Families
DNA does not define a family, love does. The average American citizen pictures the reason for adopting a child often negative. This image contains a
man and a woman who cannot have children of their own, a single mother who will be unable to provide for the infant due to her young age, lack of
financial support, or a variety of unfortunate circumstances. Adoption is one of the best options for a family who cannot have a child for whatever
reason. The idea that every person, young or old, deserves a family to support, love and raise them is very important in life. Foster families,
adoptive families and even blended families give children a great opportunity to have a forever family no matter what label is front of family. This
relates to me because I went through different types of alternate families ever since I was a baby. No matter what type of alternate family one is a
part of: a family is a family.
If biological parents decide to give their child away, they can put their child in foster care until a forever family is found. In some cases, biological
parents put children up for adoption for many good reasons. Sometimes biological parents cannot take care of a child for health, financial problems,
or young age. A foster family is defined as a family that provides custody or guardianship for children whose parents are unable to look after them.
Many foster families are temporary and many children go

Essay On Family Identity
Family traditions and cultural legacies contribute to an individual's self–identity because it is the fabric of where he or she derived from, who they are,
and where they're journeying. Cultivating Culture states: "Culture can give people a connection to a certain social values, beliefs, religions and
customs. It allows them to identify with other of similar mindsets and backgrounds. Cultural heritage can provide an automatic sense of unity and
belonging within a group and allows us to better understand previous generations and the history of where we come from." In contrast, traditions and
cultural legacies can also inhibit an individual's self–identity because some families believe in total loyalty to the constructs of the family system.

"Culture the entire way of life of a group of people (including both material and symbolic elements) that acts as a lens through which one views the
world and is passed from one generation to the next." "Although culture may seem to be "second nature" it is something learned, rather than innate.
Because we learn it so slowly and incrementally, we are often unaware of the process. For instance, few of us would be conscious of having
learned all the slang words we currently use or the distance we typically maintain from someone while talking with him/her. We may not remember
exactly when we first felt patriotic or how we formed our opinions about people from the upper class. We all carry culture inside ourselves; it
becomes ingrained and internalized into our way of thinking and acting. Culture guides the way we make sense of the world around us and the way
we make decisions about what to do and how to do it." However those guidelines are not always embraced my every family member, so then the
family traditions and cultural behaviors can become a burden to the family member who wants to branch out and lead a

My Family Structure
I grew up in a nuclear family. There are four people in my family, consists of my father, mother, my sister and me. My father is 62 years old. He's
working as a insurance agent. My mother is 10 years younger than my father. She used to work as a store manager before she gave birth to me. She
quitted her job in order to take care of me and my sister because she believes that the mother daughter bond can grow stronger day by day by
spending time with us. My sisters and I are four years apart. She is currently studying in Tsun Jin Independent School. Even though we fought a lot
growing, got mad at each other, but she is still my one and only sister and that's all that matters. I think is normal for siblings to fight despite the age

I am also aware of my role as a student, studying and doing the best I can to score in my exams so that in the future I may provide a higher living
standard to my family. For my sister, apart from also being a student like myself, she basically carries the role of the helper at home. Unlike myself,
she spends a lot of time at home with mom while I'm out doing assignments and juggling college life. By spending a lot of time at home, she spends
more time with my mom, helping her with house chores. With all these roles, comes rules as well, my parents have always given my sister and I
curfews. It is understandable because of all the crime rates shooting sky high these days, our parents just wants us to be safe. Another important rule
set by my parents is that all family members must have dinner together. This is so that all of us can have our bonding time as a family. Communication
is the knot that ties it all and it is no doubt the most important thing needed in any kind of relationship. For my family, the communication methods that
we practice are pretty much very decent. My parents, after years and years of being together, they can understand each other very well. They can
understand each other without even saying a word, just a face expression would do. My parents communicate differently as compared to when they
communicate with my sister and myself. This is because of the hieratical

Family Relations : Family Relationships Essay
Introduction Family relationships are complicated, even more if it is regarding family business. Negotiations between family members are different
from negotiations between non–family members. The relationships between brothers lead them to stronger sensitivity and loyalty. Family relationships
have developed over years of interacting. Sometimes family members struggle over the appropriate role to play in this negotiation process. There is
increased opportunity for misunderstanding and conflict if negotiation style and approach will be wrong. In the case of family relationships all family
members are affected. Family members' support may be critical for reaching a negotiated outcome. One wants to be winner in any negotiation, but it
does not nessesarily mean that conterpart will lose. There should be right common ground and mutually acceptable outcome. In this essay I will talk
about family conflict negotiation. Brother's relationships will be used as an example in this report. In an age of booming technology, running a
business without computers is like trying to breathe without lungs. Computer system will make business easier. It will help to increase the efficiency
and productivity of work. In this case the negotiation process is about explaining the value of computers to the brother. In this analysis next points will
be considered: Understanding other's needs and motivations Credibility Common ground Joint problem solving Outcome Emotions and basic instincts

Essay on My Family History
My Family History
Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have a better perspective of your life. Having a clear
understanding of your family background allows you to better appreciate the things that you would normally take for granted. The house, the car, and
the average clothing may look better when one sees the sacrifices their family has made. They will see that their family has worked very hard just so
their family can experience the better things in life. A persons roots and origin is one of the most important things to explore. It alone can bring you
closer to self–discovery.

