade and yet a Green Building – Everything in this design makes a corporate statement.
Talking Points: Challenge was to create a structure that reflects authority but at the same time is welcoming. The 2-strorey high granite façade stands for strength and authority and the glass façade
with waves, soft corners and terrace gardens makes the structure appear welcoming. The Atrium boasts of a 40,000 Sq. Ft. landscaped garden that will thrive on natural light that falls from a distinctive skylight. Considering that parking a major concern in BKC, we have created a provision for 600 cars (stackable parking).

Talking Points: Education is no longer restricted by physical boundaries. While working with some of our prestigious clients in this space we have learned that an ‘educational building’ is now conceived as a ‘learning environment’. Having worked in the corporate space, we realize that students today aspire to be corporate leaders and this is the very essence that we have captured in our designs for learning environments. We believe that to ease this transformation from a student to a business leader or corporate employee we need to shape the learning environment to suit students’ needs as well as create a corporate atmosphere. We coupled our designs to support the technological support that this aspiration demands. Attention to detail is very important in architectural designing in general. Right from the placement of power outlets to promoting a healthy social culture, we have tried to strike a chord with the students’ needs.
Talking Points: Our Challenge: To design a building which allows for a flexible learning environment, encourages informal interaction between students and faculity, promote well-being of students while maintaining the sanctity of such premises. Our Design: Incorporates world-class classrooms, open airy learning environments, the central atrium brings in natural light. The first storey is dedicated to organizing cultural activities as well as formal events.
Talking Points: Our Challenge: Meet the rebranding requirements of the Institute. We had to deliver a design which would revamp the brand image and create a more inclusive and adaptable learning environment. At the same time the institute was promoting new courses such as eMBA, MBA-Retail and Innovation Management; these required meeting additional infrastructural needs such as classrooms with telecommunication facilities and ability to host international students and important management event. We met these requirements by providing a gurukul like environment which was open to the sky using a huge sky dome as a skylight and a central open-atrium; a space/store called Spacebar to host products/exhibitions designed by students. A world-class auditorium to host important visitors and graduation ceremonies and cultural events. This auditorium has the ability of telecommunicating as well.
Talking Points: A corporate-standard boardroom was designed by us; this designed was personally appreciate by Mr. Kumaramanagalam Birla.
Talking Points: This design required us to provide a structure nestled in nature’s beauty. We retained the original plantation and built a glass-clad structure which reflects the greenery as well as brings in positive energy into the building. The Challenge was to meet the client requirements in a fairly small construction space
Talking Points: This design required us to provide a structure nestled in nature’s beauty. We retained the original plantation and built a glass-clad structure which reflects the greenery as well as brings in positive energy into the building.
Talking Points: Located in nature’s lap, the IIT-Mumbai Campus boasts of meritorious students and excellence in education. We were fortunate to have acquired this unique project of designing a hostel for the IITians. The requirement was to meet the demands of the current generation and provide comfortable accommodation for approximately 2,000 students. We provided a design solution that includes more than 1,000 rooms in a apartment-studio concept. This concept was provided to permit students their own personal space that remains connected to the main social spaces of the hostel such as a large cafeteria on the ground floor, a common living room for 3 student bedrooms and a pantry/snacking area. We took up the challenge of revamping a dorm-like image of a hostel to a more conducive and feel-at-home environment.
Talking Points: This is a graphic of the interior
Talking Points: Graphic of the buildings as seen today.
Talking Points: In our attempt to venture into some newer segments, we have taken up and completed one hospital project and a medical clinics interior design project on-time. We are working on some more specialty buildings. We proudly showcase these projects in this segment.
Talking Points: Challenges: Client Requirements – Type of speacialty building? ?? ; Column-less Workspace yet an aesthetic façade. We are currently working with the clients to successfully and satisfactorily complete the project.
Talking Points: We design Talwalkars Gymnasium pan-India. We consider that this is a place for total well-being of a person and therefore the design should allow for sufficient space while accommodating all fitness equipments and an energetic atmosphere to work-out.
Talking Points: We pride ourselves in having had many opportunity of designing residential buildings in and around Mumbai. At ARK we believe that a residential project needs special attention on emotional requirements of an individual, since we all have an emotional attachment to our homes and have unique requirements. Having worked in this segment, we have the capability to fulfill such varied requirements.
Talking Points: This project was constructed to house HPCL Officers in 2BHK Apartments. The apartments layout is a in T-Shaped pattern to ensure that light and air flows in from 3 directions into every home.
Talking Points: Nestled along a river and amidst nature's greenery, this township has a unique layout which accommodates the natural vegetation on the plot while allowing space to construct residential apartments.
Talking Points: This is a redevelopment project undertaken for the Canara Bank. The building will house the Bank’s branch on the lower level and plush residential flats at upper levels. These two blocks will be separated by a beautifully landscaped podium.
Talking Points: This project is constructed to house senior executives of IOCL; therefore the architectural detailing and amenities are neat, classy and up-to-date with today’s requirements.
