Argumentative Essay Example On Abortion
Writing an argumentative essay on the topic of abortion can be a challenging endeavor that
requires careful research, thoughtful analysis, and the ability to present a well-structured and
convincing argument. The subject of abortion is highly controversial and emotionally charged,
making it essential for the writer to navigate through various perspectives with sensitivity and
objectivity.
One of the primary difficulties in crafting such an essay is the need to address the ethical, moral,
and legal aspects surrounding abortion. The writer must delve into the complex and nuanced
nature of the topic, considering both pro-life and pro-choice arguments while maintaining a
balanced and respectful tone. It requires a deep understanding of the historical context, cultural
differences, and diverse beliefs that contribute to the complexity of the abortion debate.
Researching credible sources is crucial to building a strong foundation for the argument. It
involves sifting through a myriad of studies, legal documents, ethical frameworks, and personal
narratives to support the chosen stance. Additionally, presenting accurate and up-to-date
information is essential in providing a comprehensive overview of the subject matter.
Another challenge lies in crafting a compelling thesis statement that clearly articulates the writer's
position on the issue. The thesis should be specific, debatable, and reflective of the main
argument presented in the essay. Developing a coherent and logical structure is also essential, as
it helps to guide the reader through the different aspects of the argument, leading to a well-
supported conclusion.
Furthermore, maintaining a neutral and respectful tone is critical, as abortion is a deeply personal
and sensitive topic. Striking the right balance between empathy and objectivity is challenging but
necessary to engage readers from diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
In conclusion, writing an argumentative essay on the topic of abortion demands thorough
research, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of the subject. Navigating through the
complexities and controversies surrounding abortion requires a careful and respectful approach.
While challenging, it provides an opportunity for writers to hone their analytical and persuasive
skills, contributing to a more informed and empathetic discourse on this important issue.

Magical Realism In Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Kids taken from mothers, people stripped of their cultures, and families separated.
Latin American people have gone through burdens unimaginable to other, more
developed, countries around the world. Latin America has a very distinct culture, but
that culture was stripped from the people and replaced with another culture. Latin
Americas diverse culture shows in its use of magical realism and their intriguing
ways of telling history. Magical realism is used to represent the mistreated figures
and atrocious leaders in their literature. One of these writers is Gabriel Garcia
Marquez. Born in Aracataca, Colombia this latino writer used magical realism in
his stories to represent the conditions in Latin America. He uses characters in his
stories to represent Latin America and how the countries people are treated.
Gabriel originally went to school to be a lawyer, but later gave that up to be a
journalist. His short stories and inspirational speeches were awarded the Nobel Prize
of Literature and the International Literature Award. Although Latin America was
beaten down, they still persevered. They gained their independence and started to
become the great country they once were. Like Gabriel said in his speech, The
Solitude of Latin America, Nevertheless, in the face of oppression, pillage, and
abandonment, our reply is life. This tells us that Latin America, in the face of defeat,
rises and comes back twice as strong. The constant oppression of their people and the

O.J. Simpson Trial
The O.J Simpson trial went down in history as one of the most televise trial in
American history. With 24 hour new coverage the trial attracted a multitude of
audience. The trial had a lot of marketing opportunities. Whether it be from selling
stories or T.V appearance, there was money to be made. Media reporters took every
opportunity to bring in audience with hot debates on whether he did it or not. The
case was televising for 134 days on television and trial took more than 8 months.

Simpson. When it takes six months to make a case, the jury is going to be left with a
lot questionable thoughts. The jury will feel as if the evidence is too much or
clearly the fact it has no substance. If you re stalling every day to make a case
appear to be what it isn t, chances are they will feel as if you re trying too hard. That
s the impression that the jury got left with.
The prosecutors had a mountain of evidence. Many questioned how can OJ
explain the blood on the gate or the blood on the socks? It was a case with a lot of
DNA evidence. This case was in favor of the prosecutors, which they could have
easily won if they hadn t made so many mistakes. the prosecutors started a trial on
murder charges and ended up showing how OJ did might have been motivated to do
the murder. In the eyes of the public this could look like character assassination,
especially in the black committee.
Another thing that went wrong was the prosecutor s witnesses began to sell their
stories to the media, and book deals. When this happens lawyers call these cash for
trash . Cash for trash is known witnesses who sell their testimony for money and is
usually not credible anymore. With the case attracting so much media attention the
witnesses in the eyes of the jury could say anything for money. That s why the
defense took shots at the witnesses by questioning their
Examples Of A Gift Etiquette
Sympathy Gift Etiquette
When someone close to you loses a friend or family member, it can be difficult to
know the best way to offer support. Many questions come up: how can we help?
What should we do?
Many people traditionally send flowers, plants, and fruit baskets. This is thoughtful
and shows you care. On the other hand, when my sister experienced a death in her
family last year, she became overwhelmed with what to do with all of the flowers
that came to the house in the first couple of days, and then a week later the flowers
were dead and she felt so lonely. Like I said, when someone dies, normal things can
become very difficult, often in unexpected ways.
So what is the appropriate etiquette for gift giving for sympathy and funeral
occasions? You want to be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Send yourself. Be present. It is easier to see what the needs are when you yourself are
physically sharing the hard moments with the bereaved.
2. If you can t be there yourself, this is when flowers, cards, plants, and baskets
become more meaningful. Again, remember that flowers die quickly, and the
bereaved will have to throw them away. Potted plants usually work better they
require little maintenance, last a long time and symbolize hope and peace (Peace
Lilies for example).
3. Make a donation in the name of the departed. In my sister s case, when her son
died, we ended up making a donation to a nonprofit that collects the playful drawings
of school children and delivers them to the elderly, shut in, and infirm. We did this to
try to share the love he brought into the world with others less fortunate, even though
he was gone.
4. Give the family a permanent keepsake something with the departed s initials, a
favorite saying of theirs, a shadowbox of their most precious belongings, or special
photos. For Christmas the year after my nephew died, my aunt gave the family a toy
train in which each car of the train was a letter of his name. This was very
meaningful and the kind of thing that lasts

ABSTRACT
The bacterial spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi is the causative agent of the most
commonly reported arthropod borne illness in the United States, Lyme disease. Select
proteins produced by B. burgdorferi contain the von Willebrand Factor A (VWFA)
domain, which is responsible for cell adhesion via interaction with the extracelluar
matrix (ECM), glycoproteins, and metalloproteases. Such interactions are often an
integral part of the infection process and may be especially important for B.
burgdorferi, which relies on environmental changes in both the vector and host to
colonize, transmit, and infect. BB0173, a VWFA domain containing protein, has been
evaluated based on topology and adherence to human ECM proteins and integrins, to
evaluate its role during the infection process. The confirmation of protein localization
was performed by cloning the each of the three BB0173 transmembrane domains
upstream of the luminal P2 domain of the integral membrane protein leader peptidase
found in Escherichia coli. Gene expression was investigated via immunoblot assays
using lysates from B.

The Accidental Billionaire Movie Analysis
The Controversial Creation of Facebook Based on the novel known as The
Accidental Billionaire, The Social Network is a film that explains about the
creation and the evolution of Facebook, which is one of the most popular social
media in the 21st century. In 2003, Mark Zuckerberg, a young student of Harvard
University, encountered a sudden heartbreak from his girlfriend during the dinner.
Instead of feeling flat, Mark felt angry and confused; therefore, he decided to fight
back. On that night, a crazy idea came up to his mind, where he hacked the Harvard
University system and stole all the girls, information including their photos. A few
hours later after taking the ladies information with his friend Eduardo Saverin, the
two established a social site known as FaceMash. They encouraged the other
students to compare the girls faces on this new site. Eventually, the platform
paralyzed the school s system and made Mark famous overnight. However, Mark
received his first time punishment from the university for his action. Consequently,
Mark and Eduardo s site drew more attention from Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler
Winklevoss where they invited them to create a Harvard Connection site. Mark and
Eduardo accepted the invitation, but at the same time, they continued writing their
social platform which they changed to Facebook, taking a reference to Cameron and
Tyler s idea. The social site; Facebook, regain high popularity, where more and more
users joined. However, Cameron and

This assumption was proven to be incorrect as the wasted space was calculated to be
much over 4000cm3. Another assumption made was that the square box with
rectangular prisms inside would have a considerably smaller amount of wasted
space compared to the cylinder, but a small amount of wasted space would exist. As
shown in the previous working out, there was no wasted space in the square box with
the rectangular prisms. A final assumption made in part A was the dimensions of the
cylindrical container. In part B, it was presumed that the points would be scattered
loosely around the line of best fit. After creating the scatter plot, it was understood
that the points were closely scattered around the line of best fit and a realisation that
there could be a formula to calculate the results quicker was brought into
consideration. Also, another assumption was that the amount of wasted space would
not be a significant amount. After calculating, it was notable that the wasted space
was more than half of the volume of the

On July 21, 2015 the county of San Diego s Board of Supervisors held a public

Board Supervisor Diane Jacob addressed Agenda Item number one, which was
concerned with Sheriff s request for the procurement of food, food preparation

The main reason I chose this Agenda Item was because I work with the department

Difference Between Internal And External Crowdsourcing
According to several scholars (including Villarroel and Reis, 2010; Boudreau and
Lakhani, 2013; Carlson and Wilmot, 2006; Chesbrough, 2006a, 2006b; Byren, 2013;
Yap, 2012; Howe, 2006, 2009; Brabham, 2008b, 2009, 2013), the main difference
between internal and external crowdsourcing can be summarized as follows: i) the
internal crowd(employees) is known to the firm; ii) the crowd can be all employees
of the firm, a subsidiary of the firm, or may also include partners and suppliers; iii)
the crowd is specifically used for problem solving or aggregating ideas for innovation
purposes; and iv) the crowd may also be anyone with internet or mobile remote
access capable of participating in a crowdsourcingcontest and vote on the ideas of
others.
Internal crowdsourcing is easier to implement in companies where social media
acceptance is high (Yap, 2012); crowdsourcing attempts within companies don t
measure up to the external crowd (Boudreau and Lakhani, 2013). Crowdsourcing
forms such as idea marketplaces and idea jams lack the capabilities and fall short
to the external crowd s full capacity. Boudreau and Lakhani (2013) believes
employees are discouraged from seeking challenges; Yap (2012) says that internal
crowdsourcing unveil innovations from employees which otherwise would not be
captured. Carlson and Wilmot (2006) emphasizes that every employee does in fact
has the ability to innovate, and must do so for their company to stay competitive.