One of these is that on Thanksgiving everybody comes together to my parents' house in New Jersey for a huge feast. On Christmas only my mother and
the children (me and my brother) travel to Illinois to spend a week with my grandparents. On New Years Eve we all get together at my parents'
house in New Jersey and toast to the New Year with champagne and apple cider. During Labor Day weekend all of my family travels to South
Jersey to my grandfathers' condo. We usually spend all of our time on the beach and barbequing, except on Sunday when we go to church. After
all, my grandfather is a minister. One of our biggest family traditions is going back to Puerto Rico. Every year my mother and I travel back to
Puerto Rico for a portion of our summer vacation. Now that I am older I travel there more often and stay there much longer. My father never joins
because he doesn't like my mothers side of the father too much and he thinks that we when we speak Spanish we are all plotting against him. Of
course that's not true though. My bother doesn't speak Spanish so he doesn't like to go either. I guess that tradition is one that belongs solely to my
mother and I.
The role of the people in family basically stayed the same for most of the generations with a little change in the later generations. Earlier the males
were the only ones that worked in the family and the wife stayed at home and took care of the house and

Family Systems and Healthy Development
Liberty University
Family Systems and Healthy Development In today's world, families are dynamic and interdependent systems. The developmental processes of the
children in the family are deeply affected by how the family system operates. However, a family's structure does not determine whether it is a healthy
family system or not. Today, families consist of single parents, stepparents, divorced parents, remarried parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. They
are all able to contribute to a healthy functioning family system by meeting each family member's needs and encouraging positive communication
(Jamiolkowski, 2008). Unhealthy family systems have negative and possibly...show more content...
A healthy family system makes a child feel cared for, validated and valued.
Supportive parenting is a term used to describe parents whose authoritative parenting style is firm, with clear and consistent limits, but with warmth,
proactive teaching, interest and involvement in their child's peer activities, as well as calm discussions while disciplining. Authoritative parents tend to
be firm and set clear and consistent limits. Although strict, they are loving and supportive, and communicate to the child the rationale for their
punishment, along with an explanation for why they should behave a certain way. This encourages independence in the child (Feldman, 2014).
Research has shown that healthy friendships in which close ties emerge are developed when parents provide a warm and supportive home environment
(Feldman, 2014). Children emulate positive social interactions and roles, which they learn from the adults in their lives who they model after. Children
living in healthy family systems develop a strong and positive relationship with their parents or caregiver and will encourage positive relationships with
others.
Unhealthy Family Systems
The parenting style in the home will result in differences in the children's behavior. For example, an authoritarian parent is controlling, punitive and
strict. Their rules are not flexible and do not tolerate expressions of disagreement. These

of love, affection, care, truthfulness and self–confidence and provides us tools and suggestions which are necessary to get success in life.
Family is a place where you can be yourself. It is a place where you are accepted for what you are. This is where you are completely tension free and

Psychologists believe that a child learns the most from his or her family life. The way your family members deal with you has a life long effect on
your personality. Keeping in view all these facts the importance of your family life cannot be denied. Family unit happens to be the most important
part of your life till you grow up. The children are usually closer to their parents and their siblings as compared to any other person in the world. As
the children grow up they find good friends, spouses, their own kids and colleagues to share their lives with. Although time brings this change but the
importance of family remains there. The children who have a sound family background and who belong to a family with strong family ties are almost
always happier. Thus one cannot deny the importance of family life.
The life with your family is very important it plays a major role in your development into the person you become. The goals you set for yourself in
your life are very much dependent on the life you have with your family. Those children who belong to the families which have a rich education
background tend to learn more. They are interested in learning more and thus it is easy for their parents to get them educated. Similarly, for example,
children who belong to a family from which a few of the people are in the field of professional sports, the kids tend to have an interest in sports and

Intro: "Family is the key to happiness." It is where life begins and love never ends. However, a family is not a family without complications. Your
family is like the roots that sprout deep within you that contain your feelings, heart, and soul.
Event 1: Everything started when I was 14 months old. My parents were going through a brutal divorce. While my mom was watching me, I kicked
her and she bent my leg backwards and accidently broke it. Since then she has left and had three more kids, that makes 6 of us. Dustin, Katelynn, me,

their souls, and their determination to be successful and goodness. Everyone has always told me, "You see the good in the people over the bad, you do
things through your heart and not your brain, you just can't see the bad in people." Which makes me a highly emotional person if you think about it.
Event 3: Everyone here in Tennessee always thinks I only have onesibling and one parent; However, that is not completely true. Truth is I have five