Prostitution in the Victorian Era Essay
Prostitution in the Victorian Era
There were many prostitutes during the Victorian era. Most were lower class women,
with the exception of the mistresses kept by upper class men. According to Victorian
standards, respectable women did not consider sexual intercourse pleasurable. It was
their duty to be intimate with their husbands. Having affairs was disgraceful (Waters).
Prostitutes, on the other hand, were sexually intimate with men because they enjoyed
sex. Men enjoyed prostitutes because they could not enjoy their wives. Victorian
femininity was not defined by sexual pleasure, while Victorian masculinity was
defined by sexual pleasure and conquest. Prostitutes did not necessarily enjoy their

Respectable men and women would lure young women, usually from a lower class
background, away from their homes and sell them into prostitution. Rarely did these
young women go back to their families; not because they free to go, but because the
procurators and procuresses never allowed these women a moment to be truly alone
in public. These horrible men and women controlled these young women s lives as if
they were possessions. In the off chance that a young woman escaped her bondage,
she was not welcome back into her family with open arms. She was an outcast
because she was a prostitute (by society s standards). Unfortunately, there was no help
for these young girls, or any other prostitute. The people in a position to help them,
like The Society for the Protection of Women and Children, turned a blind eye
towards these women. The Society for the Protection of Women and Children only
helped the privileged, not the needy (Wells 56). Prostitutes were not confined to one
way of presenting their services. There were many types of brothels that serviced
men from all social classes visited. Streetwalkers lived in Accommodation houses,
which is one type of brothel (Wells 56). These women did not pay a Madame for
their room and board, but accountable to themselves. Other prostitutes lived under the
watchful eyes of their procuresses. These women lived in

Why Is Mary Shelley s Frankenstein A Supporter Of The...
There is some debate on the true purpose behind Mary Shelley s legendary novel
Frankenstein. There are those that believe Mary Shelley was a Supporter of the
Romantic Movement and that her work challenges the, previously accepted,
neoclassical beliefs of avoiding extremes. However, there seems to be more evidence
showing that Mary Shelley, in fact, reinforced neoclassical values. Rather than
making her main character, Frankenstein, a tragic hero, glorifying his faults, and
ultimately supporting the Romantic Movement, Shelley scrutinizes Frankenstein for
his errors. Also, perhaps because of Shelley s Neoclassical ideals, Frankenstein
reveals himself as a solipsist time and time again throughout the novel. Mary Shelley

Critiquing Qualitative Research Questions
Incorporating the key concept of sourcing information on crime as a community
member wasn t overly challenging. However, wording the questions and designing
them so that there was no bias or favor towards one answer was difficult at first.
Finding enough ways to develop questions whilst providing answers to the survey
without fear of repetition to achieve a response for the research questions with
quantitative data was a challenge. The levels of measurement of the variable that
was used for this survey is ordinal. An ordinal scale has no natural origin and there
is no real interval between ranks on the scale, the ordinal scale is used to represent
preferences and judgements , ordinal scales commonly appear discreet instead of

Complementarity exercises the use of results from one method to elaborate or clarify
results from another method whilst development using results from one method to
develop and improve another (Greene, Caracelli and Graham 1989, 259). Through
using these two methods it allows us to develop both the quantitative and qualitative
results using the results of the other to elaborate and solidify the other resulting in
better data across both styles of the data analysis. The survey would enable us to
back up the trends found in the interview, ad the interview results would allow us to
give insight into the reason behind the survey findings. Overall the results of both the
qualitative interview and the quantitative survey would benefit the results of each
other and provide a deeper insight into the trends set by different variables and allow
for some explanation as to why these trends would

Project Scope Of A Project
Questions:
1.Explain what is meant by the following: The project scope statement should not be
built in isolation .
When the PM is developing the project scope, he/she be aware that the project s
scope come from many sources; stakeholders, the entire team contributing ideas,
SME s giving their concepts, among others. It s not the PM entire responsibility and
he/she must involve all the players when is appropriate. When every single person
directly related with the project collaborate to build the project scope, the PM could
frame an accurate scope statement describing items that will be included and those
that won t be included in the project.
5. Discuss project management related problems created due to scope creep
Scope creep can be avoided if the scope is built correctly with help from the entire
team. If I as a project manager not define with clarity what is going to be included,
the project scope will change again and again, affecting both, the duration and the
cost of the project. The triple constrain concept here is key, given the fact that time
and cost will be affected. The best strategy to avoid scope creep is develop and use a
correct scope management plan.

In United States Military, particularly the Army, all soldiers both men and women,
take an oath to protect and defend the United States Constitution. However, there is
one soldier named Bowe Bergdahl who thought that it would be okay to just leave
his post, without letting his squad know where he was going, and thus creating a
controversy that has rocked the political environment in Washington D.C. After
listening to the Serial Podcast by Sarah Koneig and hearing all the interviews from
political leaders, former squad mates, and even reporters, it is fair to come to the
conclusion that Bowe Bergdahl deserves to be charged with Desertion and
Misbehaving before the enemy. In this essay, I am going to briefly explain why
Bergdahl deserves to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it was known that Bergdahl was kidnapped by Taliban, some of the things that
he said about the United States are quite troubling. For example, the Taliban
released a video of Bergdahl saying this, I am ashamed to be an American. And the
title of U.S. soldier is just the lie of fools. This is not only showing disrespect to the
United States, but by hearing Bowe Bergdahl make this very profound statement, this
clearly shows why he deserves to be charged with Misbehaving before the enemy.
Another way to show that Bergdahl deserves to charged with Misbehaving before the
enemy, is by looking at the other comment that Bergdahl made. For example, in
another video that was released, Bergdahl said this, The horror that is America is
disgusting. By watching Bergdahl make this statement, this gives another reason on
why he deserves to be charged with Misbehaving before the enemy.
To conclude, everybody will have their different opinions on Bowe Bergdahl. Some
people believe that he is a prisoner of war and that he doesen t need to be charged,
and others will believe that he is an utter traitor and that he deserves to be charged.
Whether you believe that he is guilty or not, you simply cannot deny the evidence.
Sure, Bowe Bergdahl suffered in captivity, but even though that this might be the
case, what he did on the other hand

state government shutdown lasting 16 days occurred in 1991 when then Gov. John
McKernan failed to reach an agreement with the state legislature about workers
compensation reform.
The legislative leaders as well as Governor LePage s administration downplay the
possibility of a shutdown, and have all stressed their commitment to avoid this drastic
measure. However, LePage s often adversarial relationship with the legislature and
battles over MaineCare funding must not be downplayed. LePage s administration is
not offering any insight as to how the administration would conduct state government
if a shutdown occurs; however, it will fall to LePage to decide which government
services are essential and will continue in the event a budget agreement is not realized
and a shutdown occurs.
Like many nonprofits in the last several decades, CHCS has been affected by
unexpected shifts in funding and must be prepared should a shutdown or any other
significant loss of funding occur. CHCS receives just under 80% of its operating
funds directly or indirectly from the State of Maine. In the unlikely event of a state
government shutdown, as executive
Critical Analysis Of Overture To Ruslan And Ludmilla
Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla by M.Glinka
The concert took place in St. Joseph church on Mono Street. After the orchestra tuned
all their instruments, the conductor, Garo Avessian, came to the podium. The first
piece played was Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla by M. Glinka, The Overture
opens with a fast tempo and dynamic rhythm which leads to crescendo at moments.
There follows a strong, joyous theme that leaps about with seemingly unbounded
energy. Although, this theme, has a complete opposite mood compared to the
original theme, it complements it. After this, a smooth, warm theme is played by the
cellos, which to me was the highlight of the whole piece. What caught my attention,
was that the last theme played was the recapitulation of the original them (sonata
form). To me, the conductor and orchestra, completely understood each other and
worked in harmony, mastering an already elegant piece.