What Is A Family? Essay
For most of us, the family is considered as a well–known and comfortable institution. The perfect model of the 'ideal' family is still mostly considered
to be consisted from two different sexes' parents, and one or more children. Until quite recently, the sociology of the family was mostly functionalist
and just in the last few decades has been challenged from various directions. There are many different definitions about what the family is. Different
theoretical positions influence these variations. For example, the functionalist sociologist George Peter Murdock defines the family as "a social group
characterized by common residence, economic co–operation and reproduction. It includes adults of both sexes, at least two of whom maintain...show

An early functionalist George Murdock argued that the family plays the main role in the society by performing three main functions– пЃ¶Stabilisation
of the sexual behaviour and reproduction. пЃ¶Providing the basic economic requirements. пЃ¶Serving the function of socialisation of the next
generation. G. Murdock claimed that without family serving these three functions the society would disappear. He considered these functions as
universal, although he agreed that they could develop. Talcott Parsons argues this statement, by saying, that there are two broad functions of the
family– primary socialisation and stabilisation of the adult personality 'throughout the emotional security, including sexual expression, provided by
marriage' (O'Donnell, 1997). In these days, when society is changing, the functionalistic statements lose their strength. For example, the sex outside
the marriage, in these days of easily available contraception, is no more the taboo. Margaret Mead argues Murdock's and Parsons imply that nuclear
family is biologically necessary and natural. She stated that the nuclear family is based on culture, not biology. Marxist views on the family Marxists
have very critical view of the family and society. They adopt a structural perspective, but put it in the class nature of the society. The starting point for
the most Marxist analyses of gender and the family is Friedrich Engels' (1820–1895) The Origin of the

Essay on My Family's Ancestry
Gathering research about my family and its history turned out to be an interesting and insightful opportunity, through which I learned much more than
I expected. When I started this project, I knew that I would not be able to find as much useful information on the Internet as some of my peers. In
effect, I realized that I would have to rely on other primary resources such as my parents and grandparents to reveal the story of my ancestry to me.
After I had interviewed them, my family history became much clearer to me. More than 2 millennia ago, around the 3rd century BC, a group of
Tamil–speaking people from present–day South India migrated to the nearby island of Sri Lanka. Among these people, known today as "Sri Lankan

island. The climate of the region allows for many crops to be grown including many varieties of fruits and vegetables.
While interviewing my parents and grandparents, I learned about many customs and aspects of the Sri Lankan Tamil culture. Sri Lankan Tamils are
devotees of the Shaiva sect of Hinduism, mainly worshipping the lord Shiva. The three main cultural festivals celebrated in the area are Thai Pongal
(beginning of the harvest), Chittrai Pongal (Tamil New Year), and Deepavali (Hindu Festival of Lights). In addition, pujas (religious rituals) are
performed for different occasions, such as the death day of an ancestor or the celebration of a certain Hindu deity. It was also a custom to ask the
village astrologer for advice on certain decisions, such as the name of a newborn child.
Paternal Great–Grandparents In the early 1900's, Kadirasaipillai and Vairavipillai Kandappar, my paternal grandmother's parents, were born in the
village of Puloly, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. They were both born into families of the Vellalar caste of Tamil society and went to school at Puttalai

Definition Essay On Family
When you hear the word family, what are the thoughts come to your head? Maybe words such as blood, loving, nurturing; or even in some rare cases,
overbearing, ashamed, and disgraceful. We all have a different perspective of what family means to us, but a common trend that most families exhibit
is that a family is a unit of protection, a support system and that every family has its flaws.
For most, "family is always first and forever" and we will do anything to protect them. If we see a family member down or hurt, it is the natural instinct
to want to jump in and protect your own. Animals and humans alike are very protective of their own kind, especially their children. For instance, a
mother kangaroo carries her Joey in her pouch to shield him from the dangers of the wild until the Joey is ready to protect themselves on their own.
The same applies to human families as well. If something were...show more content...
For instance, during 9/11, which was a major crisis for the United States, many people were devastated because they had just lost someone close to
them. Many people turned to each other for comfort and support in one of their lowest times and we were able to rise up see strength through unity,
even at a moment as dark as that one. Another example of this is that we rather turn to someone we know and receive financial assistance, instead of
someone else, which would usually result in us not asking for the help. Our family members are usually the ones who help us out in desperate times.
For instance, I had an aunt who needed help purchasing equipment to successfully complete her house back home in Jamaica, and us being a family,
of course, stepped in to help her. My mother was able to step in, be as helpful as she could and gave her the money for her to complete her home, all

Reflection on Family
Family Reflection
"No one is ever born into Life alone. Everyone has shared the bond of family, at least at birth, and for many people it is a bond that will follow them
throughout life. For many people it is the most important bond of all."
Family means many things to different people, yet the word itself can bring about a host of emotions from anyone who hears the word uttered. As a
child growing up in the 60s and 70s the family dynamic was defined by the people we grew up with were related to by blood, and extended to the many
family members of the different generations that made up the family unit.
I have fond memories of growing up with love and compassion, by the people who I was surrounded with. The feeling of...show more content...
The people may be different, but, the bonds will grow and develop in our existence.
I remember the feeling of completeness and security I had growing up with my mom, dad, grandparents, and extended family members. I always
felt like I belonged and was accepted for me. People are not perfect, sometimes in actions and words, but, knowing the unconditional love that we
are surrounded with by our families keeps us grounded in our true selves. Now that I am older, I feel the same security that I experienced while
growing up. A familiarity of comfort that brings me to a place of peace and security. My own comfort zone where I am loved, happy, cared for and
needed.
A family can be defined in many ways, but the common denominator in all is the love and fulfillment one gets by being surrounded by family
members. Families can sometimes be at odds with each other, but the strain of this type of relationship usually creates an upsetting feeling to the
people involved. People want others to rely on, talk to, do things with, share, love, embrace, and be part of. No matter what the family dynamic is the
qualities the word family has will remain the same, as time goes by, and life evolves once again for every person living their

Family Defined
The word family has changed so much in the past century. A family back in the 1950's was probably considered a husband, wife, and one or more
children. Times have changed and families have become much different. The Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others book definesfamily as
a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time in a common living space who are usually, but not
always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe, Beebe & Redmond, 243). Families can be broken up into five different types. The first is the

genealogy nut in our family. She has searched for birthdates, marriage licenses, and other documents of her grandparents. I called grandma Lo to get

How Families Influence Child Development Essay
Family is an essential part of everyone's development. A family can determine who you are going to be and your family values determine what your
relationship with others will be like. If a family is dysfunctional or abusive it can emotionally scar an individual. Through time family values have been
changed and lost. Instead of family togetherness and talking with each other, families now go on their separate ways. Examples, most families today
don't eat dinner together or partake in group activities. Our society thrives on independence and doing things on our own but has this changed the way
people see the family. The most common comparison is the 1950's to the 2000's of today. This is good comparison because the 50's was the time when

One example of a family would be the dad going to work and the mom staying home to take care of the house. This always showed the kids that
there was one parent always there for help, with HW or to have a snack prepared after school. One thing the 50's were known for were their family
dinners that everyone in the household was there for. The family had outings and talked about issues they were having. One thing teens valued was
the ability to speak to their parents about things they wanted to know. In today's society family isn't as important parents try to have that 50's family
lifestyle but with busy schedules parents' working late and not having enough time, family togetherness is difficult. We today don't put as much value
in our family togetherness because some families aren't traditional. Many families are families with one parent mostly single mothers. This makes it
hard because when it's a single parent then they have to work later in order to make ends meet. Also the things that are on TV aren't very appropriate
and from a young age kids are seeing things that they normally shouldn't. How can we protect children from TV or from the media when it's all
around them? With new technology and new ways to get information things have become more difficult to sensor what kids see and with the new idea
that sex sells family values have been put in jeopardy. Although the 50's had impact in how the family atmosphere should be some things were wrong
and over the top.

Characteristics Of My Family Essay
Family is a truly special thing. Essentially, what makes a family so unique is that unification of a group of individuals with so many variant
characteristics. In fact, each and every one of our unique relatives, in their own individual way, contributes to that extraordinary bond that families
share. Our blood may define family, but it's those unique relationships: like the one with the controlling grandmother, that crazy aunt, or even that
inappropriately laid back uncle, that genuinely gives family a special sense of belonging. Every single family has a head, an alpha male or
female. This individual tends to believe the universe revolves around them, and that they resemble absolute royalty when compared to the rest of
the family. In my case, this is my grandma Rosaura. The fact is, that she is the oldest, most experienced person in our family. Correspondingly, she
is praised by the entire family as well as looked up to for guidance because of her " extensive knowledge". In fact, she was a very successful lawyer
who was able to raise four children by herself; two characteristics of my grandmother's life which she would never let us forget. Thus, emphasizing
herself as the epitome of what you would call "a woman who don't need no man". Furthermore, because of her position in the family, she's also
developed some very interesting traits over time. To begin with, she's extremely controlling and authoritarian. My mother is 46 and my grandma still

My Family Essay
No one can't meet a family like mine's. My family is well diversified. Every family member plays an important role in all my family's lives. In my
family, there are four people: my father, my mother, my little brother and me. My father is one who brings money home and is also responsible for
organizing and planning family trips. My mother is the one who is in charge for making meals and makes sure everyone eats at the appropriate times.
My little brother is the pet of the family. He actually doesn't have any responsibilities, for he's the pet. I am the rock of support in my family. I always
go beyond my parents' expectations. I also support my younger cousins and little brother, by being a role model that they can look up to. Another...show