What s a unique about this piece is that it was never played before, and it is
completely different compared to the other pieces played. It starts off with drums
interspersed with the flute, which contained elements from both eastern and western
styles. Tala then starts playing the piano and at the same time makes noises with her
mouth, which was theatrical and at the same time unorthodox. You could hear a few
middle eastern moments during the piece, plus some western style touches. The
piece finished with her walking around the church holding a small radio, which
played a fragment or two from a popular Lebanese song. All in all, I liked how
Bushra fused elements from both western and middle eastern culture into an unusual
piece that we don t hear that often. Moreover, Tala s theatrical performance enhanced
this piece s likability, although, I preferred the other style of music being played that
What Is The Influence Of Media On Body Image

How influential is the media today on society image? Media has made people
believe that they need an unrealistic body shape and standard of beauty. There are

Leadership and Organizational Behavior
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed people can change the world.
Indeed. It is the only thing that ever has.
Margaret Mead
In the past 25 years, the concept of organizational culture has gained wide recognition
as a way to understand human systems.
The culture of a group can now be defined as: A pattern of shared basic assumptions
that the group learned as it solved its problems of external adaptation and internal
integration, that has worked well enough to be considered valid and therefore, to be
taught to new members as the correct way to perceive, think, and feel in relation to
those problems. В№ (Schein 373 374)

Dbq Political Campaign
From the perspective of a candidate, the main goal of a political campaign is to win
votes. Politicians use campaign propaganda to help achieve that goal. There are six
primary strategies used in campaign propaganda: stacking the deck; testimonials
/endorsements; plain folks; negative ads; glittering generalities; and guilt by
association/coat tailing. A campaign is measured by its effectiveness, whether it is
informative, and if it is ethical. An effective campaign wins votes; an informative
campaign gets the message out to the voters; and an ethical campaign respects the
opponent and is truthful (Campaign Propaganda Mini Q). Using these measuring
sticks to evaluate the six strategies, the most valuable (in order of strength) are:

Bush campaigned against Michael Dukakis in the 1988 presidential election
(Document D). Bush used negative ads to influence voters into believing Dukakis, if
elected, would make the country weak in defense based on his voting patterns. Bush
wanted voters to mistrust Dukakis so he could win the election. Dukakis failed to
effectively counter Bush s negative attacks. Consequently, the negative ad strategy
worked in his favor, as Bush became the 41st President of the United States.
However, using the measuring sticks as a gauge, the strategy was not ethical as it was
not completely honest and was disrespectful. Similarly, during the 1992 presidential
election, Bill Clinton used the same strategy to defeat his opponent, the incumbent
George H.W. Bush (Document D). Clinton used ads that sent a message that Bush
could not be trusted because he promised no new taxes, but then raised taxes. Using
the measuring sticks, this strategy was effective as Clinton was elected over Bush;
however, Clinton was not completely honest and was disrespectful to his opponent. In
the 2012 presidential election, the incumbent Barack Obama campaigned against Mitt
Romney (Document E). Both candidates used glittering generalities to appeal to
voter s emotions. Obama used Hope and Forward and Romney used Believe in
America. Neither of these catch phrases were informative as they did not provide any
real information to the voters. While the strategy may
The Power Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
The power of love can help people get through obstacles that stand in their way and
can help one become his or her own individual. In the famous play Romeo and
Juliet , by William Shakespeare, Romeo is willing to do whatever it takes to be
with Juliet without even looking back or thinking of the consequences while Juliet
struggles with becoming an individual going from someone who shares a mind with
her mother to an independent individual choosing to be with Romeo. Shakespeare
develops Romeo by his overdramatic choice of words and Juliet by her change in
behavior going from obedient and letting others speak for her to rebellious in trying
to be independent, which refines the central idea: the power of loveagainst obstacles.
Romeo s overdramatic word choice helps give the reader a deeper meaning into
the power of love against obstacles. Romeo constantly exaggerates his thoughts
through the choice of words he uses in his daily language. When Benvolio
questions Romeo, wondering why he is upset, Romeo explains how love is a
smoke made up with a fume of sighs, (Act one, scene one) and goes on about his
love for Rosaline. In saying so, Romeo conveys his thoughts about how love can be
bittersweet. Love can consume one like a strong fume, but that fume can also be
dangerous and engulf you in sadness. Romeo is portrayed as a romantic, showing
the reader his deep love for Rosaline. However, Romeo then falls in love with Juliet.
His love for Juliet is enough for him to not be
George Frideric Handel Research Paper
George Frideric Handel George Frideric Handel started his life in Germany, and he
ended up in England due to his love of music. He was a child prodigy even though
he was discouraged from pursuing a career in music. Once he was finally allowed
to take lessons and work under a master, Handel began to flourish. There were times
when Handel struggled, but ultimately, he prospered in the music business. His
music, vocal and instrumental, continues to please crowds everywhere. Handel
continued to compose music until just before he died in 1759; nothing stopped him
from writing. Handel was born on February 23, 1685 in Halle, Germany. He was

This particular opera was quite popular and had a twenty performance run. Some
of his other operas were Rodrigo and Agrippina. While touring Italy with these
shows, Handel met many major Italian musicians. In 1710, he left Venice for
London because he wanted to try freelancing. While there, Handel composed the
opera Rinaldo upon request from the manager of the King s Theatre. This opera is
what gained [Handel] the widespread recognition that he would maintain
throughout the rest of his career (George). His next few years were spent working
for English royalty. In 1719, Handel was offered the position of the Master of the
Orchestra at the Royal Academy of Music, which he was happy to accept.
Unfortunately, the opera he composed while there were not that helpful to the
academy. In 1726, Handel decided to become a British citizen and make London
his home. Slowly but surely, opera started to lose popularity after a rivalry broke
out between two lead actresses (George). During their time, Handel s operas were
praised; however, some twenty five years after his death, they were no longer a
part of the current repertoire. In fact, it has been over one hundred years since any
of them except for Almira in 1874 were performed publicly. Despite popular belief to
the contrary, Handel s works were more than solos and duets. In Alcina, Handel freely
used the chorus during the scenes that involved Alcina s victims;

It could be further argued that to become effective at learning, teachers should
strive to encourage all learners to develop a balance of learning styles. The
learning style that I would consider my lesson to be instrumentalism as it is
product driven at the end of the course the learners will have a skill to make them
employable. The theory of knowledge is taught by developing useful skills and
knowledge that the learners need to progress further and reach the vocational
qualification and is assessment based with an exam in the form of a portfolio to
reach the qualification. Although I can clearly see that the subject I teach covers the
instrumentalism theories and therefore is government funded I do think overall it
puts a lot of pressure on the tutoar to teach by means of assessment and ticking the
right boxes to keep the funding there and due to time frames it does not leave much
scope to develop a person. I try, where possible, to bring this into lesson as the
perenialist theories believe one should teach the things that one deems to be of
everlasting importance to all people everywhere. I feel that the most important topics
develop a person. Since details of fact change constantly, these cannot be the most
important. Therefore, one should teach principles, not facts as it is the principles of

Bottled Water In Schools
I think that bottled water should not be banned from schools and should be used
and accepted everywhere. As humans we need water to survive, whether the water
is from the tap or a supposed sanctuary of pure water. What is the difference? Water
is still water and that is what it will always be. We do not need fancy labels, brands,
slogans, or other marketing ideas to influence the way we think about bottled water.
All water should just be water, bottled or not.
First, all water is the same, it does the same job as any other water you get and put
into your body. People need to drink more water. The consumption of water, whether
from the bottle or the tap, is a good thing and supports people s pursuit of a healthy
lifestyle. says the Bottled Water Association. So whether or not the water comes
from the tap or a process factory, it should not matter because in the end all water
should be the same. It is silly that people think that bottled water shouldn t be used.

If there is bad water in the tap system that tastes awful or is contaminated or tainted,
then you would probably turn to bottled water. Banning or restricting access to
bottled water in the marketplace directly impacts the right of people to choose the

to other packaged beverages, which are often less healthy. Bottled water must
therefore be available wherever packaged beverages are sold. Our community would
suffer and there would be great conflict if everyone getting the water supply they
need. If we ban bottled water then that could significantly impact our economy and
our citizens health as a

I have decided to attend to a concert in Limestone that it took place exactly inside the
building called Carrol Auditorium. The concert was based on graduate and
undergraduate students in Limestone who decided to study and learn about singing
and playing instruments with their music professors while being in college. It was
not like a whole concert, it was more of students of Limestone singing individually
and in group, and also playing different types of instruments as their professors
played the piano at the same time they were performing. Honestly, I could not tell
what genre exactly was this concert in specific since each student did a completely
thing from the other artists. One thing that I have noticed about the performers is that

The Theory Of Convivencia Between Christians And
Muslims
Is the theory of convivencia between Christians, Jews and Muslims in Iberia
convincing in the first four centuries after 711?

Word Count: 1904
The theory of convivencia between Christians, Jews and Muslims is considered to be
the period in Medieval Spain in which the three Abrahamic religions were able to
coexist and live together peacefully. The notion of convivencia not only refers to the
overall tolerance of Christians and Jews to be able to practice their religion in Al
Andalus, it also incorporates the idea of members of these three faiths sharing a
common culture, a language and working towards advancing civilisation through
poetry, literature and science. Historians who have studied this issue are largely
divided on whether this time period really was as harmonious as it is commonly
described. Historians such as Bat Ye or highlight the lack of convivencia by
placing emphasis on how leaders of Al Andalus would enforce rules such as
granting non Muslims with the status of dhimmi, essentially making them second
class citizens which by today s standards would undoubtedly lead to the theory of
convivencia being somewhat unpersuasive. However, relative to this era, Islamic
Iberia was the apex of religious tolerance, immensely surpassing the level of
tolerance in surrounding nations and empires. Montgomery Watt goes as far to say
that under Muslim rule, Jews and Christians were considered as People of the Book
who were to be a
Persepolis Film Analysis
The Complete Persepolis: Translating Literature to Film
Marjane Satrapi s The Complete Persepolis is a coming of age memoir depicted in
graphic novel form. Satrapi illustrates her life as a young girl growing into an adult
during and after the Islamic Revolution in Iran with very little narration and
simplistic dialogue. It is interesting to see how so little can be said, yet, so much can
be conveyed. In comparison, the film representation of the novel uses a separate
medium to depict the same story in a similar fashion. This is done in an effective
manner, however, the necessity of this additional form of storytelling is arguable. The
comparative analysis focus will be on graphic representation, the use of sound as an
additional enhancing tool and finally, the key thematic and historical portrayal of
novel events within the film.
Firstly, the graphic style used in the novel was maintained in the creation of the film
as Marjane Satrapi was the artist for both. Furthermore, she co wrote the screenplay
for the animated film. Her prominent role in the production for both allowed her
signature style to link the two. In the novel, the lack of colour is highly noticeable
upon reading and analyzing each image. In fact, the style plays an unpredictably great
role in depicting themes and evoking emotions. For instance, the colour black is used
predominantly as an indicator of darker themes within the novel, it becomes
noticeable within the second chapter entitled The Bicycle in

Why We Should Be Heading Towards Space Exploration
Why We Should Be Heading Towards Space
Space exploration is something that has intrigued mankind ever since science fiction
writers of old sparked the imagination of the people. Since then, we have made leaps
and bounds towards space travel with landing people on the moon, sending satellites
to Saturn, the photos from the Hubble Telescope and the rover, Curiosity, on Mars.
These advances have provided information that will prove to be beyond measure.
While the cost of such information has been high, the benefits of the information has
been irrefutable. Ultimately, this information goes to support not only further
exploration of space, but also towards technologies that will benefit Earth directly.
Two such projects deal primarily with solar power and nuclear waste disposal. Both
of these industries would benefit immensely from such a service and would also
generate the need for many space flights (Coopersmith, 2012). According to
Coopersmith (2012), Space based solar power (SBSP) promises gigawatts of electric
power with minimum environmental damage. Example like this go to show that the
inventions and benefits realized through space exploration reach far beyond the
cosmos and into the everyday lives of people.
Right off the bat, the question for most is, with all the benefits realized through space
exploration aside, what is the actual cost of these endeavors. The space shuttle
program (now retired) was the primary consumer when it came to taxpayer funds.

Comparing Empress Wu And Pharaoh Cleopatra
Being a female in itself is hard, but being a female ruler, well that is almost near
impossible, but it can be done. Look at empress Wu and Pharaoh Cleopatra, they
were powerful rulers. They both worked hard but they also did have their differences,
such as their ascent to power, achievements, resources and overall method of ruling.
When it comes to these two women and there ascent to power it is two different
stores to start but they tend to overlap. For example Empress Wu was only able to
be near the emperor because she was his concubine, and she gave him everything
that his wife was unable too. Even though she was favored over Emperor Kao
Tsung s wife, she felt that was not enough so she fed the Emperor a lie, which he
believed. Resulting in him removing his wife and marring Empress Wu. Not too

Negative Effects Of Stress
According to a poll, about one in every four Americans (about sixty million people)
have claimed to have encountered some stress this past month (Whyte n.p.).
Sometimes, the intensity of stress causes anxiety or frustration. Which is why for
the most part, stress is taken as a negative impact on an individual. Whether that
stress comes from school, money, environment, work or all of them, everyone
walks the same path of stress sometimes without even realizing it. Although many
people perceive stress in a negative way, there s some surprising benefits of stress
that we are not aware of. It all comes down to the basic element of what stress is.
Stress is an anticipated feeling someone gets when they get into any trouble or
difficulty. The human body reacts physically to any stressor that comes across. For
example, our body has two important systems that play a role sympathetic nervous
systemand parasympathetic system. The parasympathetic system is known as a rest
and digest response in which hormones send adrenaline and other transmitters to your
body. On the other hand, the sympathetic nervous systemis known as a fight or flight
response in which it uses that adrenaline in order to react quickly. Therefore, both
these symptoms react to any stressor that can prepare the human body for anything
that might come across, physically and mentally. (Grant n.p.) Stress can benefit us in
many ways. For one, it can help humans increase their cognitive learning and
The Importance Of Maths
For many students, maths is a language only spoken at school, but maths is a well
spoken language in my home. My mother s love for maths has inevitably infected
me with the desire to solve problems with logical reason. I feel that a solution to one
question in maths may open up more questions ranging in different domains of
mathematics. Maths has helped me to discover different ways to achieve solutions
through alternate thinking and this is reminiscent of everyday life, where it is
advantageous to use effective and more efficient routes to overcome problems. I find
that maths can be embedded into many aspects of life, e.g. using the Pythagoras
theorem to aid in designing a room. Also, in biology, to find the variation in the
distribution of a species, you can use standard deviation.
Maths encourages me to delve into divergent thinking. It thrills me that there is
always more to learn and the knowledge is never capped. Maths to me has acted as a
mechanism for calming my busy mind. For example, some people enjoy the
tranquillity of music, whereas my music is maths. Achieving the correct answer
whenever I complete a maths question brings me great satisfaction, which further
increases my motivation towards further learning. I have always thought that once
you find that numbers are easy to work with, you develop an appetite to learn more
about maths through practice it will stick in your mind forever.
Chemistry works hand in hand with maths, it cannot work without it.
Safeguarding Personal Privacy
America today rivals George Orwell s 1984 society through the National Security
Agency s global surveillance programs such as Prism, XKeyscore, and Dishfire.
Surveillance programs, led by the NSA, are all used to clandestinely collect
electronic data from all internet and phone users throughout the world. These
programs came about after the Patriot Act of 2001. This act was put in place to help
protect the American people from terrorist groups after the atrocities seen on 9/11.
Originally drafted to protect the people, the Patriot Act was soon taken advantage of
by the NSA. These programs should be heavily restricted because they disregard
personal privacy, do not properly protect the information they are taking, and, lastly,
are unconstitutional.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In theory, the government can detect warning signs from certain individuals before it
is too late and the damage is done. However, what are the American people trading
for this security? Is this loss of privacy and freedom worth it? To quote one of the
greatest American founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, Those who would give up
essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor
Safety. In Conclusion, clandestine surveillance programs run by the United States
government are Orwellian in nature and are becoming out of hand The NSA s
Prism, XKeyscore, and Dishfire programs should be extremely regulated because
they overstep the boundaries or personal privacy, do not adequately protect the data
they obtain, and impede on the basic rights given to Americans in the
Information Technology and Innovation at Shinsei Bank
9 607 010 REV: OCTOBER 4, 2007 DAVID M. UPTON VIRGINIA A. FULLER
Information Technology and Innovation at Shinsei Bank Jay Dvivedi looked once
more at the proposal in his email inbox, sighed and closed his laptop for the night.
He owed his boss, Shinsei CEO Thierry Porte, a response and he knew that he
would need to send it in morning. One of the heads of Shinsei s business units had
approached Porte directly with a proposal for a new, off the shelf customer
relationship management (CRM) system for his business. He wanted to fund it and
implement with his own personnel, but he needed approval from Porte. Before Porte
responded he had requested input from Dvivedi. When Dvivedi discussed the idea
with his team the opinion was divided. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

2 Information Technology and Innovation at Shinsei Bank 607 010 LTCB did not
have much presence in retail banking, with only two dozen branches throughout
Japan, while major commercial banks had several hundred branches. The bank sold
debentures (instead of receiving deposits) to high net worth individuals, but those
individuals conducted their banking transactions at other banks which had a broader
branch network. Shinsei bank needed an entirely new business strategy, and that,
decided Yashiro, would be to serve retail customers. To create a retail banking
business from the ground up, Yashiro needed the help of a visionary and technologist.
Dhananjaya Jay Dvivedi looked like the right man for the job. An experienced
manager of technology and operations with whom Yashiro had worked at Citibank
Japan during the 1990s,4 Dvivedi had an engineering background and sought to apply
manufacturing principles to the development of the new IT infrastructure. Retail
Banking Business The traditional methods of retail banking in Japan were anything
but convenient. Business hours ended at three o clock in the afternoon (to allow time
to reconcile computer system information with the databases), no ATM usage outside
of business hours, fees for ATMs, no Internet banking, long lead times for new
account openings, separate accounts for each type of financial product, and other
inconveniences had been an unavoidable, bitter pill for people managing their money
in Japan. Yashiro and

They provide training, oversee and maintain compliance by way of the Homeless
Management Information System (HMIS), conduct investigations, and manage the

Mr. Lucio has been employed by TCP since 2011. He is responsible for
subcontracting with federal and local agencies. He supervises training and conducts
program monitoring.
During the meeting, Mr. Lucio stated that Ms. Williams had worked at Casa Ruby
before they began receiving any public funding. He has been under the impression
that Ms. Williams currently works with Casa Ruby, but not under the contract that
TCP has with Casa Ruby. He believes that Casa Ruby may have some private
funding that is being used to pay Ms. Williams to continue working with the
organization. Mr. Lucio mentioned that there may have been an issue with Ms.
Williams background check which came back with a previous prostitution charge.
However, management at Casa Ruby believed the Ms. Williams past should be
overlooked in that she had turned her life around and could be a positive role model
for youth. Therefore, it was the organizations decision to maintain Ms. Williams
employment status with Casa Ruby because they wanted to utilize her to speak to

Comparing Sweat And The Garden Party
How many things can a story about a washerwoman in the South have in common
with a story about a girl from a high class society? There is plenty. The short stories
Sweat and The Garden Party are both different and similar in more than one way.
Although the use of structure and symbolism are different, but the tones in these
stories are quite similar. First of all the use tones. In both Sweat and The Garden
Party , the attitudes the authors have about the topics are sympathetic and caring,
some may even think they are worried or frustrated. Sweat focuses on the idea of
feminism, and The Garden Party is centered around class. Both of the authors are
expressing their feelings about these topics and it shows through their writing.
Neither of them are fond of their story s theme, and they want the readers to see that.