Doing what my parents tell me to do is just one of many reasons why I am a rock of support for my family. Not only do I support my parents, but I
also support my younger cousins and brother. As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are
numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing advice on making the right choices. For example my
brother had a problem at school with one of his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent approach. I
told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how
violence is the answer to anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get out of hand, I told him to
let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking
through with each other. I also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in a while. They come
over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I
play various sports and activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I am also known for being there

Argumentative Essay On Family

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Family Vika Zelazny Prof. Rice English composition 1 26 September 2017 Families DNA does not define a family, love does. The average American citizen pictures the reason for adopting a child often negative. This image contains a man and a woman who cannot have children of their own, a single mother who will be unable to provide for the infant due to her young age, lack of financial support, or a variety of unfortunate circumstances. Adoption is one of the best options for a family who cannot have a child for whatever reason. The idea that every person, young or old, deserves a family to support, love and raise them is very important in life. Foster families, adoptive families and even blended families give children a great opportunity to have a forever family no matter what label is front of family. This relates to me because I went through different types of alternate families ever since I was a baby. No matter what type of alternate family one is a part of: a family is a family. If biological parents decide to give their child away, they can put their child in foster care until a forever family is found. In some cases, biological parents put children up for adoption for many good reasons. Sometimes biological parents cannot take care of a child for health, financial problems, or young age. A foster family is defined as a family that provides custody or guardianship for children whose parents are unable to look after them. Many foster families are temporary and many children go Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay On Family Identity Family traditions and cultural legacies contribute to an individual's self–identity because it is the fabric of where he or she derived from, who they are, and where they're journeying. Cultivating Culture states: "Culture can give people a connection to a certain social values, beliefs, religions and customs. It allows them to identify with other of similar mindsets and backgrounds. Cultural heritage can provide an automatic sense of unity and belonging within a group and allows us to better understand previous generations and the history of where we come from." In contrast, traditions and cultural legacies can also inhibit an individual's self–identity because some families believe in total loyalty to the constructs of the family system. ...show more content... Because of Dee or Wangero disdaining of herculture, she will wander aimlessly in where she fits in this world, not knowing if she is Dee Johnson a woman of a strong descent or Wangero Leewanika Kemanjo a woman of a style popular for the moment. "Culture the entire way of life of a group of people (including both material and symbolic elements) that acts as a lens through which one views the world and is passed from one generation to the next." "Although culture may seem to be "second nature" it is something learned, rather than innate. Because we learn it so slowly and incrementally, we are often unaware of the process. For instance, few of us would be conscious of having learned all the slang words we currently use or the distance we typically maintain from someone while talking with him/her. We may not remember exactly when we first felt patriotic or how we formed our opinions about people from the upper class. We all carry culture inside ourselves; it becomes ingrained and internalized into our way of thinking and acting. Culture guides the way we make sense of the world around us and the way we make decisions about what to do and how to do it." However those guidelines are not always embraced my every family member, so then the family traditions and cultural behaviors can become a burden to the family member who wants to branch out and lead a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

He's working as a insurance agent. My mother is 10 years younger than my father. She used to work as a store manager before she gave birth to me. She quitted her job in order to take care of me and my sister because she believes that the mother daughter bond can grow stronger day by day by spending time with us. My sisters and I are four years apart. She is currently studying in Tsun Jin Independent School. I am also aware of my role as a student, studying and doing the best I can to score in my exams so that in the future I may provide a higher living standard to my family. For my sister, apart from also being a student like myself, she basically carries the role of the helper at home. Unlike myself, she spends a lot of time at home with mom while I'm out doing assignments and juggling college life. By spending a lot of time at home, she spends more time with my mom, helping her with house chores. With all these roles, comes rules as well, my parents have always given my sister and I curfews. It is understandable because of all the crime rates shooting sky high these days, our parents just wants us to be safe. Another important rule set by my parents is that all family members must have dinner together. This is so that all of us can have our bonding time as a family. Communication is the knot that ties it all and it is no doubt the most important thing needed in any kind of relationship. For my family, the communication methods that we practice are pretty much very decent. My parents, after years and years of being together, they can understand each other very well. They can understand each other without even saying a word, just a face expression would do. My parents communicate differently as compared to when they communicate with my sister and myself. This is because of the hieratical Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Family Relations : Family Relationships Essay Introduction Family relationships are complicated, even more if it is regarding family business. Negotiations between family members are different from negotiations between non–family members. The relationships between brothers lead them to stronger sensitivity and loyalty. Family relationships have developed over years of interacting. Sometimes family members struggle over the appropriate role to play in this negotiation process. There is increased opportunity for misunderstanding and conflict if negotiation style and approach will be wrong. In the case of family relationships all family members are affected. Family members' support may be critical for reaching a negotiated outcome. One wants to be winner in any negotiation, but it does not nessesarily mean that conterpart will lose. There should be right common ground and mutually acceptable outcome. In this essay I will talk about family conflict negotiation. Brother's relationships will be used as an example in this report. In an age of booming technology, running a business without computers is like trying to breathe without lungs. Computer system will make business easier. It will help to increase the efficiency and productivity of work. In this case the negotiation process is about explaining the value of computers to the brother. In this analysis next points will be considered: Understanding other's needs and motivations Credibility Common ground Joint problem solving Outcome Emotions and basic instincts These Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Having a clear understanding of your family background allows you to better appreciate the things that you would normally take for granted. The house, the car, and the average clothing may look better when one sees the sacrifices their family has made. They will see that their family has worked very hard just so their family can experience the better things in life. A persons roots and origin is one of the most important things to explore. During Labor Day weekend all of my family travels to South Jersey to my grandfathers' condo. We usually spend all of our time on the beach and barbequing, except on Sunday when we go to church. After all, my grandfather is a minister. One of our biggest family traditions is going back to Puerto Rico. Every year my mother and I travel back to Puerto Rico for a portion of our summer vacation. Now that I am older I travel there more often and stay there much longer. My father never joins because he doesn't like my mothers side of the father too much and he thinks that we when we speak Spanish we are all plotting against him. Of course that's not true though. My bother doesn't speak Spanish so he doesn't like to go either. I guess that tradition is one that belongs solely to my mother and I. The developmental processes of the children in the family are deeply affected by how the family system operates. However, a family's structure does not determine whether it is a healthy family system or not. Today, families consist of single parents, stepparents, divorced parents, remarried parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. They are all able to contribute to a healthy functioning family system by meeting each family member's needs and encouraging positive communication (Jamiolkowski, 2008). Supportive parenting is a term used to describe parents whose authoritative parenting style is firm, with clear and consistent limits, but with warmth, proactive teaching, interest and involvement in their child's peer activities, as well as calm discussions while disciplining. Authoritative parents tend to be firm and set clear and consistent limits. Although strict, they are loving and supportive, and communicate to the child the rationale for their punishment, along with an explanation for why they should behave a certain way. This encourages independence in the child (Feldman, 2014). Research has shown that healthy friendships in which close ties emerge are developed when parents provide a warm and supportive home environment (Feldman, 2014). Children emulate positive social interactions and roles, which they learn from the adults in their lives who they model after. Children living in healthy family systems develop a strong and positive relationship with their parents or caregiver and will encourage positive relationships with others. Unhealthy Family Systems The parenting style in the home will result in differences in the children's behavior. For example, an authoritarian parent is controlling, punitive and strict. Their rules are not flexible and do not tolerate expressions of disagreement. These Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 9. Informative Speech On Family Intro: "Family is the key to happiness." It is where life begins and love never ends. However, a family is not a family without complications. Your family is like the roots that sprout deep within you that contain your feelings, heart, and soul. Event 1: Everything started when I was 14 months old. My parents were going through a brutal divorce. While my mom was watching me, I kicked her and she bent my leg backwards and accidently broke it. Since then she has left and had three more kids, that makes 6 of us. Dustin, Katelynn, me, Taytum, Isabella, and Hudson still remain motherless, some more than others. She does see the last 3 of us more than my sister and I but that just due to our living conditions. My grandmother told me for the...show more content... All throughout my life, I have been judged and bullied for who I am and who I hang out with, but I see so much more in people than their popularity and money, I see their heart, their souls, and their determination to be successful and goodness. Everyone has always told me, "You see the good in the people over the bad, you do things through your heart and not your brain, you just can't see the bad in people." Which makes me a highly emotional person if you think about it. Event 3: Everyone here in Tennessee always thinks I