The two selections are both in chronological order with climaxes at the end, the
two main characters are female, and their oppositions are both members of their
own family, in Sweat , Delia s opposition is her husband, while Laura from The
Garden Party is against her family s ideas and beliefs. Sweat does use a lot of
dialect when depicting what the townspeople are talking, and it uses more
dialogue than The Garden Party . There are multiple plots in The Garden Party ,
including Laura s family, the Sheridans, and the family of the man who dies while
Sweat focuses mainly on Delia and her life. In Sweat , the cause of Syke s death is
him getting a snake to scare Delia, his wife; the cause in The Garden Party is the
villager dying, which led to Laura learning about living in a high society
Nigeria And Keny Corruption Essay
Throughout the last 10 years, Nigeria and Kenya have been partly free. Corruption is
the greatest indicator among both for the lack of democracy. In Nigeria, corruption
stems from the problem with oil, it leads to political violence, repression and
unchecked government power. In Kenya, corruption arises from economic interests,
causing political instability and hindering development. In addition to that, both
experience electoral corruption. Conversely, civil societies active participation in the
government propels each country towards a thicker democracy. Even though Nigeria
and Kenya are thin democracies, their high levels of corruption in their government
inhibits their ability of becoming free democracies.
While both Kenya and Nigeria are partly free, historically, Kenya s freedom score
is lower than Nigeria s. High levels of corruption are prevalent in both Nigeria and
Kenya, however, the oil curse in Nigeria further stimulates corruption which
impairs their countries democracy. Nigeria s economy is the second largest in
Africa and it continues to grow by 6% a year. This growth is dominated by the
production of oil. Oil accounts for more than 98% of export revenues. Oil wealth is
the main source of corruption in Nigeria, it encompasses political violence, and
repression (Nigeria Freedom House). Diamond accounts that among the 23 countries
dominated by oil today, none of them are democracies, he claims that democracy can
begin to mature only when oil declines in a
Panama Canal Analysis
Major events leading to the construction of the Panama Canal:
The French impose an effort on the construction of the canal but end in a dejected
failure.
Within the 1900s, John Hay and Julian Pauncefote come to an agreement that allows
the United States to control the construction and administration of the canal without
fortifying it (Hay Pauncefote Treaty).
Theodore Roosevelt then becomes president establishing great significance towards
the idea that the United States should behold total management over the canal.
The second treaty accomplishes the goal that allows the United States fortification of
the canal.
Due to the lower demands introduced to the senate along with the natural disaster of
what Mt. Momotombo could cause, congress favors Panama.
Hay then offers negotiations towards Colombia, but the agreement is rejected.
The superiorities in Washington then exposed the idea that Panama could resolve the
Colombian conflict if they established and won independence as a whole.
A Panamanian group then plans to initiate a revolution with over 500 rebels.
United States Naval ships stop Colombian troops from interfering with Panamanian
rebels.
In one day with the help of the U.S. and its naval ships, Panama is granted
independence from Colombia.
A new treaty is established that explains and distinguishes the rights for building the
canal while also protecting Panama.
The canal is then built and finalized after seven years of Roosevelt s passing.
Fourth Ward School Analysis
Within historic Virginia City resides the Fourth Ward School, a building
constructed in 1874. When it was built, Virginia City was booming with a
population of approximately twenty two thousand people. Virginia City at the time
wanted to show off some of its pride as a city with a new four story school. As the
school today is so very old and has a history, people running the museum have to
balance keeping the place funded and staying historically true. Today, the museum
has lost much of its historical authenticity and has taken on more of a museum s role,
rather than a historical building role. However, that does not diminish the education
potential the Fourth Ward School still has.
The School itself closed down in 1936, and it was not until ... Show more content on

This comes from the fact that the Fourth Ward School has undergone massive
reconstruction since its desertion in 1936. That does not take away from the fact
that the school looks to be authentic, like it was just preserved. This adds to its
efficiency to educate as few museums can also claim to be a historical building and
show history visually. Even if the school is entirely re created, with the vast sum of
knowledge on the school, we can recreate it masterfully so that everyone can still
learn and enjoy being in a historical building that is the last of its kind. The Fourth
Ward School blends the needs of historic preservation well with the needs of a
modern museum. It is likely that as time goes on, the needs of the museum will
outweigh the needs of historical
Seeking Asian Female By Debbie Lum
The film Seeking Asian Female by Debbie Lum, follows Steven and Sandy s
journey to marriage. Steven searches for his dream wife within the Asian
community and meets 30 year old Sandy, who too, is searching for her life partner,
through the internet. Sandy later moves in with Steven and we unravel the
positives and the negatives that they face culturally, socially and economically.
Their language barrier proves to be a huge obstacle for them as they struggle to
communicate with one another properly and there is a lot of pressure on Steven to
prove himself to be financially stable enough to marry Sandy and form a new life
together, due to Sandy s inability to work legally in the U.S. without a green card.

Sandy had migrated from China to the America in order to be together with Steven,
adding on the many other females who have dominated the many other women who
have dominated the U.S. bound migration since 1930s as women than men have
migrated as spouses (Hung, 2004). One possible reason for individuals marrying
outside of their home country could be due to the structural and demographic
limitations that they face in their local marriage markets (Hung, 2004). Sandy is 30
years old, and in China, she is viewed negatively for being at such an age and not
having been married yet, thus leaving her be to unwanted by many who
traditionally view her to be past the prime age for marriage. Thus she turned to the
internet in hopes of finding an open minded Chinese male, but ends up finding
Steven instead (Lum, 2012). Despite being unwanted in her country China, she is
one of the many Asian females who are very much wanted overseas by men such as
Steven. There is also an idealization of America for Sandy, as she referred to it as a
paradise...everyone wanted to go to America (Lum, 2012), similar to the Chosonjok
brides in South Korea moving away with promises of a better life, more freedom but
only to find that it s a distant reality (Freeman, 2004). When the situation gets tough
and in both situations, the women struggled to integrate into their new situation, their
first instinct is to seek haven elsewhere. Sandy
Hochswender Persuasive Analysis
Anna, I agree that Hochswender was persuasive in the part of the argument that he
claims that he is not a bad person for driving an SUV. Although, I do not believe
that he was persuasive with other parts of the argument, he is convincing on this
aspect. While viewing the article from a point of view where Hochswender is
aiming to convince his readers that SUV drivers are not bad, he makes two
extremely logical (logos) points. Those points are that road navigation within his
area being easier while driving an SUV and that the ideas behind the television
commercials and the Pulp Fiction movie linking SUVs and terrorism are illogical. I
agree that he is using ethics (ethos) as he explains the contributions that he makes to
society.

The Ceiling Art of Pozzo s Triumph of Sain Ignatius of...
#######poorly written######Pozzo s Triumph of Saint Ignatius of Loyola is on
the ceiling of the Church of Sant Ignazio in Rome, and was painted from 1685
1694. It is approximately 56 feet by 115 feet across the ceiling, and uses a
quadratura perspective to create an almost three dimensional effect. While the effect
makes the center look much higher, it is actually painted on an arched ceiling called
a barrel vault. This is a frescopainting, a type of coloring that made the painting
integral to the construction of the building or item. Inside the Church of Sant
Ignazio, there is a single white tile indicating where the viewer is intended to stand
to truly appreciate Pozzo s work. The scene illustrates many different saints and other
highly viewed people, all ascending towards the sky. There is also allegorical figures
of the 4 continents (America, Europe, Africa, and Asia) attached to the side of the
buildings windows at the base of the painting. The scene is filled with cherubs that
seem to be aiding the continents and saints. At the center of the painting, Saint
Ignatius is following Christ into heaven, with beams of light coming from his body
towards the four continents. The arches at the ends of the painting also add to the
illusion that the center of the painting is much higher than the rest of it. Saint Francis
Xavieris also shown in the work ascending towards the heavens.

  • 1. Argumentative Essay Example On Abortion Writing an argumentative essay on the topic of abortion can be a challenging endeavor that requires careful research, thoughtful analysis, and the ability to present a well-structured and convincing argument. The subject of abortion is highly controversial and emotionally charged, making it essential for the writer to navigate through various perspectives with sensitivity and objectivity. One of the primary difficulties in crafting such an essay is the need to address the ethical, moral, and legal aspects surrounding abortion. The writer must delve into the complex and nuanced nature of the topic, considering both pro-life and pro-choice arguments while maintaining a balanced and respectful tone. It requires a deep understanding of the historical context, cultural differences, and diverse beliefs that contribute to the complexity of the abortion debate. Researching credible sources is crucial to building a strong foundation for the argument. It involves sifting through a myriad of studies, legal documents, ethical frameworks, and personal narratives to support the chosen stance. Additionally, presenting accurate and up-to-date information is essential in providing a comprehensive overview of the subject matter. Another challenge lies in crafting a compelling thesis statement that clearly articulates the writer's position on the issue. The thesis should be specific, debatable, and reflective of the main argument presented in the essay. Developing a coherent and logical structure is also essential, as it helps to guide the reader through the different aspects of the argument, leading to a well- supported conclusion. Furthermore, maintaining a neutral and respectful tone is critical, as abortion is a deeply personal and sensitive topic. Striking the right balance between empathy and objectivity is challenging but necessary to engage readers from diverse backgrounds and beliefs. In conclusion, writing an argumentative essay on the topic of abortion demands thorough research, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of the subject. Navigating through the complexities and controversies surrounding abortion requires a careful and respectful approach. While challenging, it provides an opportunity for writers to hone their analytical and persuasive skills, contributing to a more informed and empathetic discourse on this important issue. • 3. Magical Realism In Gabriel Garcia Marquez Kids taken from mothers, people stripped of their cultures, and families separated. Latin American people have gone through burdens unimaginable to other, more developed, countries around the world. Latin America has a very distinct culture, but that culture was stripped from the people and replaced with another culture. Latin Americas diverse culture shows in its use of magical realism and their intriguing ways of telling history. Magical realism is used to represent the mistreated figures and atrocious leaders in their literature. One of these writers is Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Born in Aracataca, Colombia this latino writer used magical realism in his stories to represent the conditions in Latin America. He uses characters in his stories to represent Latin America and how the countries people are treated. Gabriel originally went to school to be a lawyer, but later gave that up to be a journalist. His short stories and inspirational speeches were awarded the Nobel Prize of Literature and the International Literature Award. Although Latin America was beaten down, they still persevered. They gained their independence and started to become the great country they once were. Like Gabriel said in his speech, The Solitude of Latin America, Nevertheless, in the face of oppression, pillage, and abandonment, our reply is life. This tells us that Latin America, in the face of defeat, rises and comes back twice as strong. The constant oppression of their people and the suffering

With 24 hour new coverage the trial attracted a multitude of audience. The trial had a lot of marketing opportunities. Whether it be from selling stories or T.V appearance, there was money to be made. Media reporters took every opportunity to bring in audience with hot debates on whether he did it or not. The case was televising for 134 days on television and trial took more than 8 months. The murder happens after Nicole rejected O. J s company to go to his daughters dance recital. When it takes six months to make a case, the jury is going to be left with a lot questionable thoughts. The jury will feel as if the evidence is too much or clearly the fact it has no substance. If you re stalling every day to make a case appear to be what it isn t, chances are they will feel as if you re trying too hard. That s the impression that the jury got left with. The prosecutors had a mountain of evidence. Many questioned how can OJ explain the blood on the gate or the blood on the socks? It was a case with a lot of DNA evidence. This case was in favor of the prosecutors, which they could have easily won if they hadn t made so many mistakes. the prosecutors started a trial on murder charges and ended up showing how OJ did might have been motivated to do the murder. In the eyes of the public this could look like character assassination, especially in the black committee. Another thing that went wrong was the prosecutor s witnesses began to sell their stories to the media, and book deals. When this happens lawyers call these cash for trash . Cash for trash is known witnesses who sell their testimony for money and is usually not credible anymore. With the case attracting so much media attention the witnesses in the eyes of the jury could say anything for money. That s why the defense took shots at the witnesses by questioning their
  • 5. Examples Of A Gift Etiquette Sympathy Gift Etiquette When someone close to you loses a friend or family member, it can be difficult to know the best way to offer support. Many questions come up: how can we help? What should we do? Many people traditionally send flowers, plants, and fruit baskets. This is thoughtful and shows you care. On the other hand, when my sister experienced a death in her family last year, she became overwhelmed with what to do with all of the flowers that came to the house in the first couple of days, and then a week later the flowers were dead and she felt so lonely. Like I said, when someone dies, normal things can become very difficult, often in unexpected ways. So what is the appropriate etiquette for gift giving for sympathy and funeral occasions? It is easier to see what the needs are when you yourself are physically sharing the hard moments with the bereaved. 2. If you can t be there yourself, this is when flowers, cards, plants, and baskets become more meaningful. Again, remember that flowers die quickly, and the bereaved will have to throw them away. Potted plants usually work better they require little maintenance, last a long time and symbolize hope and peace (Peace Lilies for example). 3. Make a donation in the name of the departed. In my sister s case, when her son died, we ended up making a donation to a nonprofit that collects the playful drawings of school children and delivers them to the elderly, shut in, and infirm. We did this to try to share the love he brought into the world with others less fortunate, even though he was gone. 4. Give the family a permanent keepsake something with the departed s initials, a favorite saying of theirs, a shadowbox of their most precious belongings, or special photos. For Christmas the year after my nephew died, my aunt gave the family a toy train in which each car of the train was a letter of his name. This was very meaningful and the kind of thing that lasts

Anatomy Of The Bacterial Spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi Inner Membrane Protein BB0173 Christina Small1, Manuel Bano2, Ismael Mingarro2 and Maria Esteve Gassent1 1Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical sciences, Texas A M University, College Station TX. 2 Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Biology, University of Valencia, Burjassot, Valencia, Spain. ABSTRACT The bacterial spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi is the causative agent of the most commonly reported arthropod borne illness in the United States, Lyme disease. Select proteins produced by B. burgdorferi contain the von Willebrand Factor A (VWFA) domain, which is responsible for cell adhesion via interaction with the extracelluar matrix (ECM), glycoproteins, and metalloproteases. Such interactions are often an integral part of the infection process and may be especially important for B. burgdorferi, which relies on environmental changes in both the vector and host to colonize, transmit, and infect. BB0173, a VWFA domain containing protein, has been evaluated based on topology and adherence to human ECM proteins and integrins, to evaluate its role during the infection process. The confirmation of protein localization was performed by cloning the each of the three BB0173 transmembrane domains upstream of the luminal P2 domain of the integral membrane protein leader peptidase found in Escherichia coli. Gene expression was investigated via immunoblot assays using lysates from B.

The Accidental Billionaire Movie Analysis The Controversial Creation of Facebook Based on the novel known as The Accidental Billionaire, The Social Network is a film that explains about the creation and the evolution of Facebook, which is one of the most popular social media in the 21st century. In 2003, Mark Zuckerberg, a young student of Harvard University, encountered a sudden heartbreak from his girlfriend during the dinner. Instead of feeling flat, Mark felt angry and confused; therefore, he decided to fight back. On that night, a crazy idea came up to his mind, where he hacked the Harvard University system and stole all the girls, information including their photos. A few hours later after taking the ladies information with his friend Eduardo Saverin, the two established a social site known as FaceMash. They encouraged the other students to compare the girls faces on this new site. Eventually, the platform paralyzed the school s system and made Mark famous overnight. However, Mark received his first time punishment from the university for his action. Consequently, Mark and Eduardo s site drew more attention from Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss where they invited them to create a Harvard Connection site. Mark and Eduardo accepted the invitation, but at the same time, they continued writing their social platform which they changed to Facebook, taking a reference to Cameron and Tyler s idea. The social site; Facebook, regain high popularity, where more and more users joined. However, Cameron and

Another assumption made was that the square box with rectangular prisms inside would have a considerably smaller amount of wasted space compared to the cylinder, but a small amount of wasted space would exist. As shown in the previous working out, there was no wasted space in the square box with the rectangular prisms. A final assumption made in part A was the dimensions of the cylindrical container. In part B, it was presumed that the points would be scattered loosely around the line of best fit. After creating the scatter plot, it was understood that the points were closely scattered around the line of best fit and a realisation that there could be a formula to calculate the results quicker was brought into consideration. Also, another assumption was that the amount of wasted space would not be a significant amount. After calculating, it was notable that the wasted space was more than half of the volume of the
  • 10. Agenda Item Case Study On July 21, 2015 the county of San Diego s Board of Supervisors held a public meeting to address the concerns of the county of San Diego. During the meeting Board Supervisor Diane Jacob addressed Agenda Item number one, which was concerned with Sheriff s request for the procurement of food, food preparation supplies and equipment. All districts of San Diego were concerned with this subject. The main reason I chose this Agenda Item was because I work with the department of Health and Human Services and part time contractor with Santee sheriff department. I am currently leading a new program that supports the county s Live Well San Diego initiative. It definitely provided me with a clearer insight on how decision are made on an administrative level and what are the parties that are involved. • 11. Difference Between Internal And External Crowdsourcing According to several scholars (including Villarroel and Reis, 2010; Boudreau and Lakhani, 2013; Carlson and Wilmot, 2006; Chesbrough, 2006a, 2006b; Byren, 2013; Yap, 2012; Howe, 2006, 2009; Brabham, 2008b, 2009, 2013), the main difference between internal and external crowdsourcing can be summarized as follows: i) the internal crowd(employees) is known to the firm; ii) the crowd can be all employees of the firm, a subsidiary of the firm, or may also include partners and suppliers; iii) the crowd is specifically used for problem solving or aggregating ideas for innovation purposes; and iv) the crowd may also be anyone with internet or mobile remote access capable of participating in a crowdsourcingcontest and vote on the ideas of others. Internal crowdsourcing is easier to implement in companies where social media acceptance is high (Yap, 2012); crowdsourcing attempts within companies don t measure up to the external crowd (Boudreau and Lakhani, 2013). Crowdsourcing forms such as idea marketplaces and idea jams lack the capabilities and fall short to the external crowd s full capacity. Boudreau and Lakhani (2013) believes employees are discouraged from seeking challenges; Yap (2012) says that internal crowdsourcing unveil innovations from employees which otherwise would not be captured. Carlson and Wilmot (2006) emphasizes that every employee does in fact has the ability to innovate, and must do so for their company to stay competitive. The desire for deeper exploration of