only have onesibling and one parent; However, that is not completely true. Truth is I have five siblings, so that makes six of us! Four live in Texas with their grandparents or aunts because my mom never could keep custody of her children I guess. Katelynn, lives in Tennessee in Downtown Chattanooga, she recently moved out and is currently 19. She has always been the one there for me even though she can be a complete brat. • 10. What Is A Family? Essay For most of us, the family is considered as a well–known and comfortable institution. The perfect model of the 'ideal' family is still mostly considered to be consisted from two different sexes' parents, and one or more children. Until quite recently, the sociology of the family was mostly functionalist and just in the last few decades has been challenged from various directions. There are many different definitions about what the family is. Different theoretical positions influence these variations. For example, the functionalist sociologist George Peter Murdock defines the family as "a social group characterized by common residence, economic co–operation and reproduction. It includes adults of both sexes, at least two of whom maintain...show more content... An early functionalist George Murdock argued that the family plays the main role in the society by performing three main functions– пЃ¶Stabilisation of the sexual behaviour and reproduction. пЃ¶Providing the basic economic requirements. пЃ¶Serving the function of socialisation of the next generation. G. Murdock claimed that without family serving these three functions the society would disappear. He considered these functions as universal, although he agreed that they could develop. Talcott Parsons argues this statement, by saying, that there are two broad functions of the family– primary socialisation and stabilisation of the adult personality 'throughout the emotional security, including sexual expression, provided by marriage' (O'Donnell, 1997). In these days, when society is changing, the functionalistic statements lose their strength. For example, the sex outside the marriage, in these days of easily available contraception, is no more the taboo. Margaret Mead argues Murdock's and Parsons imply that nuclear family is biologically necessary and natural. She stated that the nuclear family is based on culture, not biology. Marxist views on the family Marxists have very critical view of the family and society. They adopt a structural perspective, but put it in the class nature of the society. The starting point for the most Marxist analyses of gender and the family is Friedrich Engels' (1820–1895) The Origin of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay on My Family's Ancestry Gathering research about my family and its history turned out to be an interesting and insightful opportunity, through which I learned much more than I expected. When I started this project, I knew that I would not be able to find as much useful information on the Internet as some of my peers. In effect, I realized that I would have to rely on other primary resources such as my parents and grandparents to reveal the story of my ancestry to me. After I had interviewed them, my family history became much clearer to me. More than 2 millennia ago, around the 3rd century BC, a group of Tamil–speaking people from present–day South India migrated to the nearby island of Sri Lanka. Among these people, known today as "Sri Lankan Tamils", are my...show more content... The Peninsula has a hot, monsoonal tropical climate characterized by a dry season from February to October and a wet season from October to January. Because of the monsoons, the region is humid and averages three feet of rain each year, which is relatively low compared to the rest of the island. The climate of the region allows for many crops to be grown including many varieties of fruits and vegetables. While interviewing my parents and grandparents, I learned about many customs and aspects of the Sri Lankan Tamil culture. Sri Lankan Tamils are devotees of the Shaiva sect of Hinduism, mainly worshipping the lord Shiva. The three main cultural festivals celebrated in the area are Thai Pongal (beginning of the harvest), Chittrai Pongal (Tamil New Year), and Deepavali (Hindu Festival of Lights). In addition, pujas (religious rituals) are performed for different occasions, such as the death day of an ancestor or the celebration of a certain Hindu deity. It was also a custom to ask the village astrologer for advice on certain decisions, such as the name of a newborn child. Paternal Great–Grandparents In the early 1900's, Kadirasaipillai and Vairavipillai Kandappar, my paternal grandmother's parents, were born in the village of Puloly, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. They were both born into families of the Vellalar caste of Tamil society and went to school at Puttalai Vidhyalayam, the only schooling option Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Definition Essay On Family When you hear the word family, what are the thoughts come to your head? Maybe words such as blood, loving, nurturing; or even in some rare cases, overbearing, ashamed, and disgraceful. We all have a different perspective of what family means to us, but a common trend that most families exhibit is that a family is a unit of protection, a support system and that every family has its flaws. For most, "family is always first and forever" and we will do anything to protect them. If we see a family member down or hurt, it is the natural instinct to want to jump in and protect your own. Animals and humans alike are very protective of their own kind, especially their children. For instance, a mother kangaroo carries her Joey in her pouch to shield him from the dangers of the wild until the Joey is ready to protect themselves on their own. The same applies to human families as well. If something were...show more content... Many people turned to each other for comfort and support in one of their lowest times and we were able to rise up see strength through unity, even at a moment as dark as that one. Another example of this is that we rather turn to someone we know and receive financial assistance, instead of someone else, which would usually result in us not asking for the help. Our family members are usually the ones who help us out in desperate times. For instance, I had an aunt who needed help purchasing equipment to successfully complete her house back home in Jamaica, and us being a family, of course, stepped in to help her. My mother was able to step in, be as helpful as she could and gave her the money for her to complete her home, all the way back home in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Reflection on Family Family Reflection "No one is ever born into Life alone. Everyone has shared the bond of family, at least at birth, and for many people it is a bond that will follow them throughout life. For many people it is the most important bond of all." Family means many things to different people, yet the word itself can bring about a host of emotions from anyone who hears the word uttered. As a child growing up in the 60s and 70s the family dynamic was defined by the people we grew up with were related to by blood, and extended to the many family members of the different generations that made up the family unit. The people may be different, but, the bonds will grow and develop in our existence. I remember the feeling of completeness and security I had growing up with my mom, dad, grandparents, and extended family members. I always felt like I belonged and was accepted for me. People are not perfect, sometimes in actions and words, but, knowing the unconditional love that we are surrounded with by our families keeps us grounded in our true selves. Now that I am older, I feel the same security that I experienced while growing up. A familiarity of comfort that brings me to a place of peace and security. My own comfort zone where I am loved, happy, cared for and needed. A family can be defined in many ways, but the common denominator in all is the love and fulfillment one gets by being surrounded by family members. Families can sometimes be at odds with each other, but the strain of this type of relationship usually creates an upsetting feeling to the people involved. People want others to rely on, talk to, do things with, share, love, embrace, and be part of. No matter what the family dynamic is the qualities the word family has will remain the same, as time goes by, and life evolves once again for every person living their Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Some people see it as a tough thing to deal with and I see it as a blessing for my parents, my brothers, and myself to be unique in this way, and we have always been a religious family so we definitely believe that each one of us kids was a blessing to our parents. The sacrifice that they make everyday when the go to work to support four kids who they never owed anything, never had to call themselves our parents, but they took us in and called us their own and they are angels walking, for the wonderful impact they have had on the lives of me and my brothers. We all grow up wanting the perfect family, the perfect parents, perfect house, perfect siblings, and to top it off, the white picket fence that surrounds the house. Then life sets in and you realize that life is not all rainbows and unicorns. The people in our life and the environment that we grow up in, is what shapes us to the person we are today. Factors that influence how we are as a person are our family, parents, and society. I come from a family that is hard to describe. My mother is my biggest influencer and supporter and I will be forever grateful that I have such a great mom. Society today is a huge influential part in everyone's life. Others may say that they are their own person and that no one has affected who they are as a person because they are, "their own person," but society affects everyone to what they wear, what music they listen to, how they behave, and many other things. Society has influenced me to stand up for others and to be a voice for those who are too scared to share theirs. A family back in the 1950's was probably considered a husband, wife, and one or more children. Times have changed and families have become much different. The Interpersonal Communication: Relating to Others book definesfamily as a, "Unit made up of any number of persons who live in relationship with one another over time in a common living space who are usually, but not always, united by marriage and kinship" (Beebe, Beebe & Redmond, 243). • 18. How Families Influence Child Development Essay Family is an essential part of everyone's development. A family can determine who you are going to be and your family values determine what your relationship with others will be like. If a family is dysfunctional or abusive it can emotionally scar an individual. Through time family values have been changed and lost. Instead of family togetherness and talking with each other, families now go on their separate ways. Examples, most families today don't eat dinner together or partake in group activities. Our society thrives on independence and doing things on our own but has this changed the way people see the family. The most common comparison is the 1950's to the 2000's of today. This is good comparison because the 50's was the time when ...show more content... One example of a family would be the dad going to work and the mom staying home to take care of the house. This always showed the kids that there was one parent always there for help, with HW or to have a snack prepared after school. One thing the 50's were known for were their family dinners that everyone in the household was there for. The family had outings and talked about issues they were having. One thing teens valued was the ability to speak to their parents about things they wanted to know. In today's society family isn't as important parents try to have that 50's family lifestyle but with busy schedules parents' working late and not having enough time, family togetherness is difficult. We today don't put as much value in our family togetherness because some families aren't traditional. Many families are families with one parent mostly single mothers. This makes it hard because when it's a single parent then they have to work later in order to make ends meet. Also the things that are on TV aren't very appropriate and from a young age kids are seeing things that they normally shouldn't. How can we protect children from TV or from the media when it's all around them? With new technology and new ways to get information things have become more difficult to sensor what kids see and with the new idea that sex sells family values have been put in jeopardy. Although the 50's had impact in how the family atmosphere should be some things were wrong and over the top. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Characteristics Of My Family Essay Family is a truly special thing. Essentially, what makes a family so unique is that unification of a group of individuals with so many variant characteristics. In fact, each and every one of our unique relatives, in their own individual way, contributes to that extraordinary bond that families share. Our blood may define family, but it's those unique relationships: like the one with the controlling grandmother, that crazy aunt, or even that inappropriately laid back uncle, that genuinely gives family a special sense of belonging. Every single family has a head, an alpha male or female. This individual tends to believe the universe revolves around them, and that they resemble absolute royalty when compared to the rest of the family. In my case, this is my grandma Rosaura. The fact is, that she is the oldest, most experienced person in our family. Correspondingly, she is praised by the entire family as well as looked up to for guidance because of her " extensive knowledge". In fact, she was a very successful lawyer who was able to raise four children by herself; two characteristics of my grandmother's life which she would never let us forget. Thus, emphasizing herself as the epitome of what you would call "a woman who don't need no man". Furthermore, because of her position in the family, she's also developed some very interesting traits over time. To begin with, she's extremely controlling and authoritarian. As an eldest brother and cousin, I feel I must be a good example for the young ones. There are numerous methods of showing my cousins and brother support. One main way is by providing advice on making the right choices. For example my brother had a problem at school with one of his classmates. As a mature and responsible older brother, I advised him to use the non–violent approach. I told him to go discuss the problem and try to resolve it peacefully. My brother then asked me why he shouldn't fight his classmate. I explained how violence is the answer to anything. I advised him to first talk to his classmate in a professional manner. If then things get out of hand, I told him to let the teacher know the situation. In the end, my brother didn't need to get the teacher involved. In fact, their conflict was resolved by talking through with each other. I also am very supportive of my little cousins. One way I help them out is by tutoring them once in a while. They come over to my house and I assist them with their school work. Not only I help my cousins with their homework, but I also support them recreationally. I play various sports and activities with them. As their older cousin/brother, I feel I should be a good role model to follow. I am also known for being there Get more content on HelpWriting.net