Most were lower class women, with the exception of the mistresses kept by upper class men. According to Victorian standards, respectable women did not consider sexual intercourse pleasurable. It was their duty to be intimate with their husbands. Having affairs was disgraceful (Waters). Prostitutes, on the other hand, were sexually intimate with men because they enjoyed sex. Respectable men and women would lure young women, usually from a lower class background, away from their homes and sell them into prostitution. Rarely did these young women go back to their families; not because they free to go, but because the procurators and procuresses never allowed these women a moment to be truly alone in public. These horrible men and women controlled these young women s lives as if they were possessions. In the off chance that a young woman escaped her bondage, she was not welcome back into her family with open arms. She was an outcast because she was a prostitute (by society s standards). Unfortunately, there was no help for these young girls, or any other prostitute. The people in a position to help them, like The Society for the Protection of Women and Children, turned a blind eye towards these women. The Society for the Protection of Women and Children only helped the privileged, not the needy (Wells 56). Prostitutes were not confined to one way of presenting their services. There were many types of brothels that serviced men from all social classes visited. Streetwalkers lived in Accommodation houses, which is one type of brothel (Wells 56). These women did not pay a Madame for their room and board, but accountable to themselves. Other prostitutes lived under the watchful eyes of their procuresses. These women lived in

  • 14. Why Is Mary Shelley s Frankenstein A Supporter Of The... There is some debate on the true purpose behind Mary Shelley s legendary novel Frankenstein. There are those that believe Mary Shelley was a Supporter of the Romantic Movement and that her work challenges the, previously accepted, neoclassical beliefs of avoiding extremes. However, there seems to be more evidence showing that Mary Shelley, in fact, reinforced neoclassical values. Rather than making her main character, Frankenstein, a tragic hero, glorifying his faults, and ultimately supporting the Romantic Movement, Shelley scrutinizes Frankenstein for his errors. Also, perhaps because of Shelley s Neoclassical ideals, Frankenstein reveals himself as a solipsist time and time again throughout the novel. Mary Shelley s exemplifies Frankenstein s... In reflection, he knows he is responsible for the death of his loved ones but he avoids confessing his creation of the creature because he doesn t want people to think he is mad. Frankenstein seems to put his status before being honest and keeping his loved ones safe. If it weren t for his ego, and his self containment he would not have strayed from the middle path, he would not have created the creature, and his loved ones would still be

When the PM is developing the project scope, he/she be aware that the project s scope come from many sources; stakeholders, the entire team contributing ideas, SME s giving their concepts, among others. It s not the PM entire responsibility and he/she must involve all the players when is appropriate. When every single person directly related with the project collaborate to build the project scope, the PM could frame an accurate scope statement describing items that will be included and those that won t be included in the project. 5. If I as a project manager not define with clarity what is going to be included, the project scope will change again and again, affecting both, the duration and the cost of the project. The triple constrain concept here is key, given the fact that time and cost will be affected. The best strategy to avoid scope creep is develop and use a correct scope management plan. 8. In United States Military, particularly the Army, all soldiers both men and women, take an oath to protect and defend the United States Constitution. However, there is one soldier named Bowe Bergdahl who thought that it would be okay to just leave his post, without letting his squad know where he was going, and thus creating a controversy that has rocked the political environment in Washington D.C. After listening to the Serial Podcast by Sarah Koneig and hearing all the interviews from political leaders, former squad mates, and even reporters, it is fair to come to the conclusion that Bowe Bergdahl deserves to be charged with Desertion and Misbehaving before the enemy. While it was known that Bergdahl was kidnapped by Taliban, some of the things that he said about the United States are quite troubling. For example, the Taliban released a video of Bergdahl saying this, I am ashamed to be an American. And the title of U.S. soldier is just the lie of fools. This is not only showing disrespect to the United States, but by hearing Bowe Bergdahl make this very profound statement, this clearly shows why he deserves to be charged with Misbehaving before the enemy. Another way to show that Bergdahl deserves to charged with Misbehaving before the enemy, is by looking at the other comment that Bergdahl made. For example, in another video that was released, Bergdahl said this, The horror that is America is disgusting. By watching Bergdahl make this statement, this gives another reason on why he deserves to be charged with Misbehaving before the enemy. To conclude, everybody will have their different opinions on Bowe Bergdahl. Some people believe that he is a prisoner of war and that he doesen t need to be charged, and others will believe that he is an utter traitor and that he deserves to be charged. Whether you believe that he is guilty or not, you simply cannot deny the evidence. Governor Lepage s Administration And The Vermont State ackground Governor LePage s administration and the Maine State Legislature have been in gridlock for many months over the proposed two year state budget beginning July 1. Maine faces the real possibility of a state government shutdown at the end of the fiscal year if that a budget agreement is not reached June 30th. The most recent state government shutdown lasting 16 days occurred in 1991 when then Gov. John McKernan failed to reach an agreement with the state legislature about workers compensation reform. The legislative leaders as well as Governor LePage s administration downplay the possibility of a shutdown, and have all stressed their commitment to avoid this drastic measure. However, LePage s often adversarial relationship with the legislature and battles over MaineCare funding must not be downplayed. LePage s administration is not offering any insight as to how the administration would conduct state government if a shutdown occurs; however, it will fall to LePage to decide which government services are essential and will continue in the event a budget agreement is not realized and a shutdown occurs. After the orchestra tuned all their instruments, the conductor, Garo Avessian, came to the podium. The first piece played was Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla by M. Although, this theme, has a complete opposite mood compared to the original theme, it complements it. After this, a smooth, warm theme is played by the cellos, which to me was the highlight of the whole piece. What caught my attention, was that the last theme played was the recapitulation of the original them (sonata form). You could hear a few middle eastern moments during the piece, plus some western style touches. The piece finished with her walking around the church holding a small radio, which played a fragment or two from a popular Lebanese song. All in all, I liked how Bushra fused elements from both western and middle eastern culture into an unusual piece that we don t hear that often. Moreover, Tala s theatrical performance enhanced this piece s likability, although, I preferred the other style of music being played that

In the famous play Romeo and Juliet , by William Shakespeare, Romeo is willing to do whatever it takes to be with Juliet without even looking back or thinking of the consequences while Juliet struggles with becoming an individual going from someone who shares a mind with her mother to an independent individual choosing to be with Romeo. Shakespeare develops Romeo by his overdramatic choice of words and Juliet by her change in behavior going from obedient and letting others speak for her to rebellious in trying to be independent, which refines the central idea: the power of loveagainst obstacles. Romeo s overdramatic word choice helps give the reader a deeper meaning into the power of love against obstacles. Romeo constantly exaggerates his thoughts through the choice of words he uses in his daily language. When Benvolio questions Romeo, wondering why he is upset, Romeo explains how love is a smoke made up with a fume of sighs, (Act one, scene one) and goes on about his love for Rosaline. In saying so, Romeo conveys his thoughts about how love can be bittersweet. Love can consume one like a strong fume, but that fume can also be dangerous and engulf you in sadness. The Theory Of Convivencia Between Christians And Muslims Is the theory of convivencia between Christians, Jews and Muslims in Iberia convincing in the first four centuries after 711? 4243296 Word Count: 1904 The theory of convivencia between Christians, Jews and Muslims is considered to be the period in Medieval Spain in which the three Abrahamic religions were able to coexist and live together peacefully. The notion of convivencia not only refers to the overall tolerance of Christians and Jews to be able to practice their religion in Al Andalus, it also incorporates the idea of members of these three faiths sharing a common culture, a language and working towards advancing civilisation through poetry, literature and science. Historians who have studied this issue are largely divided on whether this time period really was as harmonious as it is commonly described. Historians such as Bat Ye or highlight the lack of convivencia by placing emphasis on how leaders of Al Andalus would enforce rules such as granting non Muslims with the status of dhimmi, essentially making them second class citizens which by today s standards would undoubtedly lead to the theory of convivencia being somewhat unpersuasive. However, relative to this era, Islamic Iberia was the apex of religious tolerance, immensely surpassing the level of tolerance in surrounding nations and empires. Satrapi illustrates her life as a young girl growing into an adult during and after the Islamic Revolution in Iran with very little narration and simplistic dialogue. It is interesting to see how so little can be said, yet, so much can be conveyed. In comparison, the film representation of the novel uses a separate medium to depict the same story in a similar fashion. This is done in an effective manner, however, the necessity of this additional form of storytelling is arguable. The comparative analysis focus will be on graphic representation, the use of sound as an additional enhancing tool and finally, the key thematic and historical portrayal of novel events within the film. Firstly, the graphic style used in the novel was maintained in the creation of the film as Marjane Satrapi was the artist for both. Furthermore, she co wrote the screenplay for the animated film. Her prominent role in the production for both allowed her signature style to link the two. In the novel, the lack of colour is highly noticeable upon reading and analyzing each image. In fact, the style plays an unpredictably great role in depicting themes and evoking emotions. For instance, the colour black is used predominantly as an indicator of darker themes within the novel, it becomes noticeable within the second chapter entitled The Bicycle in

Why We Should Be Heading Towards Space Exploration Why We Should Be Heading Towards Space Space exploration is something that has intrigued mankind ever since science fiction writers of old sparked the imagination of the people. Since then, we have made leaps and bounds towards space travel with landing people on the moon, sending satellites to Saturn, the photos from the Hubble Telescope and the rover, Curiosity, on Mars. These advances have provided information that will prove to be beyond measure. While the cost of such information has been high, the benefits of the information has been irrefutable. Ultimately, this information goes to support not only further exploration of space, but also towards technologies that will benefit Earth directly. Two such projects deal primarily with solar power and nuclear waste disposal. Both of these industries would benefit immensely from such a service and would also generate the need for many space flights (Coopersmith, 2012). According to Coopersmith (2012), Space based solar power (SBSP) promises gigawatts of electric power with minimum environmental damage. Right off the bat, the question for most is, with all the benefits realized through space exploration aside, what is the actual cost of these endeavors. Life took me in different directions, some achievements, some delays but, somehow, almost four years ago, I found myself here, at Loyola, exactly where I was meant to be. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I signed up in 2012 but, I knew that I wanted to create change in this world and with nine measly credit hours I knew it would be a journey. I came here much like all the other students, in a rush, focused on obtaining that degree. Quickly, I found out Loyola had other plans, to transform my life. As the largest Jesuit university Loyola sets one goal, we are set on preparing people to lead extraordinary lives, providing growth at every corner from ignorance to understanding, from isolation to dialogue, from indifference to moral responsibility. Sometimes, the intensity of stress causes anxiety or frustration. Which is why for the most part, stress is taken as a negative impact on an individual. Whether that stress comes from school, money, environment, work or all of them, everyone walks the same path of stress sometimes without even realizing it. Although many people perceive stress in a negative way, there s some surprising benefits of stress that we are not aware of. It all comes down to the basic element of what stress is. Stress is an anticipated feeling someone gets when they get into any trouble or difficulty. The human body reacts physically to any stressor that comes across. For example, our body has two important systems that play a role sympathetic nervous systemand parasympathetic system. The parasympathetic system is known as a rest and digest response in which hormones send adrenaline and other transmitters to your body. On the other hand, the sympathetic nervous systemis known as a fight or flight response in which it uses that adrenaline in order to react quickly. Therefore, both these symptoms react to any stressor that can prepare the human body for anything that might come across, physically and mentally. (Grant n.p.) Stress can benefit us in many ways. For one, it can help humans increase their cognitive learning and
  • 40. The Importance Of Maths For many students, maths is a language only spoken at school, but maths is a well spoken language in my home. My mother s love for maths has inevitably infected me with the desire to solve problems with logical reason. I feel that a solution to one question in maths may open up more questions ranging in different domains of mathematics. Maths has helped me to discover different ways to achieve solutions through alternate thinking and this is reminiscent of everyday life, where it is advantageous to use effective and more efficient routes to overcome problems. I find that maths can be embedded into many aspects of life, e.g. using the Pythagoras theorem to aid in designing a room. Also, in biology, to find the variation in the distribution of a species, you can use standard deviation. Maths encourages me to delve into divergent thinking. It thrills me that there is always more to learn and the knowledge is never capped. Maths to me has acted as a mechanism for calming my busy mind. For example, some people enjoy the tranquillity of music, whereas my music is maths. Achieving the correct answer whenever I complete a maths question brings me great satisfaction, which further increases my motivation towards further learning. I have always thought that once you find that numbers are easy to work with, you develop an appetite to learn more about maths through practice it will stick in your mind forever. Chemistry works hand in hand with maths, it cannot work without it.

Surveillance programs, led by the NSA, are all used to clandestinely collect electronic data from all internet and phone users throughout the world. These programs came about after the Patriot Act of 2001. This act was put in place to help protect the American people from terrorist groups after the atrocities seen on 9/11. Originally drafted to protect the people, the Patriot Act was soon taken advantage of by the NSA. These programs should be heavily restricted because they disregard personal privacy, do not properly protect the information they are taking, and, lastly, are unconstitutional.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In theory, the government can detect warning signs from certain individuals before it is too late and the damage is done. However, what are the American people trading for this security? Is this loss of privacy and freedom worth it? To quote one of the greatest American founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. In Conclusion, clandestine surveillance programs run by the United States government are Orwellian in nature and are becoming out of hand The NSA s Prism, XKeyscore, and Dishfire programs should be extremely regulated because they overstep the boundaries or personal privacy, do not adequately protect the data they obtain, and impede on the basic rights given to Americans in the

In Nigeria, corruption stems from the problem with oil, it leads to political violence, repression and unchecked government power. In Kenya, corruption arises from economic interests, causing political instability and hindering development. In addition to that, both experience electoral corruption. Conversely, civil societies active participation in the government propels each country towards a thicker democracy. Even though Nigeria and Kenya are thin democracies, their high levels of corruption in their government inhibits their ability of becoming free democracies. While both Kenya and Nigeria are partly free, historically, Kenya s freedom score is lower than Nigeria s. High levels of corruption are prevalent in both Nigeria and Kenya, however, the oil curse in Nigeria further stimulates corruption which impairs their countries democracy. Nigeria s economy is the second largest in Africa and it continues to grow by 6% a year. This growth is dominated by the production of oil. Oil accounts for more than 98% of export revenues. • 46. Panama Canal Analysis Major events leading to the construction of the Panama Canal: The French impose an effort on the construction of the canal but end in a dejected failure. Within the 1900s, John Hay and Julian Pauncefote come to an agreement that allows the United States to control the construction and administration of the canal without fortifying it (Hay Pauncefote Treaty). Theodore Roosevelt then becomes president establishing great significance towards the idea that the United States should behold total management over the canal. The second treaty accomplishes the goal that allows the United States fortification of the canal. Due to the lower demands introduced to the senate along with the natural disaster of what Mt. Momotombo could cause, congress favors Panama. Hay then offers negotiations towards Colombia, but the agreement is rejected. The superiorities in Washington then exposed the idea that Panama could resolve the Colombian conflict if they established and won independence as a whole. A Panamanian group then plans to initiate a revolution with over 500 rebels. United States Naval ships stop Colombian troops from interfering with Panamanian rebels. In one day with the help of the U.S. and its naval ships, Panama is granted independence from Colombia. A new treaty is established that explains and distinguishes the rights for building the canal while also protecting Panama. The canal is then built and finalized after seven years of Roosevelt s passing.

When it was built, Virginia City was booming with a population of approximately twenty two thousand people. Virginia City at the time wanted to show off some of its pride as a city with a new four story school. As the school today is so very old and has a history, people running the museum have to balance keeping the place funded and staying historically true. Today, the museum has lost much of its historical authenticity and has taken on more of a museum s role, rather than a historical building role. This comes from the fact that the Fourth Ward School has undergone massive reconstruction since its desertion in 1936. That does not take away from the fact that the school looks to be authentic, like it was just preserved. This adds to its efficiency to educate as few museums can also claim to be a historical building and show history visually. Even if the school is entirely re created, with the vast sum of knowledge on the school, we can recreate it masterfully so that everyone can still learn and enjoy being in a historical building that is the last of its kind. The Fourth Ward School blends the needs of historic preservation well with the needs of a modern museum. It is likely that as time goes on, the needs of the museum will outweigh the needs of historical

While viewing the article from a point of view where Hochswender is aiming to convince his readers that SUV drivers are not bad, he makes two extremely logical (logos) points. Those points are that road navigation within his area being easier while driving an SUV and that the ideas behind the television commercials and the Pulp Fiction movie linking SUVs and terrorism are illogical. I agree that he is using ethics (ethos) as he explains the contributions that he makes to society.

The Ceiling Art of Pozzo s Triumph of Sain Ignatius of... #######poorly written######Pozzo s Triumph of Saint Ignatius of Loyola is on the ceiling of the Church of Sant Ignazio in Rome, and was painted from 1685 1694. It is approximately 56 feet by 115 feet across the ceiling, and uses a quadratura perspective to create an almost three dimensional effect. While the effect makes the center look much higher, it is actually painted on an arched ceiling called a barrel vault. This is a frescopainting, a type of coloring that made the painting integral to the construction of the building or item. Inside the Church of Sant Ignazio, there is a single white tile indicating where the viewer is intended to stand to truly appreciate Pozzo s work. The scene illustrates many different saints and other highly viewed people, all ascending towards the sky. There is also allegorical figures of the 4 continents (America, Europe, Africa, and Asia) attached to the side of the buildings windows at the base of the painting. The scene is filled with cherubs that seem to be aiding the continents and saints. At the center of the painting, Saint Ignatius is following Christ into heaven, with beams of light coming from his body towards the four continents. The arches at the ends of the painting also add to the illusion that the center of the painting is much higher than the rest of it. Saint Francis Xavieris also shown in the work ascending towards the heavens. Context In the 1600s, Rome was becoming one of the cultural hotspots in Italy. During the
